All of Me

"Randhir," Sanyukta said, as they stepped on his doorstep. She was leaning on him, unable to walk straight. "I have something to tell you."

Randhir fumbled around for his key with his left hand, having a tough time because of Sanyukta's weight. "Hmmm," he said, finding his keys. Finally unlocking the door, he helped her inside, before locking it behind him.

"I need to tell you that... that... you are an MCP but I," she said, her head rolling on to his shoulders, "But I..."

"Come on Sanyukta," he said, dragging her across the living room. Realizing that this would take all night if he continued to drag her, he picked her up in his arms in one swift movement.

"Why are you carrying me you MCP!" she asked, furrowing her eyebrows and shaking her legs. "You MCP, you control freak, I hate you! I hated you in college too!"

His heart aching at her confession, he continued to walk to his bedroom. Upon reaching, he placed her on the bed gently and removed her heels from her feet. "Go to sleep," he ordered.

She grabbed his shirt and pulled her towards him, bringing his lips close to hers.

"I hate you... I can't believe there was one time I loved you," she whispered.

Randhir's heart leaped out of his chest at her confession. He had an inkling that she might have had feelings for him once, but he had never guessed that she would have ever accepted that she loved him.

"You... you loved me?" Randhir asked, feeling a burst of hope explode within his body.

"Yes, but not anymore you MCP!"

Sighing sadly, Randhir got up, but she grabbed his hand to stop him. "Sleep next to me. I need to tell you a bedtime story."

"A story? Sanyukta do I look like a child to you?"

Then suddenly Sanyukta's eyes started to fill with tears. "Nobody wants to listen to me? Nobody loves me. Why do I even try?"

"Come on, don't cry. Fine," he said, sighing resignedly, lying down next to her as she smiled widely at him.

Just seeing her smile filled his whole body with happiness. A smile reached his lips too. She held his hand softly.

"Okay, there was a girl - a Princess - whose name was Sanyukta Agarwal. She went to FITE."

Randhir started to chuckle. Of course, an intoxicated person wouldn't be able to come up with something more creative. "Mhm, go on," he encouraged.

"She hated this boy, Randhir Singh Shekhawat. He used to annoy her so much! He was an MCP. He hated girls, and Sanyukta hated him. They fought like Tom and Jerry."

Randhir smiled, recalling their old FITE memories.

"But one day they kissed with hate. Sanyukta didn't think of it until later on. Later on she realized she loved Randhir. She wanted to kiss him more. But that time Parth Kashyap came into the story."

"Is Parth the Prince?" Randhir asked, feeling his heart ache once again. This story was only a reminder that he was too late to confess his feelings to Sanyukta.

"Waaait Randhir, let me finish my story!" she said, yawning. She leaned into Randhir's chest, trying to cuddle with him. "Parth asked her to be his girlfriend, and Sanyukta agreed because she thought that her best friend would keep her the happiest. Soon Randhir told her he loved her, but Sanyukta had already given herself to Parth and she couldn't back off a commitment. Sanyukta fell for Parth slowly, and then... and then... he broke her heart."

A tear fell from Sanyukta's eye onto Randhir's shirt. Randhir stroked her hair affectionately. "Shh, it'll be okay," he whispered, pulling her body closer to him.

"But... you know one thing? Sanyukta never loved Parth the same way she loved Randhir. She respected Parth, gave everything to him, but only Randhir made her heart beat faster, only Randhir made her feel butterflies in her stomach, only Randhir touched her soul. Parth only touched her heart. Even though Sanyukta loved Parth, the Prince was never Parth. The Prince of the story was always Randhir. But he's an MCP again and he won't listen to Sanyukta's heart again and someone else will steal the Princess from him, again."

Then she snuggled up to him once more, and fell asleep instantly.

"The hero is still Randhir. I love you Randhir," she mumbled against his chest in her sleep, leaving Randhir shocked.

A part of him was happy that he was always in Sanyukta's heart, but the more powerful part of him was upset that she wasted so much time on Parth, when they could have been together this whole time and she would have never gotten hurt.

"I love you too Sanyukta," he whispered, kissing the top of her head and falling asleep effortlessly.

Everything I Do, I Do For You

The next morning when Randhir woke up, he felt beside him for Sanyukta, but he couldn't feel anything. His concern growing, he searched the whole house for her, finally spotting her in the kitchen, her head in her hands.

