Chapter 3
PC and Ragini run to Kaushi. Both are calling out to her, but there is no response from kaushi. Ragini says "Bauji main doctor ko phone karti hoon." PC says "Haan, jaldi phone kar." Ragini rushes to make a call to the doctor and tells him to come to kaushalya nivas as soon as possible. Malti comes down and sees this; she says "Hey raam, yeh maa ji ko kya hua?" Malti too runs to kaushi and asks PC about kaushi. PC tells her that he does not know how she fainted. Ragini comes rushing and says "bauji, doctor ne kaha ki woh aa rahe hai." Pc says "Ragini beta, meri madat kar apni ma ko kamre mein le jaane ke liye." Ragini agrees and both take her to the room. The doctor comes; malti brings her in the room. Ragini steps aside. The doctor does kaushi's check up, and says that due to very low blood pressure she has fainted, and more over she has very high fever. She has to take very good care of herself; otherwise it can be very bad for her. Ragini says "aap chinta mat kijiye doctor, main ma ko koi kaam nahi karne dungi." The dr says "Good! Maine inhe injection de diya hai, subah tak inhe hosh aa jaayega...aap bas iss baat ka dhyaan rakhiye, ki yeh koi kaam na kare, aur inhe kisi bhi cheez ka stress na diya jaaye." Everyone agrees. Malti thinks "Lo, ab iska matlab hai, ki ghar ka saara kaam mujhe karna hoga? Hey bhagwaan." "The doctor gives PC the prescription and tells him to get these medications as soon as possible, as they are very important. Pc says "Ji. Main aaj hi le aata hoon." The doctor takes the leave. Pc says "Malti, kaushalya ji ka khayaal rakhna, main zara dawaa le aaon." Malti says 'Ji bauji."
Ragini comes in the room and sees kaushalya lie sick in bed. Ragini says "bhabi, aap jaaiye, main maa ji ke paas baith jaati hoon." Malti looks at ragini and says "Theek hai." Malti leaves, and ragini takes a seat next to kaushi. Malti looks at ragini and sighs in relief, and leaves.
Ragini sees that there is no water on the table, so she goes to the kitchen and gets water and places it on the side table. PC comes there with medications and says "Ragini yeh teri ma dawah." Ragini takes the medications and places them in the top drawer of the side table.
Vinu arrives from the office. and finds no one outside. Malti comes and says "Arrey aap gaye." Vinu says "Haan, par baaki sab...baaki sab kahaan hai malti?" malti says "Woh maa ji ki tabiyat bohut kharaab hai, toh sab unke paas baithe hai." Vinu says "Tabiyat kharaab hai? Kyun kya hua ma ko?" Malti says "Unhe low blood pressure ke kaaran chakkar aa gaye the aur woh behosh ho gayi...aur toh aur unhe bohut tez bhukaar bhi hai." vinu is shocked and says "Kya? Malti ma ki tabiyat itni kharaab hai, aur kisine mujhe phone karke bataya tak nahi?" Malti says "Ab aap kaam pe the...aapko kaam pe disturb karti toh aapke boss kya sochte? Pehle hi kam tankha hai aapki..." Vinu looks angrily at Malti and walks off.
Ragini says "Bauji, bhaiya abhi aate hi honge, main jaakar khaana bana deti hoon, bhook lagi hogi na unhe." Pc nods and ragini leaves, she sees vinu at the door, and says "Bhaiya aap aa gaaye." Vinu enters in tension and says "Ragini, bauji, ma ki tabiyat itni kharaab hai aur aap mein se kisine mujhe phone karke batana zaroori nahin samjha?" Ragini says "Bhaiya, hum aapko disturb nahin karna chahte the, aur ma abhi theek hai...unhe doctor ne injection de diya hai, subah tak hosh aa jaayega." Vinu goes and sits besides kaushi. Ragini says "Bhaiya, main aapke liye paani laati hoon." Ragini leaves. Malti is in the kitchen nibbling away on food. Ragini comes there and gets water. She is about to leave, but stops. She says "Bhabi...zara daal dekh lengi please." Malti looks at her and just nods. Ragini smiles and leaves. Malti sees the tie and rushes to her room to watch her show.
