On Gautam & Jennifer:
- awesome episode...stupendous acting by jennifer and gautam...While the stage is that of great sadness, I continue to be blown away each day since this track started...with each new epi these two take the acting excellence to a level which is better than the previous epi..

- we wanted intensity and we are getting it in spades...I believe these two are like magnets...the further they are from each other story-wise, the more intense is their chemistry...I am only hoping their seperation track will keep it on sizzle in both their performances.

On Saras & Kumud:

- I have observed that there is a lot of heart-burn around why kumud is not 'understanding' enough...has been explained long enough but can't resist one more time...which is that
1) most importantly she does not know what has happened at saras - end
2) saras did not make himself clear when he called her up too.. (For e.g. he has not said he thinks LN indirectly killed his mom, about their fight, what was said etc.)
3) despite all her pleading saras said forget it and disconnected..
...so obviously she thinks she's been ditched again...
4) maybe she also remembers gumaan's words...that saras will never make you his wife..
5) worried about her family's plight, prestige...they will be a laughing stock..."Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" types.
6) specially worried about her dad...and feels she will again be the cause of his shame..
7) what's there to live for anyway?...she died the moment saras disconnected..
- so can really emphathize with how she is behaving the way she is..
- Is she impulsive...yes...and justified ...also yes due to the above...specially because of #7.

- about VC...he is a father who is worried about his daughter, his other daughters, his family pride, his prestige earned over a lifetime...its more panic less ego...

- loved kumud...she is back!... no longer the simpering version 2.0, but full on version 1.0...I have always felt she is the tougher one and wears the pants in the relationship...and she demonstrated it how!

-mind - blowing scene the arthi thing...felt straight as if it was something out of Godfather...why? One, in Hindu tradition the women never do this puja. To do this is breaking a stereotype.
she does it on her own...Loved the guts part...
Two, and this is scary...the utter finality of her decision...she has burnt all bridges, all memories, all feelings..now I wonder if she will ever get back with him? Is SLB going to go the whole way as per the novel? No physical union and marriage, at the most a platonic relationship?... Biting nails ...but will worry about it some other day..

- also some philosophy...fantastic depiction of how most of us in life are always bounded by the choices we make ...and actually there is limited free will even in the choices we make (though we like to believe it is entirely free will)..

..its always a state of disequilibrium, a critical state, a fork and the new state of disequilibrium..most of us make decisions when our life / a situation is at a disequilibrium - which in turn arises out of multiple forces / factors / situations all converging on each other, on some of which we have control and on some we don't...the peak of the disequilibrium is a critical state when a decision is either made by us or forced on us due to the forces...but a choice / decision WILL be made since a critical state cannot exist for long..the pressure of the converging forces is too great...Also there are multiple forks / outcomes at the critical state...And once a particular choice / decision is made, the critical state collapses...but due to the choice / decision..you move along one particular path ONLY from the whole range of paths possible...NOW...most of the time once you move forward you can NEVER return back to the EXACT earlier critical state...it is gone forever...and you can only move closer to it or not at all...you are now bound by the new set of forces specific to the new path...this continues till you hit the next disequilibrium..and wash rinse & repeat...

..so here once the decision was made by saras and now by kumud...both have moved along their own paths...which have diverged...they will never be the same samud again..however strong their desire, remorse & effort...its like a fundamental law of nature...immovable and absolute...

- lastly in all this gloom...where is the hope?

I find solace and refer to this end scene from Shakespeare in Love.

This was deleted from the movie but available in the Blue - Ray version.
Someone had taken the effort to upload it on youtube and was still present in my bookmarks

I don't know how to do all the fancy picture additions in a post, but would highly recommend people to view it by following the link.

Love its powerful words and feel this is just apt for the situation, the future and for Kumud.

p.s. apologies for the long post...

hotdogg, before replying to arshi's post i got tempted by your comment, very well written, i agree with u that both saras and kumud made hasty decisions, their actions justified on one hand and they both r at fault on the other, saras more than kumud because he is the one who initiated it all and did not give her the benefit of doubt in explaining what led to all this! as fate would have it, again very well explained by u the theory of dis equilibrium and how one chooses a path and then has to walk on it, come what may..whether its the path chosen by kumud to marry pramad or its the path chosen by saras to plunge into the sea of loneliness and then regret without knowing that it might be too late..like they say u have dug ur own grave now lie in it! and also u r rt that they r like magnets their intensity of love increases when they r apart..and i can also feel that! now i am also scared about the symbolism of her burning every memory..in the movie same thing happens, but that happens once kumud is married to saras and she wants to forget him, but here she is doing it before marriage..i wonder if slb will follow the original plot..as per articles there is the new female lead, i hope the story does not deviate from its original plot and it sticks to the eternal love of samud for each other in spite of their differences!

and arshi, a wonderful post again! i agree the episode was good, but looked a bit rushed, and sad to see the antim saskar of love...the love that was supposed to be eternal and strong in spite of all the qualms and turbulences of life!..again well enacted by both the leads! i really wish and hope that slb sticks to the original plot, all these articles about the change of storyline r a bit disturbing!

Kumud has chosen the path of doing her own antim Sanskar in her own vivah mandap, to keep her fathers maryada,

very well said arshi! she has done antim sanskar of her own self..she will not live for herself anymore, she will live for others, her heart is nothing but a blood pumping machine to keep her alive, she will not feel for anyone's love other than saras's because her heart will only open doors when saras will knock..something in her has died which can only be revived if saras rekindles the breathless being in her with his tender touch, and not to forget those blows😳..which blew us all away!..she might not be able to forget or forgive him that easy but love will rekindle when she sees him again..only if slb goes by the novel😕!

