Aaaw noo...thought you won't be around! Arshi the ace...ok let me put in simpler way ( my grouse in first post here...Jyotish and spirituality, original impact)...The original sketch, even after two three months, mere mention of a BG shloka ( didn't know so many would remember it😲) elicits such deep responses. Will we remember this Jyotish act after say a week?

I don't think so, I think it was just a "nice thing " added to his list of qualities, I think the CVs tossed it in

without any serious thought, unlike the BG shloka, which after reading you and Kaadal, seems to have been chosen with a lot of thought

@smrth, Kaadal,

Let me put my understanding of your discussion in a simple way. And please tell me if I have got it right.

So Saras has taken the path of self purification through prayer, and in his prayers are included are those around him, including Guman

Am I right in understanding that?

His attitude to Guman has been proper and correct, but disticlty cold,

and i remember one line in one of the episodes which was that its better to be quiet, else she will do drama,

This actually shows disrespect and contempt, and his behavior is correct only for propriety's sake than out of any real respect for Guman!

Yesterday we saw genuine love for Danny, his love for his father is also immense

So, that leaves only Guman that Saras does not like, do you think she is anywhere in his thoughts or prayers?

Does he not hold a lot of negativity in his heart against her?

When he spoke out against VC, he regretted it and apologized, humbly and sincerely

Yet the outburst against Guman has evoked no remorse in him. Was it due to TRP concerns, or he does like all the Desais, holds her in contempt?

Then she is not in his universe of self, and is it a dilution of his character?

Arshi my dear I don't think even the CV's would have answer for this nor would they have thought about it so much detail. But since we have been stamped "paagal" I would take this to the next level and try to answer you. I think Samarth had this universal concept and I would have liked him to answer this but guess he is got tired and bugged of this. He is already thinking why in the world did I even raise an objection at the first place, never knew the girls around are so insane 😉
I can try to answer this only from a personal perspective, as far as seeing Saras character he is not a person to keep grudge against others. His father left his mother, never loved her but he didn't hold his grudge against him, still kept his respect and wished well. He actually loves him understanding his side of the story. I don't think he holds negativity for Guman as far I understood till now. He shows his respect to her, not an inch lesser nor more. It is like you have a list of people in your inner circle and then a vast list outside. You help that outside circle only in need but not always. This universe of self, is such a huge phrase Arshi. Do you have everyone in your prayers daily ? You may be saying keep everyone happy but then next would surely come the list of everyone who are close to you. She may come in that everyone I feel, he won't wish bad for her, a passive approach as far as I can see. I even feel in the end he may even forgive her for everything she does. I am sure whoever reading this CB would surely think I have gone completely insane 😆

Exactly Arshi. Point is not 'who wants to remember after a week anyways'. The point is, some good script makes it memorable even after a few months. The grouse was about 'flighty' disjoint in one of a serious aspect of this character that I was grimacing about...your question, "what bothers you"...or Kadaal's further extrapolation, " what disconnect in Saras's characterisation"...I was mildly surprises for all my answers were explanatory in earnest...and here I stay illegible! Fault was and is my choise...but on the way, I found excellent explanation by Kaadal. That is what I consider as my gain for all the pain.😊

@kaadal, smrth

Yes insane we all undoubtedly are, but I don't think it's a bad thing to be

It's sanity that's tedious and boring!

Thanks Kaadal, answers my questions somewhat , and so what if CVs didn't think this through so deeply

There are plenty of brilliant brains here on CB, that I can pick on a host of issues, (you both being good examples of that) and that works for me!

Smrth, Thanks to your crib, and our lack of understanding, what a diverse range of topics got discussed

Astrology, string theory, spirituality,

Goes to prove my point, insanity is a good thing

Makes life so interesting!

Samarth, I don't feel the sloka is a coincidence. I remember browsing at that time and coming across an article that stated this sloka is used in Vedic marriage ceremonies. I vaguely rememeber it but the gist of it was that when we marry initially we are able to see the love and care in our partner and appreciate it but as time passes we start to see their faults even though we love them. It was said behind all the conflicts we need to understand that these conflicts are meant to purify our existence. The Vedic principle states that the purpose of a partner is to purify our hearts and existence, so if we go by this rule as well, SC is meant to be a show between Saras and Kumud where Kumud really enters his life to purify him and he submits to her his whole existence. Any better sloka than this ?

Kaadalji and Samarthji,

Thank you for the beautiful explanation of the two slokas with respect to characterization of Kumud and Saras. I would seriously doubt whether the writers thought in that depth.

Abstract is particular trait, the beauty will not be appreciated without explanation by different minds. That makes it worthwhile to read the interpretations here. Thanks once again.

Agree Kaadal😆...in the hindsight, I wud try to follow another gem from Vaishali..." Spirituality is subjective.." Arshi forgive me a non answer...I may fill up reams for aught. Where are my rescuers?

Arshi and Kaadal as light relevance, counterpart shloka (from the same post I mentioned on P5)...'Flowery' translation is all mine. So indulge the exuberance, after all, it's about my fav. Charecter...😳

Kumud,
(Lotus)
Adharam madhuram, vadanam madhuram,
Nayanam madhuram, hasinam madhuram...
Lips mellowed, Person pleasant,
Eyes luscious, smile soothing...

Cvs are surely clever in their choices!👏
