So the show had finally premiered and I must say it was rather captivating in that it was able to capture one's interest immediately and set a bit of tone for the rest of the show.
The most appealing aspect of the premiere was the cinematography and the setting. The visual layout was very vibrant with its complementary colorful tones. The fact that it also showed several locations that have its own unique ambiance was exciting too. It was definitely a sight for sore eyes.
On the other hand, the music was very dramatic. That is to be expected of Indian dramas...it is their own hallmark, after all. The same shouldn't be said of the acting, however. I wish there was more subtlety particularly in those who play the villainous roles. I found Sariswatichandra's stepmom's acting to be too over the top and that particular scene when she was replaying the words of her husband over and over in her head with the dramatic music really had me groaning in exasperation. Like c'mon, that scene would've done so much better with more subtlety. I get it; the lady doesn't want her stepson to be married for god knows what reason. No need to hammer it in my head, SLB. The viewers are not stupid.
Coming to the leads, I thought that their acting was better. SC was an interesting character: he seems to be harboring some dislike for his current parents while worshiping his late mother. The show has built an interesting tension in the relation between SC, his dad, and his stepmom that I'm interested to know why they are like that and what will happen as time goes on. Kumund, on the other hand, seems to have wonderful relations with her family so it's an interesting parallel between the two leads. However, she seems like those same typical Indian drama heroines who are good at everything and will endure anything. I like me some shady characters so I hope that the show fleshes her out more and brings a much more complex, intriguing character. So far, however, she seems okay.
Overall, I'd rate the premiere 8/10. I like how it's going so far and I will certainly tune in for more.
