I completely agree wid u, i am really impressed by Gautam Rode acting and screen presence but leading lady is bit let down. Also the costume is just too revealing.

thats what i also expressed. Gautam Rode is perfect fit for his role but not Jennifer. She is not justifying.

@TM: I guess the SLB tag comes with some high expectations, so yeah... not too impressed with the casting. The sets, costume, location... are all fab, but the cast is yet to impress me.

And for anyone questioning whether Sanaya could have pulled it off better, I just want to remind you that Khushi was a chirpy yet mature character in IPK. Sanaya did full justice to it. She was bubbly and full of verve when needed; in the confines of her home/family. Yet, she was mature when she was on her own and responsible towards what she could do for her family. Yes, the show deteriorated later and Khushi was a caricature, but Sanaya had nothing to do with it.😛

In any case, I am not opining that Sanaya should have played the character of Kumud. SLB saw jenny as his Kumud and I am sure our opinions will not make a difference to him, so either start liking Jenny as Kumud or MoveOn. 😉

Or, start petitions... know anyone that wants the job? 😆

I dont know I have never heard that before, I am wondering how people started assuming Kumud as a bubbly type.

And also I dont think village belle should always be bubbly, funny and chirpy. Kumud portrayed by Jennifer Winget is perfect for me, she has manage to pull it pretty well, mature, suave and strong headed.

Kumud is not supposed to be Bubbly, or a conventional happy go lucky hindi serial leading lady, the whole point is that SLB is trying something different. With that being said, someone mature is needed for the role of Kumud. The write makes the characters, not the audience. I love sanaya as well, and I'm sure she would do a great job with the acting, but I just think SLB wanted someone more mature looking to play her role. KUMUD is supposed to be this way, not the way we want her to be. Give it a chance, we will love her character.

So far Mamsy I am just not feeling it! !Was expecting to be moved and gripped by the whole star cast, concept.grand setting...the whole Bhansali thing in general but it aint doing it for me.I know it's still early days but I dnt see no chemistry between the leads what so ever.Chemistry does not necessarily have to be created by just being in one single frame,it can be felt though a single phone convo,or in this case, through cyber action as long as there is the core essence to feel, ufortunately for me there is none of that!
However I feel Jenny is doing a far better job of acting than Gautam at the moment...he is coming across as stiff, wooden and expressionless!

I don't get where the whole "Kumud is supposed to be bubbly" is coming from.. And that Jennifer doesn't have the innocence... Who said that Kumud is supposed to be bubbly and innocent?? Was that in the novel or something?? I think after all those OTT 4lions shows people just automatically assume that the female lead has to be "innocent", "bubbly", "loud"... What makes you think that there's something wrong with Jennifer's portrayal.. Hasn't it occurred that perhaps Kumud is supposed to be mature and a bit on the serious side. Maybe she's not supposed to be the typical bubbly, happy-go-lucky, innocent, naive girl that we usually get on the small screen.

Shazzy! you here yeh!

Having said that 😉 I never had great expectations from GR so this for me was good. JW with years of acting under her belt could have brought sparks to the screen. But then again I've never been impressed with her acting (not from what I've seen so far) - Maybe SWC will change my mind about her acting skills - Bansali really has hard work ahead of him from what I see.

and one thing I'm dead sure about- I see anything but the innocent gaon ki girl in JW.
I would any day prefer see her in a modern, mature role that would suit her persona more. She dsn't come across as traditional and bholi to me at all. Since this post is on casting I say no to JW in this role (for now) & I don't see why directors (in Indian soaps) try to fit an actor into a particular mold instead of choosing a cast that suits the character. SLB is not a daily soap director which is why my casting expectations from him were much higher.

& having said that I would not have made this post 2 months into the show as the tone would be set by then. This post comes now because the start of a show seems like the right time to discuss casting as opposed to when the show is past its initial week or two.

I think everyone is doing a good job, both jw and gr are doing well and fit the character for me. But there is still room for improvement from both of them. But thats okay cause its just the beginning and im certain they will improve.
Also I don't think kumud's character is suppose to be bubbly, those few times when she was happy and teasing her family or others that didn't automatically mean she's a bubbly person... I mean i know other characters that are like that with their families or little kids but they are still docile and shy and you wouldn't call them bubbly. So i think it's a little early to get a firm grip on how she's suppose to be. So we should all chill on the whole she's not being bubbly enough.
There's little things here and there that the leading couple need to work on but its still the first week maybe they're suppose to be like this. We have to wait and watch but so far they are doing a pretty good job and I can't see anyone else replacing them
