I do not think it was a 10/10 episode. I'd at best give it 8/10.

They are moving too slow. Saras only admitted some ehsaas or bond between them. He still did not come clean on his love for her!

The romantic scene of Saras caressing her face or fiddling with her hair was unnecessary. What if someone had seen them like that? Then Guman would have been proven right no?

Saras with his open physical proximity to Kumud but hidden love/yes for a relation with her is making it damn easy for likes of Guman to wreak havoc in Kumud and her family's life! She can also use it to question Saras' character and create a rift between LN and VC due to Saras' flirting with Kumud despite having refused her.

Yes Kumud would have had it risky today if not for Saras being with her to protect her. But their inability to keep a distance away from each other, to keep their attraction for each other hidden (it's to obvious) and not coming clean on feelings for each other is giving open invitation to trouble for them and their families!

BTW, I feel SLB is stretching this too much now. A viewer who likes to connect the dots, watch episodes carefully and think - might understand the hesitation on part of characters. But an ordinary viewer cannot take this long-stretched drama which can be settled in two episodes with just a few sane and honest talks between leads and their family!

Now it seems to me as if this mil ke bhi na miley thing is beibg deliberately stretched by the SC team.

I did love some elements in tonight's episode. But certain stuff is beginning to test my patience as a viewer taking the whole serial into account!

Do toofan uthe ik saath

Ek aandhi chali jazbaat ki

Do dilon me halchal macha gayee

Duji aandhi rasmon riwazoon ki

Maryada ki mitti ka dher bana gayee

Kya hoga in do masoom dilon ka anjaam

Duniya tod degi dil inke

Ya is rishte ko mil jaayega ik naam?

Did you write this?? It's awesome!! 👏

Episode rating - why did I ever give 10/10 to any episode

This was the best epi ever

10/10 No if, ands, or buts about it! ⭐️

@arshi - I totally agree with your rating. Today's episode was mind blowing. The chemistry between Saras and Kumud was scintillating. I loved how he was so protective of her in the storm and put her safety and well being above himself just like how a loving/caring and concerned husband would do. Despite declaring no relationship between them they always seem to care for each other and want to lessen each other's pain. I also loved the fact that he finally stood up to her and told Guman "Stop it mom" when she was talking rubbish about them spending time together.

Kumud was in pain seeing the whole drama that Guman had created and how her parents must have felt bad and ashamed when they have to stand there and listen to her defaming her character and integrity which in turn is nothing but her way of degrading her family and their upbringing of her. I loved the fact that Dukba supported and reinstated her trust in both Saras and Kumud. Guniyal slapped Kumud but this is how I looked at it and interpreted as her taking our her anger on Guman by slapping Kumud because Guman is the guest and she cannot really do anything to her but she made her shut her mouth by slapping Kumud and making a statement that she is Kumud's mother and was worried about her staying out so late and knows how to keep her in line. VC was the best today when he said that he does not doubt his daughter instead he was worried for her and it was Guman who had to question her son. He also gave a strong an final warning to Guman that he cannot hear her say anything bad about Kumud anymore and if she dares to do that then he will forget that she is his friend's wife/guest at his house and will no longer hesitate to put her in place. That was the best statement that he ever made and Guman was left shocked. Serves that evil witch right!

The scene that stole my heart was when he comes running to her when he sees her hand get burned by the matchstick. It was as if that caring for her has become his instinct and Gautam was fabulous in his expression when he was feeling her pain and wanted to comfort her but got stopped by her due to her self inflicted four feet distance. I am glad that he atleast sensed and admitted to Kumud that there is something between them that keeps bringing them closer despite wanting them to go separate ways. "Kuch toh hai hamare beech" and the way he said it with so much intensity, passion coupled with pain over not comprehending what that feeling is was brilliant. Brilliant performance by GR and Jenny reciprocated perfectly. The man can speak volumes with his eyes and his expressions are flawless. So, yep the episode deserves a 10 as I was left craving for more with Samud scenes that were out of the world.

I on the other hand, am finding these tentative, hesitant steps very intriguing and interesting.

They are young, and attracted to each other, and that hand holding, gentle caressing are natural when two people are falling in love.