Ragini gives the water to Vinu and PC and sits along with them. Ragini says "Bhaiya, aap jaake muh haath ho lijiye, main tab khaana laga deti hoon. Bauji aap bhi aa jaaiye." Both nod and leave for dinner, Ragini turns the light off and goes outside aswell, leaving kaushi to rest.
Ragini comes to the kitchen and smells something burning. She sees that the daal is left on the stove. She uickly turns the stove off, and sees that the daal has burnt. Malti comes downstairs after watching her Tv show. Ragini sees that malti has arrived. She says "Bhabi, aap kahaan chali gayi thi? Maine aapko daal pe dhayaan rakhne ko kaha tha." Malti says "Woh mere dhyaan se nikal gaya." Ragini is still calm and says "Aise kaise dimaag se nikal bhabi. Ab bhaiya aur bauji ko kya khilaaon?" Malti gets angry and says "Kaha na tujhe ki mere dimaag se nikal gaya. Aur agar tina hi hai, toh baahar se khaana mangwa le." Malti leaves in anger. Ragini gets upset. She looks at the burnt daal and then thinks about what to do. She quickly prepares another dish. Pc and vinu are waiting at the table along with malti. Ragini begins to set the table. Malti is surprised that in such short time ragini prepared another dish. Vinu says "arrey wah aaloo ki sazi banayi hai aaj." Ragini smiles. Everyone has their dinner. Vinu says "Malti, tum ragini madat kardo, ghar ka kam karne mein." Malti is surprised and says "uhhhb...main?" Vinu says "main matlab? Tum nahin karogi toh koun karega? Jao jaake kaam karo." Ragini says "Bhaiya, rehne dijiye, main karlungi." Malti says "suna...woh keh rahi hai woh karlegi." Vinu says "tum agar kuch kaam karlogi toh tumhara kuch nahin jaayega." Malti looks angrily at vinu and then looks away. Ragini says "Bhaiya, kyun bhabi ko daant rahe ho. Main karloongi. Aap jaakar araam kijiye, kaafi raat hogayi hai, aapko subah kaam pe bhi jaana hai na." Vinu says "par ma..." Ragini says "Main hoon ma ke liye." Vinu smiles. PC says "arrey beta, tune khaana nahin khaaya." Ragini says "Bauji main nahin khaungi, maine mannat maangi hai." Vinu is confused and says "Mannat?" Ragini says "Ji bhaiya, maine mannat maangi hai ki jab tak maa theek nahin ho jaati, main kuch khaungi peeyungi nahin." PC and Vinu are shocked. Malti gives a "Great on more drama" look. PC says "Beta, yeh sab?" Ragini teasingly says "Please bauji. Aap mere aur bhagwaan ji ke beech mein mat padiye." PC says "Ragini main tumhare aur tumhare bhagwaan ke beech nahi aa raha hoon, par beta aisi mannat rakhne se tumhari tabiyat kharaab ho sakti hai." Ragini smiles and says "Bauji, mere saath mera bhagwaan hai, woh mujhe kuch nahi hone denge." Pc says "Beta par…" Ragini says "Bau ji please." PC agrees even without wanting to.
Ragini goes to the room where kaushi is lying, and sits besides her. Slowly she dozes of to sleep. In the morning kaushi finally gains conscience, she sees Ragini sitting besides her bed. Kaushi looks on at Ragini. Kaushi tired getting out of the bed, ragini wakes up hearing some noise. She sees Kaushi has woken up. Ragini says "Ma, aapko hosh aa gaya. Ab aapki tabiyat kaisi hai?" Kaushi says "Theek hoon." Kaushi is about to get up but ragini stops her saying that she needs to rest for atleast 3-4 days. Kaushi says "Nahin main theek hoon." Ragini says "Please ma, doctor ne aapko uthne se sakth mana kiya hai. Please aap araam kijiye." Ragini makes kaushi lay down on bed, and says "Maa, agar aapko kuch chahiye toh mujhe bata dejiyega." Kaushi nods. Ragini says "Ma, main zara tayaar hokar, pooja karke aati hoon." Kaushi nods. "Aapko kuch chahiye toh nahin?" Kaushi slightly shakes her head and says "nahin." Ragini smiles and says "Main abhi aati hoon." Ragini leaves to take a shower and to do the pooja.