"Hungover?" he asked lightly.

Sanyukta nodded. Randhir filled a glass with water and put it in front of her before taking the seat next to her. She drank it all at once and then proceeded to hold her head again.

"Um... you might be wondering what you were doing in my bed this morning. Don't - don't think too much. We didn't do anything," Randhir explained to her nervously, wondering if she remembered last night at all.

"I know."

Randhir's heart leaped. That meant Sanyukta remembered? She must have remembered her confession too then.

"Do you... do you remember your story?" Randhir asked her.

She nodded. "Look Randhir," she said quickly, "I was drunk, I wasn't in my senses. Yes, I admit, I had feelings for you in FITE. But not anymore. I matured Randhir, and so have you. We're different people now."

This was the most she had spoken in days if he didn't count last night's story. Randhir felt his heart break at her words, but he nodded meekly. He loved Sanyukta and that was enough for him. Loving Sanyukta wasn't about gaining her, it was about giving her love. And he would continue to do that, even if it meant Sanyukta didn't love him back.

"Alright... do you remember what you said to Parth?" he asked her, wanting her to open up about her past.

"Yes, I just want to forget he exists. Please don't bring him up again. I embarrassed myself so much."

Randhir frowned. "Forget he exists? Why? Your past with him happened Sanyukta whether you like it or not."

"Why do you care Randhir?" she argued, picking up her bag and glaring at him, "It isn't like you were showing this concern over the last few days. I don't know what's with you. I can't deal with this right now Randhir. I'm going out. Make yourself food today, I'm done with this."

Randhir smiled as she left. This was the Sanyukta he knew. The one who fought with him, the one who stood up to him, the strong-headed girl he knew was coming back.

"Wait, Sanyukta," he called out after her, causing her to stop in her tracks. "You said you still love me last night."

"I don't remember."

"You said it while you were asleep," he informed.

"Yeah right. That's impossible. I don't love you. Randhir, I still love Parth and it'll take time for me to get over him," she snapped, before heading out of the door, leaving Randhir grinning more widely than he did in a while.

She had acknowledged that she was getting over Parth - this was a huge improvement because she didn't have hopes of getting back with him. She was also arguing with him. And more than that, her subconscious mind loved him, whether she was ready to admit it or not.

Randhir suddenly felt like a winner today.

Let Her Go

"Randhir, I'm leaving," Sanyukta said later that day, entering his bedroom. She was holding on to the sleeve of her shirt nervously.

Randhir closed the screen of the laptop that he had just been on and glanced at her. Maybe it was time to let her go.

"You aren't afraid of me telling your brother?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

She shook her head. "Do whatever you like Randhir. But I can't stay here with you anymore. There's no way."

Randhir nodded. "Alright then," he said, "Go ahead. I won't stop you."

Sanyukta stood there in front of him frozen for a moment, as if she was surprised by how easily he decided to let her go. When she was walking out of his room, she froze by the door momentarily and glanced back, before leaving his room completely.

She was already better, the purpose he had wanted her at his house for had been fulfilled. If she wanted to go, he wouldn't stop her now. She was moving on from Parth, her independence was back, and she could take care of herself. What more could he ask for?

But still, that night as he watched her leave his house with her belongings through the window, he couldn't help but feel his heart sink. He wanted to call her back, he wanted to ask her to stay with him, but he didn't. He didn't ask her to stay back.

He kept quiet again. And perhaps that was the reason that he almost lost Sanyukta. Again.

You Found Me

It was a small world. Randhir had been invited last minute to attend the wedding where his boss's son was the groom. His boss had sent him an invitation the day before the wedding, claiming that he needed someone from the office to go, and the person who was meant to be attending had backed off. Randhir didn't even look at the invitation until the wedding day, and when he saw who the bride was, his heart skipped a beat.

Dropping everything he was doing, he bolted towards the venue.

He entered the marriage hall, but through the window. He was testing his luck when he climbed into a window at random, but he figured that it was probably much easier than openly looking for the bride.

Randhir didn't know much about the groom, but he had already decided that if he wasn't a good fit for Sanyukta, he would do whatever was in his power to stop her from taking the wedding vows... even if it meant he lost his job.

