I just recently saw the first few episodes..

Here my honest opinion: JW is a great actress no doubt.. But I agree to an extent that she maybe misfit for Kumud's role. She would have been awesome for glam roles or maybe something else. Dont get me wrong.. she is an awesome actress, I just feel this role requires an old charm to it - a larger than life role of Kumud Sundari maybe not be fitting for her.

On the male lead GR: I havent seen him before, but he looks average in the beginning, initially I thought only physique and ntn else, but hes proving me wrong -- Improvements can be seen in ltr episodes.. Hopefully he may be good in the future.

On the Serial: SLB is sticking to the time tested formula - I thought this is a fresh take to the classic, even then the scenes lack original creativity - it seems as though hes trying to fit Hum dil de chuke sanam on TV.. Wheres the New and Original that SLB brings to cinema??

Till some more improvement - I'll just follow it occasionally.. I'll just hope it improves..

PL NOTE THIS POST IS MY OPINION - If you dont agree with me, try to respect it atleast. Hopefully this forum knows the meaning of a healthy discussion.

Couldn't agree more. She is quite a restrained and subtle actress, a rarity amongst her peers hell-bent on proving that an excess of histrionics, whether is expressions or speech intonation, is the only way to "ACT". I am also surprised that SLB selected JW for this precise reason - he is not exactly known for subtlety. But in this case, I am pleasantly surprised.

Agree,

The girl who plays Kumud is pretty, and she may be a great actor outside of this show in her past (haven't seen her in any other show). I sensed some uneasiness right from the beginning in the way she emoted.

She has a great voice and voice projection. And I can totally see her playing a modern day city girl. However, I'm not convinced of her emotions yet. I am not convinced that she is a Gujarati village belle yet.

I am Gujarati, I've been to Gujarat, Gujarati villages, I know people from there, girls, even modernish girls. So maybe I'm not relating.

Other than this, I think there is something that the creatives/writers missed in visually communicating with the viewers.

Well I think the casting of this show is one of plus points other than all the grandeur. Jennifer as Kumud is as good as it can get and same goes for Gautam as Saras.. They both can act without being over the top..this show requires the leads to have intensity and depth which both Gautam and Jenny have. Those who are not able to see Kumud in Jenny, I would like to know who they think would have done it better than her.

It's your opinion and I respect that because everyone is entitled to their own opinion :)

Like many others I also do feel that Jennifer is doing a great job as Kumud.
Maybe you could give some more time to the show and the characters so that they grow on you :)

i do agree with you about the lack of originality ... i haven't read the novel but im assuming it isn't similar to HDDCS in terms of visualization ... even though i am enjoying the leads interaction it still seems like i am watching just another serial on TV and not a classic coming to life ... having said that, SP isn't very open to swaying from the trodden path so i am not really surprised that instead of a fresh take on the book SLB chose to bring HDDCS on the small screen confined in SC's story.

I'm glad you see it too... SP does try to be different with serials like DABH, Behna etc.. But I have seen it failing at this time slot since SGP got over :( Maybe thats the reason its concentrating more going the traditional way. Also, dont get me wrong, but I feel that leads have also been cast to cache on their rising popularity.. SLB's first venture.. - They are not experimenting just to be on safe side... IMO.

Jennifer is a subtle actress, though not extremely pretty but, I think she is able to emote very well. I have never seen her before, so this is my first impression of her, but I find her doing the job well.
Not over the top but lovely in her own way... By character she is known to be a fiery, independent and pert woman, not a sweetie pie; and I can see her portraying it well.

May be she is not extremely pretty or 'Sundari' like we may want to believe as a fairytale princess, but much more earthy and practical.
If she is supposed to complement Saras character, then she is not very dreamy types but sensitive enough..

lets see how the story develops..

You're entitled to your opinion and I respect it too😊, however I think Jennifer is doing a fabulous job as Kumud...it's only been two weeks and I think as the story continues she'll get into the skin of the character so much so, that I'm sure as the story progresses she'll shine brightly as Kumud and hopefully people who can't see her potential now will start appreciating her in the future episodes😃...
