And I'm not saying this just cuz of the lack of even a basic storyline....the production values are terrible....they literally copy/paste and repeat their OWN episodes from a year back😕😆

Yeah, Anu...Scrubs was awesome! I loved Dr. Cox too! I just didn't want to compare it to DMG...😆
DC was quite good, actually...I shouldn't have compared it to DMG ....but I don't have much respect for The O.C. - some bad memories are attached to this show...
But I meant these shows - all teen shows - they are not considered to be 'award worthy' shows in America...hence they are never nominated for the Emmys or any other awards....this doesn't mean that they are bad shows, just not up to the standard of the more heavy duty dramas...the Sopranos, CSI, etc.

I agree Dil Mil Gaye has horrible production values, but I don't see how Gossip Girl, OC, or DC are better. Nate jumps from girl to girl. Marissa shoots someone (sorry if anyone got spoiled), and Joey makes a snap decision randomly in the end to go to Pacey. There's nothing "thinking" about those shows either, and are specifically manipulative for major cliffhangers as people hook up randomly with others. Nothing crtically acclaimable about that either.

And D.C. got pretty twisted after a while too😕

Oh, I hope that I don't come of elitist either, and I don't think you are necessarily because as you said you aren't going in DMG's forum and bashing it. And I agree the Filmfare awards are a joke as well, being held in Yash Chopra's production studios. Everything is based on opinion, and you are fully able to have your own. I guess, that while I love Bidaai, and am really excited for it, I can't see the ripping apart of another popular Indian show when I don't find one to be incredibly better then the other one.

And I never said there was anything 'thinking' about the O.C., D.C either😕😆.....Like I just said to Shumi in the post above, I can see that these American teen soaps are a different category from the more acclaimed dramas like The Sopranos, CSI etc.....but despite the fact that they twist their storylines in pretty crazy manners with all the characters hopping b/w bed partners in the blink of an eye or other things, none of it can compare to the route of buffonery that DMG has taken.....with hardly a single moment of rationality or dignity for any of it's characters....that is why I feel the D.C, Scrubs, O.C. etc are better cuz the characters in them are better rounded.

To go with Scrubs in particular, which was the actual inspiration for DMG, they have all this quirky comedy in the show, and yet when they have their moments of sobreity, those are beautifully interwoven. It was only past the 5th or 6th season that the show started getting inane. DMG hardly managed to maintain 6 months of it😕😆

Oh no you're not coming off elitist, not to worry!

It is understandable that if you love both shows equally, then you wouldn't like to see one being 'pulled down' or anything in favor of the other.....I wasn't really trying to 'pull down' DMG in anyway....I have been an ardent fan it's early days, but I don't think the show currently is anything much to write home about, which is why I said I can't see how it can be compared to Bidaai which I feel is excellent right now.

I'm excited about Bidaai cuz I haven't seen this nice a treatment of family relationships in a show in quite a while.....and that is why I feel it's a great show.

Ah, I got your point now. I guess I can swallow the buffoonery of DMG easier then the random relationships on the other shows. I only enjoyed One Tree Hill at least a bit because of the Nathan/Haley relationship. Otherwise, I just roll my eyes and get annoyed at the relationship switching.

I agree Scrubs is a way better show, but then again, comparing American to Indian shows, will always show the American characters as more dignified and rational. Well, at least I think so. Hope I didn't offend anyone. 😊

@asingla: Well yes, in general, American shows have better production values and more variety in storylines.....though they are not all perfect...they have their moments of dragging and nonsense as well....like how Lost got so twisted later on and how Heroes is dragging right now....ughhh...LOL

I think Indian shows do have the potential to depict family bonding and relationships well since that is a big part of the culture....but then, as a ppl in general, Indians are prone to a lot of drama, which invariably reflects in art forms like movies and TV shows as well.....the 'masala' that is uniquely Indian....LOL

In general though, I would also like to see more variety being attempted on Indian TV....more of the classier mystery/thriller show variety and something more than just slapstick inane comedy....

Oh, I quit Heroes this season. First season was amazing, but got too way confusing and weird for me now with the eclipse and Sylar and Elle, and everything. Indian shows are way better with family bonding and I never have to watch a scene that I think is too provocative or uncomfortable, which is nice when I watch with my mom. However, the drama does get overbearing, in almost all shows. But Indian shows have come a long way since a decade ago, and I think they're only going to get better. Bidaai is a good step forward.
