Yesterday Mamaji mentioned about P&G sponsoring education programmes 'Paro India...Baro India"...I think its a good attempt on the part of the production to include this "programme" so that people can know of this "education prog." for children..

Procter and Gamble had started this programme called "Shiksha" in 2008 along with CRY.The project works towards enrolling more children into formal schools and promotion of retention in schools, as also work for all-round development of children...

does anyone have any more idea? pls share...

also, want to extend the discussion...is love only romantic..the volunteers of P&G are also doing something out of love...how would u evaluate this love....?

Havent seen yesterday's episode. In the episode itself he mentions it is it?

I have heard about "Shiksha" programme. Actually, there are many such programmes where multi-national charity organizations (like CRY) sponsor in India. There is one more programme called "Hole in the wall". It is mainly to introduce computers to slum children, sponsored by NIIT (of India). One more I remember is, world links project which is organized by World links (US based). UNICEF also sponsors many education initiatives in India. One such project is "Meena communications" which is basically towards changing the perceptions and behavior that hamper the survival, protection and development of female.

Actually, there are many programmes co-sponsored by multinational orgns & Indian govt. to promote educaton sply in rural India. But, the basic problem which still exist in rural areas is the awareness in people. Until unless people are aware of the importance of education (irrespective of gender), these programmes wont be 100% successful.

There are many charity based organisations which are supported by big corporate houses like TATA's ,Infosys etc which work towards education and other social causes,they even encourage their employees to volunteer to help them in their progarmme . Two such organisation which i am aware of are - Maitree and Helping hand

Also we saw Neeta Ambani in IPL matches she was with the girls of her charity based foundation(i don't remember the name something like Nanhi kali or so)

Such kinds of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities are always welcome. This should encourage other companies to take similar attempts. The Indian consumer should show their support aswell.

Now the important part should be to help P&G with this, while also make a research/survey/analysis on how they treat their Indian employees, and also their policies towards their suppliers/stake holders (i.e. if they follow Fair Trade policies and other environmentally friendly policies).

If P&G comes out clean, and therefore a good example ... the Indian consumer should prefer them over other companies....unless the other companies offer similar CSR actions.

@I-T, Indian consumers means the people who buy P&G products is it? If so, what is the relation between Indian consumers and the programmes by P&G (or any other company)?