PC enters and sees that Kaushi has gained conscious. He sits beisdes her and asks "Ab aapki tabiyat kaisi hai" Kaushi nods and says "Ab theek hoon." Ragini sings the aarti. Pc and Kaushi hear Ragini. PC says "Main abhi aaya." Kaushi smiles, Pc leaves to the pooja ghar. Everyone gathers for the aarti. Ragini gives the aarti to everyone, and then goes to Kaushi's room and gives her the aarti and the offering. Kaushi happily takes it. Ragini puts the plate aside and says "Ma main aapke liye kuch khaane ko lekar aati hoon, phir aapko dawah bhi leni hai na." Ragini smiles and leaves to get food for Kaushi. PC sees this and is smiling. As soon as Ragini leaves, Pc enters and sits beside Kaushi and says "Kaushalya ji aapko pata hai, raat bhar ragini aapki dekh rek karti rahi. Kal se kuch nahin khaaya isne." Kaushi is shocked and says "Kya?" Pc nods and says "usne mannat maangi thi, ki jab tak aap theek nahi ho jaati yeh kuch khaayegi peeyegi nahi." Kaushi is surprised. "Ma." Kaushi looks towards the door and sees Ragini there with food. Ragini smilingly enters and sits beside her. Kaushi says "tune kal se kuch nahin khaaya?" Ragini's smile fades away and she looks at PC. PC nods with a slight smile. Ragini looks at Kaushi and slowly shakes her head no. Kaushi looks on at Ragini and takes the plate from Ragini's hand. She takes a spoonful of rice and looks at Ragini. Kaushi brings her hand forward and says "Le kha." Ragini looks surprisingly at Kaushi. Kaushi says, "Aise kya dekh rahi hai? kha." Ragini has teary eyes, she eats from kaushi's hand. PC smiles seeing this. Kaushi says "aainda se aisi mannat maangne ki koi zaroorat nahin. Mere liye apna khaana mat chod." Ragini says "Main yeh apni ma ke liye kar rahi thi." Kaushi looks on at Ragini. Ragini wipes her tears and says "Main bhi na, yeh ain aapke liye laayi thi." Ragini brings her hand forward to feed Kaushi; kaushi eats it after a while.
Malti enters and says "Bau ji, ek khush khabri hai." PC, Ragini and Kaushi look at Malti. PC says "Arrey bahu bohut khush ho, koun si khush khabri laayi ho?" Malti says "Arrey Bauji, Ragini ke liye ek Rishta aaya hai." PC smiles and says "Rishta?" Malti nods and says "bohut hi ameer log hai bauji, Ragini wahaan Raaj karegi." Pc says "arrey par ladka koun hai? kaisa hai? kuch toh batao." Malti scratches her head and says "yeh toh maine poocha nahi." Pc rolls his eyes. "Par Ma ne kaha ki woh bohut ache log hai. aur aaj shaam ko aa rahe hai Ragini ko dekhne." Ragini is surprised, PC says "Kya? Aaj shaam Ko? Par bahu, humne ladke ko jaante tak nahin, koun hai woh, kya karta hai, humein kuch nahin pata, woh sab chodo humein toh yeh nahin pata ki woh dikhne mein kaisa hai." Malti says "arrey bauji woh kal aa rahe hai na, toh dekh lijiyega aur sab kuch pooch lena." PC is curious, kaushi too gets thinking. Ragini says "uhhh...main abhi aayi." Ragini leaves from there. Malti says "Sharmaa gayi lagta hai." and smiles.
