Prince Lamba Achamba initially rushes to rescue his Pachmarhi Princessas as she lies gasping for her life. But en route, he is waylaid by his very own kryptonite - Daddaji - who summons him to the haveli. Meanwhile, SKBM phankas are taken aback at the decidedly unethical chain of events at the City Hospital in Bhopal post shootout. Some uneasily wonder if doctors and police had behaved in a similarly callous and unethical manner on Dec 3rd 1984. Ahh''but let us focus on more recent and pressing matters.
At the city hospital in Bhopal, in an operation theater (OT), a team of doctors and nurses work on Puja trying to remove six bullets from her unconscious body. They have removed three and are trying to get to the remainder. The nurse in the team puzzles aloud over who might have brought on such a vicious shooting on the victim. The doctor grimly responds that only Puja could clarify this and that too only if she survived.
Sumitra, Bhavana and Krish are waiting in the corridor outside the OT. Sumitra prays and Bhavana tries to comfort her. Krish tries to find out Puja's condition from a nurse walking down the corridor, but she walks silently past.
Arti goes to pick up her father from Harivansh's office. He sits outside nursing his bleeding toe. Arti takes a look at the wound and coaxes the almost catatonic Harivansh onto her scooty and ties him to herself.
Meanwhile a screen mounted on the hospital wall shows the Daily Sansani, SKBM's news channel, which is blaring its own version of Puja's life story across the airwaves. The news reporter has planets whizzing around behind him. I think Daily Sansani's investigative reporting is done through jyothishis and crystal balls or maybe little packages of embroidered information. The overeager news reporter sensationally asks his audience to pass judgment on our near death Puja. How could a lower middle class girl rise up the ladder so fast? Why, he asks, does Puja stay in a luxurious bungalow, while her family stays in a small house? The reporter speculates whether Puja's meteoric rise and subsequent fame as a singing star was a result of her having had illicit relationships with powerful politicians (euphemism, slept her way up the ladder...Durum Z. Pasta's response: SFW?). Were these bullets the price that she had to pay for choosing a life of luxury? Sumitra and Bhavna are shocked by the news reporter's words. Krish gets agitated and switches off the TV. When other people protest and some even start casting aspersions on Puja's character, Krish gets more agitated and tries to pick a fight. Bhavana calms him down.
At a traffic light junction, Arti spots BBP in a vehicle talking on the phone. BBP is asking someone to control the situation. There is a lot of unnecessary newsmongering and sensationalism going on that needs to be curbed immediately. BBP sees Arti and gets out of his vehicle, calling her name. But Arti is more worried that Harivansh might get to know about Puja's shooting from BBP and she speeds off. BBP looks on with a concerned look.
At the Brija lovenest V.2.0, policeman Govind Shankar (GS) enters complaining that important people wake him up to get things done even at night. There are 2 constables sitting on the couches and there seem to some bottles containing alcohol and some bowls with snacks on the glass topped coffee table. GS throws down a large brown paper bag. A couple of unfunny comic lines ensue. GS asks his two constables what they have been up to for the last 2 hours. Instead of solving the case they seemed to be celebrating and drinking. One of the constables obsequiously says that have already solved the case, that is why they were celebrating!! Nothing happened at the front door. Everything happened upstairs, the door there had been broken down and it looks like the shooting also happened there. GS sarcastically praises his constable, makes himself comfortable on a couch and picks up a glass to drink. When the constable asks him if something was wrong, GS responds that while his constable was showing him what had happened, they needed to display something that had not occurred - that is what he was paid for!!.
At Daddaji's haveli, Daddaji is watching the daily Sansani with Giridhar. It looks like Giridhar has prepared the press briefing that has been released to the media. Daddaji yells at him. Rangoli makes an appearance, she is headed out. Daddaji asks her to dress in something more appropriate. Rangoli says haughtily that she could care less about Puja getting shot, why should she bother to change her appearance? Daddaji retorts that Giridhar and he were not grieving at the shooting either but appearances were important and harshly orders her to change her attire.
Outside the OT in the hospital, the doctors tell Sumitra and Bhavna that it is a miracle that Puja survived such a precarious operation. She was still critical; they had removed four bullets, two still remained inside her. A deluge of reporters assaults the doctor and Sumitra. Crudely, they ask the doctor whether Puja was still alive. And of course - this being India, they expect that medical information on patients will be promptly released to the public before the family. The doctor says the situation is critical, refuses to pose for the cameras and leaves. One reporter shoves a microphone into Sumitra's face and asks how she feels since doctors say there are very slim chances for Puja's survival (hand her a loaded Uzi, she will tell you how she feels!). They ask her to cry for the camerasđĄ; Krish steps in angrily reprimanding the reporters. Reporters ask Krish whether he is Puja's lover, enraging Krish further. Krish almost beats up one of the reporters. Bhavna steps in, handles Krish and politely asks the reporters to leave. She then tries to calm a sobbing and traumatized Sumitra.
At the Tiwari's modest dwelling, Arti tries to feed Harivansh some food and do some housework. She tries not to let on to Harivansh about Puja's condition. The phone rings, it is Bhavana who tells her about Puja's critical condition and Sumitra's distress. Arti puts down the phone, feeds her father and father accidentally says to her that Sumitra is at Puja's and would be late. Before she can say anything else, Harivansh stops eating and lies down to sleep. Tearfully, Arti tells Harivansh, she was going to her mother and would lock the door from the outside. She recalls the bicycle race scene and Puja saying that she would return home to her family. Arti starts sobbing.
At the Brija lovenest V2, gleefully, GS encourages his team to steal valuables, spill things from drawers and overturn tables so as to create a disarrayed appearance. It would look like the house (and Puja) had been subjected to an armed robbery. GS wants to stage a spectacular robbery. GS's phone rings and he responds saying that the case has been solved and that everything was under control. It was indeed a robbery. The scene cuts to BBP standing at a balcony disconnecting his phone. He says, sinisterly, case over!! After 6 bullets how would Puja Tiwari survive? Uh-Oh!!!đ˛
Arti returns to the City Hospital and sees Rangoli, followed by a horde of reporters. Arti wonders what she is doing here. Sumitra says that Rangoli was here to see how Puja was doing. A nurse calls Sumitra away. Rangoli spots Arti in the hospital lobby and stops to bully her (old habits die hard). In a nasty, insulting tone, she tells a shell shocked and tear-spent Arti that if Puja survived, she should take better care of her this time. Arti looks on.
Precap: Several spliced scenes. Through a hospital door portal, Sumitra and Arti look at an unconscious Puja. Arti confronts BBP, threatening that she would seek revenge for her sister's condition, whether it was brought on by his wife or he, himself. BBP looks distressed (but we can't be sure). Krish shows Arti newspaper (Dainik Jagran) headlines where it is printed that Puja's shootout was the result of a grand theft robbery gone bad.
