SEX INVOLVES AN ACTIVE IMAGINATION
Angad Hasija is your quintessential good boy. No rumoured link-ups, no brash behaviour, no reporting late on the sets and definitely no tantrums. His character in the serial Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai too is innocence personified. So when I decided to interview this handsome actor for Hard Talk, I knew it wasn't going to be an easy road ahead. However, much to my surprise, Angad answered our monthly set of naughty and bold questions with ease. Presenting, the very charming Angad Hasija like never before. Enjoy!
Tell us about your first attraction.
I had a crush on my classmate in the seventh standard. I used to wear perfume and dress up well to make sure she noticed me. My maasi's house was close to the school, so I would even rush to her house and stand up on the roof so that I could wave to her while she was passing from there. Sadly, I never gathered the courage to tell her that I liked her.
What was your first date like? How far would you go on a first date?
My first date was with Pari (his wife), three years ago. We went to see the film Om Shanti Om. We hardly spoke. We quietly enjoyed the film and ate a lot of popcorn. After the film, we went to a fancy restaurant for dinner. That's all. First dates are for conversations and at the most for a nice long drive, not for going to bed.
What would you wear on a hot date?
I would wear a white t-shirt, blue jeans, a cap and glares. And it goes without saying that I would wear a nice perfume because women like their men to smell good. Add to that, I'd also wear the attitude of the most-good looking man on earth.
Would you call yourself a flirt?
I am not a flirt, but people flirt with me all the time. I don't mind that as long as the flirting is within limits. Flirting is normal and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
What is your take on one-night stands?
It is not a bad thing at all. It's an individual choice. But one must take precautions, as a one-night stand can ruin lives, if one is not careful. I also believe that one-night stands should remain just a one-night thing. People should not make it a regular habit because they can be addictive.
Have you ever been attracted to someone of the same sex?
Never. And it won't happen in the future either.
Has a guy ever hit on you?
Many times. But I handle such situations very tactfully. I don't indulge in arguments or fights. I just ignore the advances and tell the guy clearly that I am not interested. Plus, I conduct myself well and no one can ever come close to me without my consent.
What is your take on homosexuality and bisexuality?
Everyone has the right to live as they want to, as long as they don't harm anyone. Homosexuals and bisexuals are human beings too and their sexual orientation is their choice. Why should we be judgmental? I know many gays and bisexuals, but I haven't stopped talking to them just because of their sexual preference. To each his own.
What turns you on in a woman?
Long hair, simplicity and eyes. The personality of a woman should be reflected in her happy disposition and smile.
How would you react, if a girl made a pass at you?
I will clearly tell her that friendship is fine and she shouldn't cross her limits. Because I am hooked, booked and committed for life.
What are you views on pre-marital sex?
If adults engage in pre-marital sex, it's fine. But teenagers shouldn't do it. One needs to be responsible. In the day and age of sexual diseases like syphilis and AIDS, to name a few, one must be careful. Condoms should be used.
Do you think men always have sex on their minds?
Not always, but it is definitely on their minds with the right person and at the right time. Sex begins from mind. It all begins with one's thoughts and involves active imagination. Men never make it obvious even if sex is on their mind. It's situational and also depends on where the person is and how busy the person is. A jobless man or an empty mind may think of sex more than a busy person.
How much importance would you give to sex in a relationship?
It is an important part of a relationship, as sex is a basic need, but it can never be the most important part of the relationship. Emotional bonding is very necessary. If there are no emotions involved, then sex is merely lust. If I am not emotionally attached to a person, going to bed with that person is out of question. Sex is not a daily necessity as many assume.
Do you see yourself in a purely physical relationship?
Lust is temporary and doesn't amount to anything in my scheme of things. So the answer would be, no.
Do you think nice guys have a tough time getting the right girl?
No. I believe that if you are nice by nature, you develop a special aura of your own that attracts the opposite sex. Nice guys mostly get the right girl. I think that it is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
Why do men love bitches?
Bitches have this unique quality about them. They are very desirable. Their style can certainly turn men on. It's fun to know them. Plus, men are not into bitching, so they like that quality in bitches because they lack it. You always tend to like what you don't have. In films, many a times, we like seductive bitches more than the heroine.
Have you experienced the casting couch?
I have seen it happen around me but it has never happened with me. I think one should know how to conduct oneself, more importantly, one should know when to draw the line. No one can take advantage of you if you don't allow it.
Showbiz entities are assumed to be loose. How would you react to such assumptions?
Actors are mostly good-looking, as it's a professional necessity. We are also exposed to the media at all times, so people assume that we are loose. But that isn't true. All kinds of people exist in all kinds of professions. Maybe a few actors have been in the news for all that, but the whole fraternity is definitely not the same.
Would you take back your partner who has strayed in a relationship if she regretted it later?
I will never forgive my partner for cheating on me even if she expresses her regret and repents endlessly. When I give 100 per cent to a relationship, I expect the same in return. There is no substitute for fidelity. No excuse can make up for straying. I would never tolerate it. I'd just dump the person and move on.
What is your opinion on open marriages/open relationships?
A stamp of marriage is not necessary if the people involved take responsibility. But I think one must have their family's consent. Life is all about loving your parents like Karan Johar says. Your happiness at the cost of your parent's happiness is just not acceptable. So that way, I guess marriage becomes a necessity in the Indian society.
Tell us about your wildest fantasy.
I want to be on an exotic island owned by me, where the sun's rays are not very strong so that we don't tan, even if we lie on the beach the whole day. There must be cakes, pastries and all fatty food. Wine and candles are a must too. Above all, there should be liquid chocolate. Think no further. Just fantasize.