Lets not judge them too quickly and too harshly

But yes agree with you, show them to someone like Guman, and these are weapons of mass destruction!

She will misuse these for her own nefarious plans, so I am scared for our Chanku, but don't think that they are doing anything wrong!

@ skepblun ...Let me try to explain why I think its interesting...or why he it feels slow,,,or how the cookie crumbles...

this guy's only unconditonal love was his original mom 'saraswati' who committed suicide in front of him...consequently he has considered that as a personal rejection of his unconditional love...someone whom he loved unconditionally rejected him and kllled herself and left him despite him calling out to her to stop (the lake scene)...no one else has reciprocated / replaced such a love till now,,not his father, not his new mom ...no one...the loss had caused deep hurt and he has built walls to avoid going through the experience again ever...

now kumud has broken through his defenses simply by being the person she is and caused a connection (not in his control at all, happened despite his walls)...our guy likes the feeling...but remmbers the hurt associated with this feeling too...

now our guy simply does not know how to deal with this...he can't believe that there is a possibility for him to give and receive love unconditionally,,,,,he is grappling within himself if this is really happening for real or a fantasy...if it is for real will this also be taken away like the first time?...will the hurt come back again?...is it worth it?...what should be the next step for him to take?...how does he express what he feels when he fears that if he expresses it his 'new' unconditional love kumud may reject him and cause all the pain to come again?...remember our lady is still giving confusing signals...come close to him, helps him unconditionally and then starts running away from him / fighting him / telling him to keep his distance / leave etc.

in yesterday's episode he has become aware and laid it out to her (that indicates how comfortable he is already with her)...i am feeling this, are you?...it's like a final sanity check...if she says me too, he is going to just jump...consequences be damned...that's how deep our lady has penetrated his defenses...

so its a rich trapesty of emotions...the powerful aspects of this story & relationship will be how love becomes the force which clears his mental muck, uplifts him and heals him...and since her love healed him, he will later do anything humanely possible to make sure her 'love' for him is not taken away ever and he always measures up to her 'love'... and i mean her 'love' not limited to being physically with him, but her soul ...for him it will be 2 phases only 'life before kumud' and 'life after kumud'...

...I have not read the book, but have friends who have and that is what the book is all about...come rain or shine, whether you are with each other or married to someone else, in the same city or worlds apart...from the time these two fall for each other NO ONE will be able to take away at any time their 'connection' and fusion of their love and souls...their love will always be an impenetrable space to the entire world and available for only these two... and nothing going forward will change their love for each other...they will have to bow down to society's rules, but in their innermost heart and minds, both will still be showing a finger to the world and always be together...and this love will be their strength to overcome all that life will throw at them...

because it is based on a book...characters written for a book have the liberty of getting pages to develop characters...

SLB has taken an ambitious concept...no one has done this in indian television so far...and full credit to the writers / cast to be able to translate all this complexity into a TRP based format and still retain the flavor...

Having said that I sincerely hope that while retaining the overall direction, the makers don't show these two married off to someone else...It is all good in theory I explained above to show love triumph against this most fearful challenge anyone in love can face... but I know I just won't be able to handle it ... :-(

I just love both these 'dobas' too much now ...

p.s. sorry again for the longish post...

Many thanks.

The original work was written in Gujarati.
It's an epic written in 5 volumes over a span of 15 years, set against the hinge of the 19th & 20th centuries.
Not sure if it was ever translated and if it ever was, whether it captured everything what the writer was trying to convey...

My friends tell me it's scope is staggering...for e.g. Kumud is the daughter of the Vidyachatur who is actually the Prime Minister of Ratnanagari in the novel...

Another thing they tell me...Devdas and Saraswatichandra were both written around the same time and both tackled the theme of love's labor lost in a rigid society...key difference was that in Devdas the weakling hero goes straight to the gutter blaming everyone (including his love!) but himself and in Saraswatichandra the hero rises above himself for his love and is always around in any difficulty...

So its phenomenal that SLB who managed to glamorise a weakling Devdas has taken on a show with a totally opposite positive perspective for the same issue.
