It was two weeks after the honeymoon. Manya was seated in her room, combing her hair. Akash bounced in the room and grabbed her hand.
A: Manya, chalo!!
M: Kahan?!
Akash laughed and picked her up in his arms, racing to out the room. Manya laughed as she watched him grin in excitement. He raced to the room next to theirs and spread his arms out.
A: TADA!!!!!
Manya gasped. The room was beautifully decorated in light red, leaving options for either gender for the baby. Teddy bears, toys, and a cute little crib surrounded the room.
M: Akash, yeh sab..?
A: Yeh sab mere baby ke liye!
M: Lakein, Akash, itni jaldhi..?
A: Itni jaldhi mathlab? I think its not at all jaldhi. Akhir hamara baby hoga, yaan hogi...we have to be prepared, right, jaan?!
Manya nodded as he laughed and held on to her tight.
A: Lakein yeh sab kuch nain. Baby ke liye surprise ho, aur uski ma ke liye na ho?
M: Mathlab?
A: Mathlab, Cinderella, ke aaj shyam hamare naam! I want to take my wifey to a wonderful candlelight dinner!
--------------------------------------------------------
Akash sat on the table, waiting for Manya to show up. Light of the candle flames sprung in the lightly dark room. Akash looked up as threw the flames he saw Manya approached. He stared, almost smiling in love, when she appeared wearing a cute black and red sari. She sat down in front of him.
M: Kya?
A: Tumhe patha hai tum kitni khoobsurat ho?
Manya smiled shyly.
A: Hanso muth, meri bhi tareef karo!
Manya rested her chin in her hand.
M: Haan..teek lag rahe ho...I guess...
A: WHAT?!?!
Manya giggled.
M: Fine, fine. Tum..achai lag rahe ho...for...you know, a father...
A: Father tho aise keh rahi ho jaisi burri baat hai!
Manya leaned over.
M: Soch lo, Akash. Burrai ho jao ge...
A: Cinderella, apne baby ko apne haathoon mein paker, tumhari khushi dekh ker, main sochoon ka jaise mujhe abhi ek nain zindagi mili!
Manya smiled and stared back at him. He put his hand ontop of hers when suddely a voice interrupted them.
Voice: Akash?
Akash and Manya turned and gasped. Roopa stood there, wearing a cute purple dress, smiling. Akash stood up and embraced her in a friendly hug.
A: Roopa! KAhan thi tum?
R: Kuch nain. Apne Dad ke saath...oh, hi Manya!
She bent down and gave Manya a hug. Her eyes suddenly fell to Manya's sindoor and manglsutra.
R: Yeh...
Akash grinned.
A: My lovely wife, Manya Rathod!
Roopa stared at them. Manya looked at Roopa's face and instantly realized that Roopa was in pain.
M: Roopa, woh..
A: That's nothing! Main tho..BAAP BANE VAALA HOON!! Isn't that great, yaar?!
All the color drained from Roopa's face. Manya glared at Akash to shut up. Roopa smiled weakly, her pain evident.
R: Oh..congrats, Akash..
Manya was about to talk when pain struck her stomach. She grabbed it and screamed, suddenly feeling darkness cover her eyes...
-------------------------------------------------------
Manya opened her eyes in the hospital, blinking. A doctor looked at her and smiled.
D: Good morning, Manya.
M: Uh..morning..Akash..kahan hai?
D: Mr. Rahod bahaar hain. Would you like for me to call him in?
M: Haan, woh...pehle aap batayein ge meri tabiyat kyun kharaab hogayee?
The doctor's smile faded.
D: Woh..uh..it's normal in pregnancy, Manya. Aap rukiye main aapke husband ko bulata hoon...
A file slipped out of his hands as he walked outside. Manya stood up, weakly, and picked it up. She opened it and stared in shock as she read the words under Condition: In this case, there are 90% chances that only the baby will survive for the mother is too weak...or she can get an abortion before due time.
Manya's heart sank tightly as she stared at the words in disbelief. Flashbacks of the baby's room swirled in her mind. Akash laughing...saying how he wanted to become a father...
Manya raised the curtain and looked out to Akash, who was standing with Roopa, laughing. Manya looked at Roopa laugh and playfully hit him as he pointed to a baby's picture...
Humsafar hum se ab
