Maybe our tv viewers are accustomed to see the protagonists from a hindu family with all the poojas, aartis, karwachauths etc. It is a cultural shock for them to see Aaliya from a muslim background and Julia from a christian background. Yes there was Heena which was lapped up by the audience. But after Heena, nothing on that scale with a muslim background. There was Left right Left also but it had ensemble cast from all religions as is the norm with our army.

And Sajda is actually a better one as it combined all the protagonists from different religions and a story relevant. The makers tried their best to make it attractive by getting goodlooking and capable actors and a fast paced story.

And this is quite bold one. The heroine is ready to drown in muddy waters to save the country from mafia and gangsters. The villain's mother is not a preachy mother but is very proud of her gangster son. And Ranveer has a junkie past but now reformed and wants to take on MP by resorting to all sorts of chanakya neeti.

Starplus in its quest to garner trps is backing all regressive shows which are generic and have nothing to offer except some lame love scenes between couples. Or some long standing boring shows which ought to get VRS.

No offence to anyone and I apologize if I hurt .

i agree and my mom kind of said the same thing...also the shabana track is unacceptable and should have been never been introduced...there are pages on FB bashing sajda due to it. they should have kept the shariah and the laws, out of the serial. some conservatives have taken offence - both hindu and muslim.
no offence to anyone.
will change the post if any one or sect is offended!!

I was going to make a topic about this too.

As per me, the show was a bit slow with reaching it's main plot. They wasted 4 months on getting Aaliya to commit, to teaching her how to handle MP, not to mention starting RanYa's lovestory. They should have shown Ranveer feeling attracted to Aaliya from the beginning instead of him seeing her as only a silly, selfish pawn. Indian audience are impatient, they want everything fast when the show starts and they don't mind if it slows down in the middle. Once you have their attention, they will stick to the show. Sajda, took it slow 'cause the makers knew that this show won't go on infinitely. As soon as Aaliya wins the mission, it has to end, so they began at a snails pace and brought in many side characters, to slow it down even more. And that's where they went wrong.

Khair, to tell you the truth, a part of me is happy that they won't show Aaliya having to choose between Ranveer's love and her mission. MP is a scary guy. I always thought that the guy won't hurt Aaliya even if he came to know that she's a spy 'cause she looks like Julia but he proved me wrong. He would have tortured her, her family, Ranveer's family and then probably even tried to kill her. So Thank God for that.

Now let's hope the Sajda team draw everything to a logical conclusion and we get a happy ever after for our RanYa.

Filmstars are big people and no one can take panga with them. In real life also mixed marriages happen and some are quite successful.
But tv audience have their own viewpoint. Heena worked because it was a social drama and at that time saas bahu sagas did not have a very strong presence as they do now.
Frankly I did not care for shabana story and it was quite unnecessary to the main plot. Instead they could have concentrated on the missing brother.

It was a show that required alil bit of intellect as the female lead said..and i also think that is why alot of people in india did not understand nor connect with the show.

two more reasons for failure
1)lack of promotion
2) no maha episodes
Star plus gave very step-motherly treatment to the show!
