As the episode starts, we see the Patwardans welcoming the Joshi family. Mr. Joshi behaves in a way, which gives the impression, that he has some personal problems with his wife, and she gives the impression of being a fish out of water. The only person in that family who is in a world of her own, is the daughter, Sonakshi, who is a willful person, whose insubordination is encouraged by the father, whenever the mother tries to bring some reserve in her behavior. The father seems to score points when he puts his wife down, and warns her not to let the outsiders know of their internal problems, at least this is what he conveys by his attitude and behavior. Sonakshi's mother gets her first shock, when she hears the voice of Naina answering her mother, Anjali, saying "Coming Mama" and immediately she notices the similarity in the voice between that of the girl who came to pick Diwakar's picture in the Frame Shop, and this girl in the Patwardan house. Sonakshi unaware of her mother's anxiety, is busy introducing the family members of Daksh, and wants to introduce her to Naina's mother, but she is no where to be found. Mr. Joshi has decided that he would have his daughter's engagement this day, in Patwardhan's house, and he has come decked up and ready, but now the wife feels her anxiety rising. the feeling gets compounded, 
when Naina comes down in search of Anjali, and noticing the lady, wearing the saree similar to Anjali, puts her palm on her shoulder and says, "Mama" and the lady faces her, and Naina says that she is sorry. She moves away, and Supriya Joshi, sees her own child for the first time, face to face, and after that her demeanor is very stiff, and her husband notices it and can not understand why she is behaving like this.
Somehow, they come to the point of exchanging of the rings. Sonakshi is impatient, and holds the hand of Daksh and slips the ring on this finger, and all of them seem to cheer her. Neither Abhi before, and Sonakshi now, have any idea, what a marriage is. It looks as if it is a child's play for them, a time to have a party ! But Daksh is rigid as ever, and his mother asks him to put his ring on Sonakshi's finger, and he finds an excuse, and goes to his room, saying he has left it in his room. Since Daksh does
not return for a long time, Naina leaves the rest and goes up to his room. and helps in searching for the ring. Daksh is very hurt, and seems locked in his own emotions, and finally, he opens his palm and shows it to Naina. She asks him, why he kept them waiting. Daksh wants to know if he is making a wrong move, so he asks Naina, if she really loves Abhi. As it is, Naina is feeling unhappy, that Daksh is going to be with Sonakshi, and she will lose him. Her emotions confuse her, and she tells him, that she expects love to follow - implying she does not love him now, but may be later, and tells Daksh that life is a gamble and one should take things as they come. This too, is a sign of immaturity, when young people try to take decisions on their own, without consulting their elders, for advice. Before they can conclude their discussion, they hear Vibha calling them, and they go downstairs. Daksh puts the ring on Sonakshi's hand, but he still has no smile on his face.
When the rings are exchanged and all are relaxed, Mr. Joshi takes over and says, that he has consulted an astrologer, and has been told that the best day for the marriage is on tenth of the next month. I wonder, if Minoo's astrologer told her the same, as she too said something about the tenth. (10th July is a Sunday, another Maha Episode in the making?) Perhaps, they intend to have a joint wedding on that day. But Sonakshi's mother timidly ventures to give her idea, and says to her husband, that she thought that they could decide this once they went home, but the self assured, egocentric lawyer, brushes aside his wife's opinions and says that he has made the decision that he felt was good for HIS daughter. He is irked by the fact, that the mother has never been around to play her part in his daughter's life. Sonakshi takes the blessing of her father, and then her mother steps forward to give her blessing, but Sonakshi ignores her, may be by habit, and goes to take the blessings of the grooms party, and the mother feels a deep hurt. Finally, it is Vibha to tells Sonakshi to take the blessings of her mother, and she goes to her mother and she blesses her.
Then Mr Patwardan senior, gives his opinion, that in matters like this, both families should be taken into confidence, and that brings the lawyer one notch down, and when Daksh puts his foot down, and tells Joshi, that this will not do. Both families should shoulder the expenses of the wedding and Joshi, has to capitulate saying, that he is dealing with a lawyer, and with a smile, accepts the opinion of Daksh.
Sonakshi wants to impress, and tells Naina, that she could arrange the wedding preparations, and Abhi adds, "Why not?" - there was a time, when his mother did not want her to do any work. They all look at Naina. The great lawyer and father of his beloved daughter, Sonakshi, has his say. "I do not know much of wedding planners, or how much they charge. You can send me whatever bill you want, and you will get your
money." Naina waits a little for effect. She says, "No. I can not charge my best friend any money. Both Abhi and the lawyer are taken aback. They can not understand what this "best friend" relationship is. The Lawyer had no time to inquire about it, neither did the parents of the boy, have bothered to see, if the girl is suited for their son. The mother is devoid of any sharpness of mind, and for her everyone is "good" - and she has not yet woken up to the fact, with Rohini and Sonakshi as her daughters in law, she will have to run up and down the stairs, attending to their needs, as soon as their electric bell rings. Of course her Lord Ganesha will topple the plans, and her son will be in good hands, we have to wait and see, how the Lord does it.

Naina expresses her disquiet to her mother Anjali, and says, that she can not explain, why she is feeling so low, when she thinks of Daksh marrying Sonakshi. The mother asks her, if she has looked into her own heart, and found out, whether she in fact is in love with him.
