I guess what I'm about to say has probably been said before but I feel the need to say it anyway.😛

Isn't female foeticide something we read about all the time? It's not something that Indians aren't aware of. However, the way in which the facts were presented today was truly an eye opener. If even a single mother, father, granddad, grandma etc changed their views on female foeticide then I'd be glad. He bought to light the misconception a lot of us have how these practices are mainly carried out in small villages whereas the truth is that it's happening in the big cities of our country. The so-called urban districts in Mumbai and Delhi where we assume that being educated equates to being smart enough not to kill your own child, regardless of their gender. How a man can forget that they themselves came from a woman and disrespect them, I will honestly never understand. It was so hard to watch the way in which a mother-in-law wished for her own granddaughter to die when born premature, how a mother like her found it in herself to push her own grandchild down the stairs in the hope that the precious little girl wouldn't survive. It's also disgusting to see the way in which a man would proceed to bite off his wife's face. That's so damn twisted and it makes me hate the Indian legal system so much when nothing is been done to help those mothers. This was just an example of one mother, I'm sure there are other mothers too who have had to abort their child forcibly 4-5 times before.

I thought it was nice that they showed the other side of it all too with a bunch of bachelors in Haryana above the age of 35 who couldn't find themselves a wife.😆The people who work for months and years upon end to equalise the sex ratio deserve a round of applause.👏It's no easy task in a country like India where it often feels like the political and legal system works completely against you, in addition to the many corrupt individuals out there.

Before I finish, I just wanna say a huge thanks to Aamir Khan! Today, he proved once again when he will always be a class apart from the rest. Not once did he come across as being too preachy or giving a lecture of some sort. I know there's been a bit of controversy regarding him being paid 3 crores but you know what, it doesn't bother me at all. If the guy is the highest paid TV actor then he bloody well deserves it! He isn't hosting some show of contestants stuck in a house hurling abuses at one another, nor is he being paid to host some random game show. The difference is he's making a difference, or at least trying to anyway and even if I assume for a second that he has a financial incentive behind it, it doesn't make me love the show any less. He's the only film actor who has the guts to take such a huge risk and I applaud him for that! If Aamir Khan is making money by forcing us to look at the problems in our country and deal with them, then I have absolutely no problem with that. Brilliant song at the end too!👏

As a country, we have a lot of problems. No doubt, we're doing extremely well in some fields too but we cannot afford to keep ignoring these issues. So thank you Aamir Khan, Star Plus and the whole of the Satyamev Jayate team for coming up with this brilliant idea. Thank you for letting us wake up and smell the coffee! Honestly, at the end of the day even if no-one does anything about the issue, let's say no-one even bothers to sign the petition..at least someone or another who watched the show will vow never to let something like that happen to them and will at least want to protect and save their own girl child. :)

All in all, a great way to start the show and the response so far has been great! I hope that continues and more and more people tune in!

Lastly, does anyone know what next week's show will be on? I heard there is a promo out and it will be on child labour? I think I'm going to need to keep an extra packet of tissues with me! lol

Nothing new...I have seen interview of the lady with the twins b4 on some other channel or may be on regular US channel..
This is happening since long back and now they are making the show abt it..I agree its not only happening with uneducated people of village...It happens with educated people even more..
Not only female fetus are being killed by forceful abortion but couples who dont take care of their business and get pregnant use abortion as a family planning..I agree it is couple's resp to FP..
The lady who did not know that her 6 babies were aborted I have a hard time believing...Why did she even go to the doctor the next time..
I am against marriages now..what good does come out of a marriage where women are treated as a boy producing machines or they have to abort the baby if its a girl 😭...A lady was beaten up black and blue. Shame on those family who condone this behavior..Shame on those men who treat their wives as such...and shame on those parents who marry their daughters off into families like this or men as such...
Showing 2 female doctors who were doing abortion but how many male doctors are doing so too..I found it bit lopsided.
This is a very sore subject with me and close to heart...Women are abused as baby making machines. sold when there is scarcity...Gosh what else is left? Why is it always women who suffer? 😡
Good topic H4L ..Nice seeing u...Hope all is well..

Varsha Di!🤗It's been so long..I hope you're doing well! :)

It's always nice to see your balanced views! :)

I think that's exactly the problem. The fact that everyone is aware of the issue, everyone knows about it but no-one cares enough to do anything about it. This then leads to no doctor having their license confiscated despite carrying out these crimes and in fact, getting promoted instead.

I'm all for family planning too but I don't understand why so many people feel the need to have a 'heir'. Why must an innocent girl lose her life in order for a family to have a son? Something I can't get my head around. Regarding the lady who had 6 babies aborted..did she say she wasn't aware of what was happening all 6 times? I assumed it was just the first few times and later she felt like she had no choice and was being forced in to it against her will. I do sympathise with these ladies because on one hand they face a lot of pressure from society to stay within a marriage and for that they often suffer so much. I don't think it can ever be easy on any mother to abort her own child.

Don't lose faith though! The fact that so many people feel so strongly about these issues, including men is evidence of the fact that there is still hope for mankind! Take for example the lawyer and the politician! On the other hand we have those sickening judges who are the main reason why our legal system is such a big joke. I agree completely. Shame on the husband for putting his wife through so much crap and shame on his parents for raising such a man!

I guess the two female doctors that were showed was mainly to emphasise the way in which women themselves have no hesitation in performing such an act and in fact they were laughing it off!🤢I'm sure there are male doctors out there who perform such abortions too unfortunately.

Aamir really seems to have managed to have done a great job. Dil pe lagna chahiye! Aur dil pe hi laga na?
