I think what he did to save his family was lagit, but hiding it for such a long time wasn't... trust me, I know from frist hand how it is to hide things from parents and their ways of finding out... he should've told them right when babuji was getting suspicious [lunch box episode]... and especially the mess he got into..it almost became like a snowball effect
If i was in Vinu's place, maybe i would not have told anything at the start, but would have definitely told my parents and even my siblings when i was more settled, and especially when i would have things going the wrong way.

Like u said the lunch box episode, the money missing, Naveen showing him the blank stamp paper that he had signed. Vinu also was trying to tell Bauji, but Malti stopped him.

If i were in his place, i would not have listened to my spouse and trusted my family in supporting me and told them the truth.