Upon entering the room (and destiny seemed to favour him this time) through the balcony, his eyes landed on the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his life.
Sanyukta as a bride, dressed in red, with heavy jewelry adorning her body.

She was sitting down on her vanity, her head on the desk.

"Sanyukta," he whispered, causing her head to shoot up and look in the mirror, straight into his eyes.

Randhir noticed her eyes fill with tears as soon she saw him. She got up, picked up the skirt of her lengha and ran towards him.

"I don't want to marry him," she said quickly, holding his arm tightly. It was as if they hadn't stopped talking at all. "But this is the only way I would get mom and dad's forgiveness for being an engineer and for being with Parth."

Randhir didn't have to wonder why she was confiding in him, that too, after she hadn't seen him in two whole years, even after she considered him a jerk. He knew that deep down she was also aware of his feelings for her.

"Please Randhir," she whispered, a tear falling from her big kohl-lined eyes. "Save me from this. I want to run away, but at the same time I can't hurt my family."

"They want you to marry him because he's rich and his father owns an international business?" Randhir asked her, grabbing her arms.

She nodded.

"My family is rich, my mother is the owner of a huge group of companies - international too, and bigger than his father's, will you marry me Sanyukta? Will that make your parent's forgive you?"

His question was genuine, and he could see that the longing in her eyes was genuine as well. He was ready to forgive his mother for all the pain she had caused him during his life for Sanyukta's happiness.

He watched her get emotional and break down in front of him. She threw her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. Randhir rubbed her back gently and held her protectively against him.

"It will be okay," he said in a comforting tone. "Trust me."

"They won't ever forgive me for publicly humiliating them today though," she whispered, her breath lingering on his neck.

She pulled back slowly and looked Randhir in the eye. Placing one hand on her cheek, he used his other hand to wipe off the traces of mascara that had fallen down her face.

"Run away with me," Randhir told her quietly. "Your parent's will be upset with you for some time, but when they see that you found someone who matches their desires more, they will forgive you."

Sanyukta looked faithfully up at him before hugging him again. It was amazing how they had come to understand each other better with time - and that too, without saying a word to one another.

"Let's go," she muttered against his chest, her approval hitting his heart in the most fulfilling way.

Fools In Love

"Come on Sanyukta, you can do it!" he urged as she climbed down the pipe. "I'm here to catch you if you fall, don't worry."

It was difficult for her to do in her wedding lengha, which her bare feet kept getting stuck in, but she eventually managed to reach the ground by herself.

He held his hand out for her and she took it without hesitation. Randhir started to lead her around the building, towards his car, but she yelped in pain, causing him to stop in his tracks. He turned around to see that a tiny stick had gotten stuck in her foot, and as a result, it was bleeding. Bending down, he picked Sanyukta up in his arms, and walked the rest of the way to his car.

He carefully seated her in the passenger seat and bent down to take the stick out with his hand. She grabbed his shirt tightly and winced in pain.

"It'll be okay," he assured her softly, as he opened his dashboard to remove a handkerchief. He tied it on her foot carefully, while she looked at him with admiration.

When Randhir sat on the driver's side of the car and backed out of the venue, he heard Sanyukta sigh with relief.

"I was so worried they would catch us before we left," she told him as they were nearing his house.

"You don't trust me?" he asked her lightly.

"I trust you more than I trust myself," she admitted as he stopped at a red light.

He turned around to look at her, seeing the honesty in her eyes. The truthfulness of her words touched Randhir's heart.

"Why?" he asked, stepping on the gas pedal again as the light turned green.

"Because you had faith in me when I didn't even trust myself," she whispered, her eyes glossing over.

Randhir pulled into his driveway and turned off the engine before facing Sanyukta. He took her hand and held it tightly in his.

"How can you be so sure?" he replied, searching her eyes for any sort of hesitation.

"I didn't realize it before, but you are the reason I am the way I am now," she let out as the first tears started to fall from her eyes. "You're the person who picked up the broken pieces of my heart, without even complaining once that the pieces you picked up were stabbing at your own heart. You took all of my pain on your shoulders Randhir."

He used his thumb to wipe away her tears, his eyes still gazing into hers. When she cried, he felt his own heart become vulnerable - her tears were his weakness, and they had been for a very long time.

