Pihu continued to read, and didn't notice that it was morning. The birds were singing outside and Sudama, the chauffer from next door was revving their car noisily. But Pihu was now engrossed in the novel. She had given it a second chance, and now, she liked it. Yes the protagonist, the woman named Kylie, was quite a gal. She reminded Pihu a lot of herself. Just then there was a knock on the door and it opened. Pihu's dad stood looking very tired.
"What is it Dad? I'm safe. No one has kidnapped me."
Pihu's Dad wasn't amused, " Look beta, this is no joke. I won't insist on this house arrest unless I thought it was necessary. So please take this seriously."
"Dad. It's not easy for anyone to just walk in here and carry me off. I'm 5 foot 7 and I weigh 55 Kgs."
"Well good then! I'm glad that you are that tall and that heavy. It's another point in our favour. Just don't become like your mom."
Pihu made a face at her dad. Dad smiled and closed the door.
Pihu was just about to read again when there was another knock. Then Prateik opened the door to check on Pihu.
"You okay sis? Please be careful won't you. And you remember the lecture I gave you about choosing the right guy?"
Pihu rolled her eyes and continued to read, but it was futile, she was reading the same sentence for the fifth time with all these interruptions.
Suddenly Prateik was yelling, "Second Chances!! Di, you are reading this?? I can't believe this!"
Pihu shushed him, "Sssshh! what's with the screaming? and yeah I'm reading. So what?"
Prateik decided to say nothing. He got up and walked out of the room closing the door behind him. He had a smile on his face. Abhay had taken his advice. It had worked!
