"I find that there are a lot of similarities, and a bit of Rohit Roy, in every role that I do. This includes my role as Karan Pratap Singh (Sarrkkar). Karan is very headstrong and straightforward. At times, he is honest to the extent of being curt. He will employ any means to convince others of his point of view."
" He doesn't think that it is wrong to pull a gun on someone who is not letting him do something good. In real life, I may not pull a gun, but, yes I would stand for things that I believe in. I can never be a hypocrite. We should all speak our minds."
"For me my mother is the beginning and end of my world. My world has expanded with the coming of my wife and my daughter but my mother is irreplaceable."
"I think I have always been a very obedient child. I was not like Karan Pratap Singh. Once I got into a mess in school. My mom was summoned by the principal. She bailed me out but since she is a teacher herself, she was upset as it was against her principles.
"Between my brother Ronit and me, Ronit is the more mature person. Probably because he is older and has seen a lot of ups and downs. I, on the other hand, have never lived life according to another's dictates."
"Ronit would kill anybody for me, nothing short of that. Once I got embroiled in a scrap over a car accident. I called Ronit and he immediately came over and beat the shit out of that guy."
"I have known Mansi for a long time before we got married. She was always a part of my family. My mom and she are like friends. Of course they have their saas-bahu fights all the time like in every family. But I don't play favourites. My mom lives with me and she will continue to do so all her life."
"Ronit speaks to my mom in a very gentle manner, I don't sweet talk at all. If I am angry with her, I let it be known to her. My mom is more graceful than me, she always takes the initiative of making up after a fight. I melt when she hugs me."
"Ronit and I have never quarreled over property inherited from our father. I have started with Ronit's money. When I was struggling, I lived in his house and drove his car. When he moved into a new house, he left everything for me. So in a way, he set up my first house."
"He filled the vacuum left by my dad. I was barely in the tenth standard when my dad died. I have never been friends with Ronit though he is only four years older to me because he is like a father figure to me. I can't drink in front of him even today."
"Whenever Ronit has been in any crisis I have always been there for him. Even when he divorced his first wife, I stood by him, though I realise that two people are at fault in a divorce."
"I have reprimanded Ronit when he is wrong and I still continue to do so."
"Ronit had an accident earlier this year — he is very accident prone. He fell from the stairs and hurt his nose. For an actor, a disfigured face is a nightmare. So I took a mannat that if the surgery goes off well, I will walk up to Siddhi Vinayak temple from my house."
"On and off screen I behave in a similar fashion with Ronit. I am very comfortable working with him, I don't have to really act too much. Besides, once the camera is on, Ronit becomes Kunal Pratap Singh."
"No producer could have asked for a better cast than Ronit and me playing brothers on screen. I would have been over the moon if our mother was also part of the cast and played our own screen mother. But she has got nothing to do with acting." | Rohit's toughest shot
"I would single out the scene in which I receive the news of my father's death in Swabhimaan. I was supposed to be completely broken and under the influence of half-a-bottle of alcohol. It was a very Arth kind of scene. And ironically, Mahesh Bhatt was directing that scene. I just couldn't get it right because at that time I didn't even drink wine. I didn't know what it felt like to be drunk."
" So I thought of Amitabh Bachchan's drunken act in his various films. He became my school. Bhatt saab helped me a lot too. He banged the door, sent the flower vase crashing to the floor and later, asked me to recreate the same. The scene obviously clicked because people loved my character. I think I took as many as 40-50 takes for the scene." | | | Rohit Roy with brother Ronit Roy at Siddhi Vinayak to honour the mannat he kept for him | Ronit Roy, Rohit's brother
"Rohit has done everything single-handedly, though I have always supported him in whatever he has done in life. Although he wasn't a naughty child, he is definitely naughty now.
I felt great when we walked together to Siddhi Vinayak temple to honour his mannat which he had taken for me." Dolly Roy, Rohit's mother
"When I watch Rohit's behavior with Divya on Sarrkar, I feel like it is a mirror image of his behaviour with me. One day I couldn't resist asking Rohit, 'Do you visualize me before performing a scene with Divya?' He promptly replied, 'You are so right.'"
"In the serial, Divya doesn't approve of the girl Rohit brings home as his wife, but I like Mansi. Currently, I am living with Ronit because he has just got a baby girl and I keep shunting between Ronit's and Rohit's house."
"Rohit is a very honest person. He loves me and his wife, equally. I was the happiest person when I saw the two brothers sharing the screen together in Sarrkkar."
"I have met Divya who plays Rohit's screen mother. I told her you are portraying the role very realistically almost like I would." | | TV Gyaan
On the sets of Sarrkkar, Divya and I are constantly horsing around. It gets difficult at times to switch off and do a really serious scene. At times, we have gone on the sets after sharing a joke in the make up room.
And whilst doing an emotional scene, we remember the joke we shared a few minutes ago and we break into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. Divya is very cool. Though she plays my mother in the serial, she is more of a friend. | | |
