What makes you think that we don't take any action? True we are not slogan-shouting banner holders, but within our own sphere and our daily lives we do take action. Some of us just don't feel compelled to announce it.
I'm sure in our lives we are all quite vociferous. I would be surprised to find anyone of the active members of this forum taking things lying down.
Can you imagine someone telling Zem or Nirvan or even me something and getting away with it?

I do agree with people here ... whoever is passionate about these issues do stand up to them, but again just in their confide environment. It is not possible for any individual to start a campaign on their own. I think the best one can do is to educate the upcoming generation to fight about them as much as they can. Things like this have to be taught from very young.
I think its very difficult to change the thinking of the adults as they have grown up in a society where these things have always existed and they have already adapted to it thinking its part of society. One instance is the dowry; even if the parents don't have enough to spend they borrow it ... so that they can meet up with the status of the society they are in.

You are misinterpreting my post.People rant here and elsewhere (social networks), but many times, many of them take things silently in real life. Or cease to bother until something hits them.Even in this forum I noticed some people saying ''Oh I never thought of this before'' or ''Oh I knew but did not do anything at that time'' or ''I wish I could do this etc.'' These are the things I was aiming to discuss.

Annika, look at the brighter side-people ARE finally raving and ranting on social fora and becoming aware on this forum-this is EXACTLY what AK was aiming for, wasn't he? To draw attention,to create awareness? Some of the issues are so complex,so all pervasive that most of us become de-sensitized-we need a kick in our derriere to jolt us out of our complacent stupor.
I think most of us posting here have made conscience decisions about WHAT we will NOT accept in our lives & are following our heart to the best of our limited capacity. I for one ,live in a small village after I retired-I don't have the position or power to make sweeping changes,so I do my little bit for women's empowerment and against DV within my limited ambit-it IS the best I can do.
