just saw the epi...
my first reactions:
On Gautam & Jennifer:
- awesome episode...stupendous acting by jennifer and gautam...While the stage is that of great sadness, I continue to be blown away each day since this track started...with each new epi these two take the acting excellence to a level which is better than the previous epi..
- we wanted intensity and we are getting it in spades...I believe these two are like magnets...the further they are from each other story-wise, the more intense is their chemistry...I am only hoping their seperation track will keep it on sizzle in both their performances.
On Saras & Kumud:
- I have observed that there is a lot of heart-burn around why kumud is not 'understanding' enough...has been explained long enough but can't resist one more time...which is that
1) most importantly she does not know what has happened at saras - end
2) saras did not make himself clear when he called her up too.. (For e.g. he has not said he thinks LN indirectly killed his mom, about their fight, what was said etc.)
3) despite all her pleading saras said forget it and disconnected..
...so obviously she thinks she's been ditched again...
4) maybe she also remembers gumaan's words...that saras will never make you his wife..
5) worried about her family's plight, prestige...they will be a laughing stock..."Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" types.
6) specially worried about her dad...and feels she will again be the cause of his shame..
7) what's there to live for anyway?...she died the moment saras disconnected..
- so can really emphathize with how she is behaving the way she is..
- Is she impulsive...yes...and justified ...also yes due to the above...specially because of #7.
- about VC...he is a father who is worried about his daughter, his other daughters, his family pride, his prestige earned over a lifetime...its more panic less ego...
- loved kumud...she is back!... no longer the simpering version 2.0, but full on version 1.0...I have always felt she is the tougher one and wears the pants in the relationship...and she demonstrated it how!
-mind - blowing scene the arthi thing...felt straight as if it was something out of Godfather...why? One, in Hindu tradition the women never do this puja. To do this is breaking a stereotype.
she does it on her own...Loved the guts part...
Two, and this is scary...the utter finality of her decision...she has burnt all bridges, all memories, all feelings..now I wonder if she will ever get back with him? Is SLB going to go the whole way as per the novel? No physical union and marriage, at the most a platonic relationship?... Biting nails ...but will worry about it some other day..
- also some philosophy...fantastic depiction of how most of us in life are always bounded by the choices we make ...and actually there is limited free will even in the choices we make (though we like to believe it is entirely free will)..
..its always a state of disequilibrium, a critical state, a fork and the new state of disequilibrium..most of us make decisions when our life / a situation is at a disequilibrium - which in turn arises out of multiple forces / factors / situations all converging on each other, on some of which we have control and on some we don't...the peak of the disequilibrium is a critical state when a decision is either made by us or forced on us due to the forces...but a choice / decision WILL be made since a critical state cannot exist for long..the pressure of the converging forces is too great...Also there are multiple forks / outcomes at the critical state...And once a particular choice / decision is made, the critical state collapses...but due to the choice / decision..you move along one particular path ONLY from the whole range of paths possible...NOW...most of the time once you move forward you can NEVER return back to the EXACT earlier critical state...it is gone forever...and you can only move closer to it or not at all...you are now bound by the new set of forces specific to the new path...this continues till you hit the next disequilibrium..and wash rinse & repeat...
..so here once the decision was made by saras and now by kumud...both have moved along their own paths...which have diverged...they will never be the same samud again..however strong their desire, remorse & effort...its like a fundamental law of nature...immovable and absolute...
- lastly in all this gloom...where is the hope?
I find solace and refer to this end scene from Shakespeare in Love.

This was deleted from the movie but available in the Blue - Ray version.
Someone had taken the effort to upload it on youtube and was still present in my bookmarks
I don't know how to do all the fancy picture additions in a post, but would highly recommend people to view it by following the link.
Love its powerful words and feel this is just apt for the situation, the future and for Kumud.
p.s. apologies for the long post...
hotdogg, before replying to arshi's post i got tempted by your comment, very well written, i agree with u that both saras and kumud made hasty decisions, their actions justified on one hand and they both r at fault on the other, saras more than kumud because he is the one who initiated it all and did not give her the benefit of doubt in explaining what led to all this! as fate would have it, again very well explained by u the theory of dis equilibrium and how one chooses a path and then has to walk on it, come what may..whether its the path chosen by kumud to marry pramad or its the path chosen by saras to plunge into the sea of loneliness and then regret without knowing that it might be too late..like they say u have dug ur own grave now lie in it! and also u r rt that they r like magnets their intensity of love increases when they r apart..and i can also feel that! now i am also scared about the symbolism of her burning every memory..in the movie same thing happens, but that happens once kumud is married to saras and she wants to forget him, but here she is doing it before marriage..i wonder if slb will follow the original plot..as per articles there is the new female lead, i hope the story does not deviate from its original plot and it sticks to the eternal love of samud for each other in spite of their differences!
and arshi, a wonderful post again! i agree the episode was good, but looked a bit rushed, and sad to see the antim saskar of love...the love that was supposed to be eternal and strong in spite of all the qualms and turbulences of life!..again well enacted by both the leads! i really wish and hope that slb sticks to the original plot, all these articles about the change of storyline r a bit disturbing!
