Whether hez charging fees or doing it for free... doesn't make a difference, seeing the issues that are being discussed and the impact it has...

I don't care how much Aamir is getting paid for this show. There is nothing wrong with him and his crew being compensated for their time and efforts.
And as you so carefully outlined...it is a drop in the bucket compared to what he could earn making just one film.
To those people who are making it an issue...I can only offer a middle finger salute...They obviously have nothing to do. And are blind to and are trying to distract us from the real problems at hand that this brilliant show is trying to raise awareness for.
Thanks for providing the link to donate...I will promptly do so...

BTW annika20, I love this line of yours: Saying Aamir should do it for free, is like questioning why teachers demand salary to teach, why doctors charge fees to help the ailing! Ha!

I agree. People who are making such remarks are forgetting what the real issue was. I was heartbroken to hear that there are still so many cases of female infanticide.

Agree with every word you've written annika.

And I wish to add something else--Aamir is not taking up any commercial endorsements, as of March 31, 2012--he has stopped endorsing, since it would cause clash with the intent and purport of this tv show.

Does anybody even realize what a big sacrifice that is, financially. Many of our stars survive and flourish through commercial endorsements--of products like fairness creams, underwear , hard drinks and other such products---and Aamir even when he did endorse, rarely chose anything more controversial than coca cola (which he gave up over a year back).

Aamir may be getting paid Rs 3 crores per show--and IMO, he deserves every penny, considering the position he is in, the value inputs he brings, the amount of time and money spent on the show--plus the amount of money he is giving up, thanks to his current position on endorsements.

Here is Aamir talking about this subject--

What made you stop all your advertising contracts for this year?
There's no logic in that. There's nothing wrong in doing an ad for a product you would like to endorse, and if there's something wrong, you shouldn't do it in the first place. It's not as if I'm endorsing cigarettes or alcohol or gutkha or something. Two of my endorsements were getting over before this show came on. The other three, the contract was going beyond the date, but I requested the client to relieve me while the show is on. It's very important for me that I don't do ads. And I'm happy to say they respected my emotions. Then there were two three other people who wanted me to sign on and I said, "No, no, I've stopped doing ads." I just felt that while I'm doing this show I didn't want to be selling something. I don't know how to say it. It didn't feel right to me.

Here is some clarity on Aamir Khan's fees and so-called money-making from Satyamev Jayate, straight from a person working with Aamir Khan Productions:

In addition to points made in first post of this thread, here is some more clarity on sacrifices Aamir made for making Satyamev Jayate and also how much of money from his 3 crore fees will go to him!

- Sacrifices that Aamir Khan did for Satyamev Jayate :Aamir (AKP) spent 32 crore in the making, research and promotions of SMJ. [Coupled with expenditure from STAR it is more than 90 crores]

- Aamir ended the contracts with 6 brands worth Rs. 116 crore.

- Aamir Paid 23 crore to the brands as a penalty of the breach of contract.

- In return he will get 46 crore (3.5 crore per episode)from Star plus, which also includes the pay of AKP team of around 500 members

[This person is Agam Anand, working with Aamir Khan Productions. He's revealed all this on FB and Twitter - his personal accounts. ]