Malti is doing all the preparations for the evening. Vinu says "yeh sab kya ho raha hai? Malti says "Aaj Ragini ko ladke waale dekhne aa rahe hai." vinu is shocked and says "Kya? Ladke waale aa rahe hain? Woh bhi aaj shaam ko, aur mujhe kisine batana zaroori nahi samjha?" Malti says "Arrey meri pati dev, yeh sab achanak se hua, subah ma ka phone aaya aur mujhe bataya ki unhone ke Ragini ke liye ek ladka dekha hai, aur aaj shaam ko usse dekhne aa rahe hain." Vinu says "Malti, tumhari ma ko kam se kam humein bata dena chahiye tha, aur ladke ki ek photo bhej dete. Na unhone Ragini ko dekha hai, aur humne ladke ko." Malti looks at Vinu and says "Dekho ji, meri ma ke baare mein aisa mat boliye, arrey woh iss ghar ko apna maanti hai, isiliye to hiss ghar ka bhala chahti hai. ab kab tak Ragini hum par bhoj bankar rahegi? Iski umar ki ladkiyo ki shaadi bhi hogayi aur bache bhi hogaye hai. 23 ki hogayi hai, ab shaadi nahin karegi toh kab karegi?" Vinu gets angry and says "Meri behn iss ghar mein bhoj nahi hai. SAMAJH MEIN AAYI BAAT." Malti gets scared and looks down. "Aaj toh yeh baat kehdi tumne, aainda bhool ke bhi aisi baat muh se nikli na, toh mujhse bura koi nahi." Vinu leaves in anger (Ragini overhears thi) and malti says "hey bhagwaan itni si baat par itna gussa."
Ragini is standing by the window and is in deep thoughts. Malti enters saying "Arrey Ragini tu abhi tak tayaar nahi huyi? Jaldi kar ladke waale aate honge." Ragini isn't happy but says "Ji bhabi." Malti leaves. Ragini picks up the saree she is to wear and has teary eyes. PC is in thoughts. Kaushi says "Kya hua ji? Bade pareshaan lag rahe ho." Pc says "Kuch nahin, woh ragini ka...rishta." Kaushi says "toh pareshaan kyun ho? Yeh toh achi baat hai na?" PC says "par main darr raha hoon ki kahin yeh ladka bhi yeh jaan ke ki ragini humari beti nahi hai, usse napasand na karde." Kaushi says "aap bekaar mein pareshaan ho rahe ho...bahu ki ma ne rishta bheja hai, toh ladko waalo ko bataya hi hoga." PC nods. "aap tayaar ho jaaiye, ladke waale aate hi honge." Kaushi leaves.
Vinu goes to malti and says "malti sab tayaariya hogayi?" Malti says "Ji, sab hogaya hai." they hear the horn and malti says "lagta hai woh aagaye." She goes to check and sees the car has arrived. Malti is surprised to see the car is Mercedes. Vinu comes outside to see; malti says "Hey bhagwaan, vinu ji gaadi dekh rahe aap. Mercedes (says in Indian style)" Vinu says "Malti, gaadi baad mein dekh lena, pehle jaake unka swagat toh karo." Malti puts her hand on her head and says "Main toh bhool hi gayi." Vinu says "Main, ma bauji ko bula ke laata hoon."
The door of the white Mercedes opens, steps a out a man, Malti is surprised to see the guy. Kaushi, Pc and Vinu come out to greet the family. An old man steps out of the car, he should be roughly about 65, with grey hair. PC happily greets the old man and says "aaiye malhotra ji." The old man turns and says "Yeh mera beta Arya." The guy takes the blessing of PC and looks eye to eye at PC. He is tall, well built, with beautiful hazel eyes, fair in complexion. Arya says "Namaste uncle ji." PC smiles and says "Namaste beta, andar aaiye." Pc invites them in. 10 people enter with big baskets and gifts. Malti thinks "Ma ne itna acha ladka kahan se dhoonda Ragini ke liye, woh toh keh rahi thi ki iss shaadi se Ragini ki...zindagi...pata nain ma kya kar rahi hai." Malti goes inside, where everyone is seated.
Malhotra says "Sharma ji, yeh aapke liye." PC looks at all the wrapped baskets and Gifts and is surprised. PC says "Malhotra ji yeh sab." Malhotra says "Yeh humari parampara hai." Malhotra gets the guys to eaves the gifts on the table and leave.