Another wonderful post from you (hotdogg), can't you put the 7 points ( the bold text) as a separate post, a lot of people who are not seeing this will get Kumud's POV.

I feel that many viewers are not able to sit back, disconnect and think Saras only, and then think Kumud only, so the 7 points will help there.

Loved the latter part on limited free will and critical state, so true, I for one always believe that we are a sum of our choices, but yes, this was a mind opener !

For the last three days your posts have been mind blowing, but time constraints, and I have not been able to respond to them, but loving them

Yes, Arshi, our discussions are definitely not bland anymore!
And hotdogg always manages to be philosophical and analytical where others (I plead guilty!) are tossed about in the emotional tsunami of the past few days..

I am puzzled about what the script-writer calls a Samud track coming upnext week?!..
After Kumud has been married to someone else? Where is this going, I wonder?

Since I watch in ignorance of the novel except for Smrth's pearls, the future is completely unknown and black-boxy. I am not even able to hazard a guess as to what's in store... Maybe should request Smrth to put out a few more dots and crosses on his thread!

p.s. on the lighter side, when one gets a bit lonesome being a minority of one on the CB thread, one hops over to Shana's "If I were Kumud" thread! 😆

Excellent!!👏

The moment she reads his mother's letter, she may not only forgive him, she may start blaming herself ( a stand like in book, even without such letter etc.)
As for finality over Saras, well mother's Suicide letter may reconcile him to Desai's, esp. Dukhbaa's forgiveness...their wrath, rightly diverted to LN- Gumaan. Or may not, let's see.

Besides, Cvs have not burnt all mementoes 'as in final close''...
The white chuni is still existing...with her.
On a 'jingoistic' mode, she would have worn it at her 'new' marriage itself...thank god,no such OTT.

hmmm..good thought! she still has that white chunni with her, does thst mean that its only saras that can fill that chunni with colors of love, till then it will remain with her as a kori chunar which shows parallelism to her own life in the future..a loveless marriage to a man who will never love or understand her!

Arshi, what beautifully broken lines 👏 Very apt for today, I felt.

A very high octane episode. I am not even expecting logic here... The Creatives have the added pressure of Channel eyes hovering over them and this heightening of drama and heartbreak quotient is mainly in the service of TRPs.. Danny convieniently disposed... All the near misses... the missed opportunities... The plane trip from Dubai to India may have been uneventful but I'm sure many will be screaming in frustration at their tv screens/devices come Thursday as Saras races against time and destiny to reach VC's home. Intercut with all the rituals of Kumud's "second" marriage.

Coming back to the episode... The last bit (dah sanskar?) was chilling. A very novel take on the usual burning of the beloved's photograph either accidentally or willfully on the wedding mandap, I felt. But this left more of an impact because it was so... Final. So a bit concerned as to how Saras-Kumud will be back again next week but... Full marks to Jennifer. She is a powerhouse and I much prefer her in these highly emotional scenes than in romantic ones... Left me resolved that I would never ever want to face Kumud's anger or her disdain. Dugba... I don't get her today. Why so passive, where's the fire? Has she regressed to the state LN left her in once before? I suspect so.

VC was all ego, reputation and yes hurt, Guniyal is too emotional to even think straight, Dugba seems to be relieving her own worst nightmares... Kumud is dead. Those empty, lifeless eyes say it all. And in the midst of all this, someone has reawakened. The phoenix named Saraswatichandra has risen... But to what end?

Last point, I have to say I do not much like this see-saw of Saras between yes marriage and no marriage... But that is his defining character trait. His weakness, fueled by the circs of his traumatic past. Compounded by his impulsiveness. Just like Kumud has her ego. This is what makes them such a deadly combo. Alas, Saras ought to know that Kumud is no Saraswati. His beloved is not weak. She is much too strong for her own good. And I'm left conflicted now as to whether it is a good thing to be.

@arshi and all...
thanks for your kind words...
However, the inspiration is always the other POVs, discussions, observations on this thread...
like for e.g. realised that the white chunni remains...so there is some hope yet..
not sure about the posting of the 7 points seperately because...
- time contraints prevent regualar follow-ups / responses if it is a seperate thread
- not sure if it will help / whether I have the bandwidth to respond to the potential anti-kumud pro-saras brigade emotional comments which will surely follow
- nice to get a sense of understanding through discussions among friends on your thread...so that I can look forward to the next epi with my internal understanding 'optimized' so to speak.. 😊
BTW: For some reason I keep on going back to the Shakespeare In Love scene I described in my earlier post...very soon both our leads are going to be locked in the fight of their lifetimes...the scene raises hope that if anyone can win it is these two...and that all is not lost...and that there is hope and redemption for both...but it won't be easy ...rather they will have to snatch it back from the misfortune that has hit them...And their journey will be THE love story to watch out for...

Idiotviewer...liked your post..
@Bold - my thoughts exactly, but you have put it just perfectly...The symbolism of finality is what is scary and causes me to ponder if SLB is going 100% as per the novel..
Dugba-
More than regressed, she's caught in a dilemma...saras is the son she never had, the son of her best friend whom she had promised she would look after...all her buried motherly feelings resurfaced and took concrete form when saras was in RN...she certified / gave her personal guarantee on saras when he officially proposed...she encouraged their love to blossom...and now her son has caused heartbreak and ruin to her favorite daughter and by extension her family who gave her shelter from her bad marriage...and then add the unanswered questions...is saras like saraswati or like LN/Gumaan...was her judgement so wrong? ...did she bring on this calamity on kumud? ...whose side should she immediately take?... Her own personal esteem is at stake. That coupled with the repeat of LN experience now with her daughter is amplifying her helplessness...the guilt wears heaviest on this tough lady...not an easy cross to bear ...
