The three of them gape speechlessly at Vimla while she watches them intently.
VIMLA: What? Why are you guys looking at me like that?
REMO: W-when did you come?
VIMLA: It's been a while. Why?
REMO: (tensed) A while? You mean like around ten minutes?
VIMLA: No. Ten seconds. Why? What's going on?
Remo is visibly relieved.
REMO: Nothing.
VIMLA: (confused) Huh? (suspicious) Tell me the truth. What are you hiding from me?
REMO: Hiding? Nothing... (laughs) What can we possibly hide from you?
Vimla grabs Remo's collar playfully and nips out his fake laughter in the bud.
VIMLA: For your kind information, I wasn't born yesterday.
Remo is dumbfounded.
ROLI: (giggles) Remo, enough of the suspense yaar. Actually, it's like this...
All of them have her attention now.
ROLI: We were wondering... it's the weekend. So why not just go out and jam? Just the four of us?
VIMLA: Yeah! Why not? That would be awesome! (glowers at Remo) So this is the big secret.
Remo shrugs with a sheepish grin.
VIMLA: Well, I won't lie. I think that it's a brilliant idea.
Remo smiles, happy that things are going as planned.
VIMLA: But where do we go?
ROLI: We have a few spots in mind. But say what, let's just plan it out and try to make the best out of this evening.
VIMLA: (super excited) Alright!!! This is going to be fun.
I hope so, thinks Remo nervously.
VIMLA: We can also have a small barbeque party. What do you say?
ROLI: Wow! That would be fantastic! Right Remo?
REMO: Absolutely!
SIDDHANT: Actually guys, there's a problem.
REMO: What?
SIDDHANT: I have to catch up with an old relative of mine this evening. I promised I'd meet him, so...
ROLI: So what? Are you planning for a sleep-over?
SIDDHANT: No. Not really.
ROLI: Then what? (in a serious tone) Finish your business and then get over at our meeting point. Hear me?
Siddhant is stunned.
ROLI: Don't look at me like that. You'd be missing out on some beautiful moments if you don't turn up.
SIDDHANT: Haan, but...
ROLI: No buts. Just do what I say.
Vimla smiles at the way Roli pushes Sid around.
VIMLA: It's okay Roli. If Sid is busy then...
ROLI: Arrey. You keep quiet yaar. This fellow always has some excuse or the other.
SIDDHANT: (irritated) What excuse? I wasn't making it up. I'm serious! I really do have a meeting this evening. If you don't believe me, you can come over at the Crowne Plaze after 6.30 this evening. You'll find me there!
ROLI: (laughs sarcastically) Hah! Do you really think that I have nothing else better to do than snoop around your"
Her voice trails away and her smug expression simply disappears.
BOING! Crowne Plaza??
Oh shit! That just reminds me, she thinks in dismay, I was supposed to catch up with Atul at the Crowne Plaza this evening... and that too in that green saree!!! How could I forget so fast?
The three of them watch her intently.
SIDDHANT: What?
Roli fumbles around with the spoon and napkin.
ROLI: Ermm... Nothing. If you can't come it's okay.
SIDDHANT: Huh?
ROLI: Actually Siddhant, what I meant to say is... if you're busy and can't come then it's okay... we can always...
Remo and Vimla are confused now.
SIDDHANT: (cuts her off) Whoa-whoa-whoa! Hang on! A while back you were acting all smart just cause I couldn't come. Now what happened? Why the sudden change?
ROLI: What change? I gave it second thought you see. So I understood that you do indeed have a genuine problem.
SIDDHANT: (smirks) Come on Roli. The truth is all over your face. Admit it. You too have a meeting somewhere. Yes or no?
Roli's eyes go wide. Hey Matarani! Does this guy know by any chance? Did he overhear my conversation with Atul today? Or maybe he's just probing me. This guy will humiliate me now!! I don't want anyone to know about what's going on with Atul. They'll all tease me!!
ROLI: (has a tough time looking into Sid's eyes) Hah! What meeting? You tho na... don't make up stories. The thing is that I had promised Mum that I'd help her with some work this evening. So...
Siddhant just glares at her with pursed lips.
SIDDHANT: I'm not convinced.
ROLI: That's okay with me.
SIDDHANT: Well, we're not okay with it. (to Remo and Vimla) We'll meet outside our office building at 9 PM. I'll be there too. (to Roli in a serious tone) You better be there too.
ROLI: But...
SIDDHANT: No buts... it's fixed! Now let's plan out our schedule for this evening.
The four of them discuss their plans for the evening over lunch, laughing and giggling in between as they do.
Siddhant throws quick glances over at Roli in between. She does look tensed about something. Wonder what it is? She had been acting a bit weird this morning too. Is she having an affair by any chance? Possibly with Atul? She said that she knew him personally. But how much? Moreover, the two of them were in the cabin this morning for quite sometime. What's going on?
Roli catches Siddhant staring at her and instantly reads his mind. She blushes visibly and quickly looks away.
Hmm, thinks Siddhant, guess I'm not wrong after all. Something is cooking...
Much later, they are done with their lunch and get up to leave.
REMO: (looks at his watch) Jesus! We're running late! Didn't notice the time flying by.
VIMLA: Let's hurry up.
REMO: (to Roli and Siddhant) See you guys there. Making a move now.
ROLI: Sure. (to Siddhant) Chalo yaar. Let's go. Back to work.
SIDDHANT: (gets up) By the way, you wanted to tell me something earlier. Remember?
ROLI: (confused) What?
SIDDHANT: When you came into the restaurant before. You wanted to tell me something. That's when I got a call.
Roli freezes as she remembers. She was going to tell him about Atul. Should she??