PC says "Malhotra ji, iss sab ki kya zaroorat thi." Malhotra says "Zaroorat thi sharma ji." PC smiles and they get talking. PC says Kaushalya ji, zaraa Ragini ko bulaiye." Kaushi smiles and nods. Kaushi goes upstairs and says "ragini, chalo, neeche tumhe bula rahe hai." Ragini looks at Kaushi and nods yes. Ragini goes downstairs with Kaushi and Malti. Arya sees Ragini with lovingly eyes. Ragini sits down trying to avoid looking up. PC says "Malhotra ji, isse pehle ki aap kuch bhi nateeje pe pohunche main ek baat aapko bata dena chahta hoon, Ragini...Ragini humari beti nahin hai, humne isse godh liya hai. Par hume isse apni beti ki tarah paala hai." Malhotra smiles and says "sharma ji, hum jaante hai. aur humein iss baat se koi fark nahin padta ki Ragini anaath hai. hum iske gun jaankar yeh rishta lekar aaye hain." PC smiles. Arya looks at her. Malhotra says "Arya, agar tumhe Ragini se kuch poochna hai toh, abhi pooch lo." Arya looks at Ragini and then at his father smilingly and says "Mujhe kuch nahi poochna." PC says "Ragini...beta tujhe kuch poochna hai arya se?" Ragini hesitantly looks up at arya and then at PC, she slightly shakes her head and looks down again." Malhotra says "Ragini, aapse ek baat puchoon?" Ragini looks up and says "Ji." Malhotra says "tumhe yeh rishta manzoor hai?" Ragini looks up surprisingly at malhotra and looks at PC. Pc smiles and nods yes. Ragini smiles at Pc and then looks at malhotra and says "Ji." Malhotra smiles and says "Toh sharma ji, sagaai karlein?" PC is surprised and says "Ji? Sagaai?" Malhotra smiles and says "Ji, hum toh tayaari karke aaye the." PC is hesitant and unsure, but still agrees.
PC is in his room taking money out for shagun from his wardrobe. Kaushi enters and says "suniye, woh saari tayaariyan karke aaye hai, pehle baaki baatein toh karlete." PC says "Baatein toh hoti rahengi kaushalya ji, pehle sagaai toh..." There's aknock on the door. Pc opents the door, it's arya's dad. Pc says "malhotra ji, hum bas aane hi waale the." Arya's dad says "Sharma ji, main aapse ek baat kehna chahta hoon, humein Ragini ke siwah aur kuch nahi chahiye. Toh agar aapko yeh lagta hai ki humein dahej...toh main aapko bata doon ki mujhe koi dahej nahin chahiye, bas aapki beti Ragini." PC smiles and says 'aapne toh humari chinta hi door kardi malhotra ji." Malhotra smiles and says "sagaai ke liye chalein?" PC smiles and says "Ji."
The engagement takes place. Everyone is happy besides Malti. Malhotra's take their leave. As soon as they leave, malti sneaks to give her mom a call. "hello ma. Main malti...ma aapne toh itna acha aur ameer gharane ka ladka bheja hai. Aap toh keh rahi thi ki yeh shaadi ragini ki zindagi barbaad kardegi." The mom says "arrey Malti, teri ma ne koi kachi goliyan nahin kheli. Rishtaa aaya tha. Par uss ladke ka nahi...ussi ladke ke baap ka." Malti is shocked and then has a smile. She says "Kya? Aap aapne woh budhe ka rishta ragini se karwaya hai?" the mom says "Haan." Malti says "phir jisse ragini ki sagaai hai woh?" Mom says "arrey who toh bhaade pe lekar aaye the malhotra ji, sagaai toh uss ladke se hogayi par shaadi ke din dulha uss ladke ka baap hoga." Malti and the mom laugh. Malti says "Ma, maan gayi aapko, ab ragini zindagi bhar royegi." "Malti" calls out a voice. Malti gets scared and turns around, and finds vinu standing right behind her. She is shocked to see him.
Precap: Ragini is looking at her engagement ring and is thinking about Arya. On the other side malhotra is paying arya money for acting.
