More so why Kumud is still justified is because

We as forum readers/ viewers know through posts or heart in heart that Saras will fall in love and agree for marriage, Kumud does not know. She still can't justify why she needs to be pally with a man who eventually will say no. She is feeling frustrated why she is falling for a guy who has come to say no. Every day she is confronted with the dilemma and fear that today he will say no, how much it will hurt her pride when a person will reject her. It's the fear of rejection / frustration for falling in for a person who is to reject her that brings her back to arrogance. In fact her arrogance is a wall she has put in front of her to stop herself from falling in love.

well i can certainly connect with this aspect of her personality simply coz i am even more hard to please and do not care about being cold or at times rude to people who made the mistake to slight/offend my pride. but yes if such a weird thing were to happen, i would have not done what she did...i would have spoken to my family myself albeit in a very brutal manner about the potential groom who turned out to be an irresponsible coward(from the girl's POV)!😈😆
creative liberties and the larger than life like touch in the narrative and screenplay, like the "i will not show my face" thing aside, the underlying defiance in the nature of the female lead conveyed through this track appeals to me. it adds so many shades to the character kumud.
the main problem i always had with this story was saras's characterization...it is not a commendable thing at all to write a letter to the girl and reject her just like that leaving her alone to deal with the complications this act could bring up in both the families.😵 it was sheer irresponsibility on Saras's part! In the course of this act, he left her insulted. now here in this story she challenges him to come and speak up...its her own sweet pay back time in the current situation.😊
we should not forget that amidst the slowly growing friendship between saras and kumud, the uncomfortable air of the "rejection" still exists. Kumud knows that in a matter of few days, saras will reveal to the family what he has come to India for and the excitement in her family RE her wedding will soon see an end! now we cannot really blame her, can we?😆

I agree...

Kumud did have all her right to be angry on Saras and not show him her face. The marriage proposal came from his father and I don't think Kumud would have imagined that Sara's father might have sent the proposal without consulting Saras. So acc to Kumud, the proposal came from them (Saras's family) which had brought a lot of happiness for her family and her... and then all of a sudden, without any reason, Saras broke it off through a letter. We as the viewers know that Saras never knew of his father's plans and how he is so consumed in his grief and not ready for a marriage... but Kumud doesn't.
And in yest epi, Kumud had just got her kite cut (which has never happened to her and she loses the challenge about not showing her face... so she just decides to get back at Saras with a bit of harmless teasing and taunting. She obviously did not know about Saras's past...
So yes, Kumud does have a bit of arrogance... but why not? That is her characterization.. a character need not always be goody-goody and perfect; no one in the real world is. If male protagonists can be hot-headed and even violent, then I don't see why a lead female character can't be a bit arrogant.

😊 Thank you for making this post.
Since, the 'angry- young- man' charm has lurked around from the time immemorial, male leads with such traits are normal,our minds do not oppose to the image - it's engraved and it's default. Kumud is an anomaly because she is the female lead.We, probably have zero tolerance for female arrogance. I agree that Kumud being rude to Saras is a bit uncalled for but that is where her ego comes in, her pride is hurt by the fact that she- 'ratnanagri's toofaan' was attracted to this guy only by seeing his eyes and then got rejected without so much as a valid reason. The lake incident was required for her to soften her stance and look beyond her hurt ego.
Baaki everyone has explained it perfectly already.
P.s. I didn't like the promo. The story hasn't unfolded yet but I have an inkling it'll give another reason to shout 'boo ya Kumud'.

It was unintentional. And hence i dont blame her at all. I initially grew a bit irritated at her hiding face thingy but still that was probably just because i wanted Romantic scenes between them ;)

@marybarton

Wow! You said perfectly what I wanted to say! Nothing more to add. I totally agree with every word you wrote about Kumud, her psyche and her behaviour. Plus she didn't know of Saras' past so she should be spared of backlash. She was only teasing him, she didn't know what her challenge would trigger in Saras' mind.

I like Kumud and find her a refreshing change among all the meek, mouse-like, weepy leads of most soaps on telly!
