Yeah, but aren't there certain guidelines he wants you to follow? Or did he only just say, "Okay, kids...go write a paper on a topic of your choice"?

Even an open-ended paper like yours should have a guideline or else it would be too broad and some people might not do it within the scope of the lecture that your professor wants you to follow.

So tell me anything your professor requires you to do for this paper...including the minimum number of pages required.

So far you decided on illegal immigration in Canada. That's the broad topic but you will also need to get specific. Your thesis should have a stance.

Don't worry, you're not bugging me at all...and anyways, how can an idle person mind? 🤣 I'm more worried that you will get scared by my sudden serious demeanor tonight. 😉😆Okay, first of all, thanks for giving the topic question. 😆 Now, your thesis should answer this question and be what your paper is about. So list to me 3 problems created by illegal immigrants and 3 steps that gov't should do to curb it.

Your basic outline will then follow as such:

First paragraph: introduction w/ thesis in it.

Second para: Talking about the 1st issue caused by illegals

Third para: Talk about 2nd issue in detail caused by illegals

Fourth para: 3rd issue in detail

Fifth para: one step gov't can do (in detail)

Sixth para: 2nd step

Seventh para: 3rd step

Last para: conclusion wherein you sum up your thesis and then provide an interesting or new idea.

Right now, this is the basic sketch of your paper...the more you tell me, the more specific I can make this, okay?

Your thesis should answer the question because that's the focus of the paper. So it should be something like, "Illegal immigration in Canada has resulted in XYZ problems which can be resolved by XYZ actions of the Canadian government."

Btw, never took a political science class before...but I'm a humanities major so I think I can still be useful in terms of content, if you ever need it. 😆

Ya i too did one humanities course...religions of india...it was easy though😃
