Ahahaha...finally found a computer...and OMG, talked to Tejesh today. 🤣🤣 He's hopefully going to be gracious enough to provide details because I am feeling too lazy. But omg...72 minutes on the phone with him...kitna bak bak karta hai yeh. 🤣

Finally and finally the thing I prayed that it should never happen knocked on my door today😆 and when it in fact happened it went on for 72 looonnnggg minutes😲...Every second felt like a new millennium🥱...It was so taxing and so tiring.🤢

But to be frank I am actually feeling very happy that it did happen and it turned out to be so much fun not cuz the person to whom I was talking was fun but both our IF background was such.🤣

7.13pm IST / 9.47 EDT
I sent a message to some US number which read: "Is this UD? Tejesh here. Take this as a test message". Basically I wanted to make sure I am calling the right person😆. But unfortunately there was no reply.😭

8.40pm IST / 11.10 EDT
I decided to call on the same number even though there was no response😡. Ring ring, ring ring and on the 5th ring I guess I hear a voice similar in accent to my colleagues in the US. All my assumptions and imaginations about UD's voice came crashing down😭. I had assumed UD will sound like a typical Punjabi kudi but it was not to be.😭

UD: Hello...Oh Hi

From both sides it was "Hello how are you" at the same time and the reply too was same " I am good thank you". I felt either I am repeating what she is saying or she is repeating what I am saying. 😆
Then after the initial greetings our bak bak started:

Me: Did you have lunch?
UD: No not yet.
Me: Why on earth does anyone have a 4 hr break?
UD: Ya I know..The schedule is such based on the courses I chose.
Me: I mean 4 hrs is a long time you could probably go home.
UD: Ya I know. You know what I thought you would have an accent n all like Nimika and Haaka but you seem to be fine. And you are able to understand what I am saying gr8, I thought even you would have problems.
Me: The thing is that my office head quarters is in Boston and I have to attend daily calls with my colleagues in US so I am used to the accent.
UD: Oh ya? that's gr8...
Me: You know what I was planning to address you as UD but then it just slipped out of my mind, don't know how?
UD: Even I was planning to say Pairi Pauna but even I forgot
Me: You can say it now..he he he
UD: Naa its fine..he he he
Me: U know I had imagined you as a typical Punjabi woman with North Indian accent but I guess I was wrong...

Me: Yaa..If someone talks to you over the phone they wouldn't be able to make out that you are a Punjabi.
UD: Are you saying that they will make out I am a Punjabi or they won't?
Me: I said they won't
UD: Oh okay...So what were you doing?
Me: Hmm nothing much I was planning to go out for dinner but my roommates said they will get food for me so I am at home watching some Tennis..
UD: Hey if you have to go out then its fine please go..
Me: Naa I don;'t have to as my friends will get dinner for me its all fine...you tell me Hmm so what plans for lunch?
UD: Hmm I am gonna buy something from the store..
Me: You don't get food from home..
UD: My mom isn't here na so ...
Me: Do you know cooking?
UD: I know but I don't have much time in the morning as I take too long to get ready . he he he..While I get ready my mom makes lunch for me...he he he...Now she is not at home and I am too lazy to make lunch for myself... he he he

Me: I mean for someone who doesn;t get to speak the language its awesome actually..

We then talked about her height (its 5 3') and she said in her passport they have mentioned it as 5 4'🤣 so that people think she is tall..God I was in splits when I heard that...Some Complan and Horlicks talks..how she used to hate Horlicks 😆...

Then we discussed about nutrition and health (basically that was her next class) how one needs to reduce the intake quantity..how food size is increasing day by day😆, my job switching process, about undergrad-grad engineering and medicine courses in US and India, my future plans...blah blah...We both had so much to talk that we kept interrupting each other as if we won't get another chance to speak😆..And did some gossip too about our previous conversations with SGPians and about SGPians themselves(this is a secret sorry can't disclose😆)

I was quite surprised to know that she has never been outside NYC. She said she wants to work , earn money and travel to Europe.😆 and India too...She is pretty poor in geography of India her birth place😆..

There were times when I was too fast for her I guess and she kept asking me to repeat😆..I thought I would have to ask her to repeat but surprisingly she did. And she had to bear the soft voice from my side as my phone's microphone sucks😆..She kept saying Shout Shout..that was funny...

What else did we talk? Hmm can't remember..Ekta please do fill in the missing links...

Ya i remember how it ended when we were discussing about academics(she got bored I guess and came up with a nice excuse😆)

UD: I guess I am hungry need to go..Sorry
Me: Oh thats totally fine...Please go ahead..
UD: It was great speaking to you Tejesh..Thanks for calling...
Me: Even I had a good time too...
UD: So who will provide an update on this conversation
Me: You do it
UD: No you do it and then I will do it...(fighting like 5 year olds)...
Me : why does it boil down to give and take between us..U are updating first thats it...Ok then bye..
UD: bye...

After the call she messaged me saying 'Whoah u can text me? Others in India couldn't" Basically she read my message which I had sent 1 hr before I called her, as usual portraying her dumbness😆

How I felt?

She asked me to say all good things. So here u go:
I liked her voice. She has got a very sweet voice must say very pleasing to the ears😆(I am not being sarcastic here)
She is very sweet, polite and totally opposite of what she is on IF..I mean she tried hard I guess to behave well on the phone. Par bak bak toh vaise hee karti hai jaise IF pe...I guess we both could have actually continued talking till one of our battery died..so that itself shows how much bak bak we are capable of and we are never short of words.😆
I didn;t feel much of a difference on the phone..It was similar to what we do on IF but ya in a more polite way😆 and about her dumbness guess I was wrong..She is a smart lady..but u know Ekta I love calling u UD so I won't stop😆

Thanks Mayee for being such a patient listener and I hope you had a good time too talking to me.

My conversation with Nikita:-

It hardly lasted for 5 mins, and I was giggling all along, as Niks sounded sooo nervous.. Her voice was just as I imagined it to be, like a teenagers..It began with my asking if its Nikita, and then announcing that it is me.. I asked her about her studies and she was like nooo.. Please change the topic.. Enjoyed teasing her about it.. She sounded exactly like my niece, who is a little scared of me 😉 And then my MIL called me for lunch and I had to go..

Hope she is a little more relaxed the next time we talk 😊

But all in all, it was great talking to you Niki my Mickey 😆 Enjoyed it thoroughly 😃