"I didn't do anything," he told her, meaning every word of it. "It was all you. You are the only reason that you're you. Nobody else. And Sanyukta, I didn't pick up the pieces of your heart. You picked them up, you held your head high and you fought until it healed. It was all you."

She held his hand to her face, leaning in to it and placing a soft kiss on his palm.

"In the last two years, there wasn't a day that passed by where I didn't wish I was with you," she confessed. "Everyday, whether I was awake or asleep, I would dream about being in your arms Randhir. I always... I always wanted you."

Randhir smiled, feeling his heart fill with joy. It was exactly the way he always felt. His happiness was always with her happiness, and seeing the happiness behind her tears today made him feel like the happiest man on Earth.

"I always knew that my marriage wouldn't end up happening to him because I had faith that he was not meant for me. I knew you would come Randhir, I just knew it... and you came," she whispered. "And you saved me."

"You saved yourself," he corrected her, pressing the palm of his hand to her mouth in order to stop her from giving him credit. "Sanyukta, it was always you. I was only there for you as support, but you were always the one who saved yourself."

Sanyukta smiled at him and in her eyes, he could see all the love that she contained in her heart.

"All of the times you were mean to me, it was just a mask Randhir... I always knew it was, but I doubted myself. After Parth, it was hard for me to trust my heart," she told him sincerely, "But I finally listened to my soul Randhir, and it told me everything I had to know. It told me that you loved me this whole time. It told me that you only wanted the best for me. It also told me that there was no Sanyukta without Randhir."

"And there is no Randhir without Sanyukta," he concluded for her with a smile.

"I knew that too Randhir. But... I always thought that I wasted so much of your time, that I was not worthy of your love... so I didn't try to find you after," she admitted, looking down, sounding guilty.

"Sanyukta, there is nobody on this planet more worthy of my love," he said in a serious tone, placing a hand on her shoulder gently.

"Then why didn't you find me Randhir?" she asked him softly.

"Because I didn't want to influence you in any way. I knew that you loved me Sanyukta, but I didn't want to start anything prematurely. I wasn't sure whether you were ready for it," he said sadly. "I didn't want to place this burden on your heart."

"You idiot!" Sanyukta scolded, hitting his shoulder. "You wasted so much of our time! But then again... so did I."

Then she started to giggle and he knew that she felt like a total idiot herself, just like he did right now. Randhir just admired her. It had been so long since he saw her this happy.

"We're probably the biggest fools ever," he told her lightly. "When we got the chance in college, we were too stuck in ego. Then when we got the chance years later, we were stuck in a combination of fear and insecurity."

"But now, now we're only stuck in love... and this time, it won't leave, ever... and even if we want to leave it, it won't leave us," Sanyukta finished for him, smiling.

"I love you Sanyukta," he admitted softly - this time, the time was just right... or perhaps his state of mind was.

He knew that they had spent so much time apart when they could have been together, but if Randhir was completely honest with himself, the time spent apart did not matter to him. His love for her was always there, as strong as ever, and time never came in between him and the love he felt for her. Now that he was able to spend the rest of his life with her though, he knew that he wouldn't ever give her a reason to leave him, because she was happiest when she was with him, and his happiness had nested comfortably somewhere within hers.

"I love you too Randhir," she replied with passion.

Sanyukta removed her seatbelt and threw her arms around his neck, comfortably resting her head on his shoulder. Randhir wrapped his arms around her body and closed his eyes, allowing himself to drown in the moment.

Love is all You Need

"Give me your phone," Randhir told her, holding his hand out.

Without asking him anything, she placed her phone in his hand. He opened her phone and removed the battery.

"They won't be able to reach you now," he explained, sliding the back on the phone again.

Sanyukta smiled at him. They were sitting on his couch, Sanyukta still in her bridal wear. The dupatta of her lengha had fallen from her hair and rested on her shoulders. Randhir lightly brushed the skin of her shoulder as he adjusted it, letting it fall on one shoulder.

She looked at him, desire evident on her face. "I'm so lucky to have you Randhir," she whispered, cupping his cheeks with her hands.

"No," he replied, removing one hand from his cheek and squeezing it tightly. "Why are you separating yourself from me Sanyukta? There's no you or me in this relationship, there's only us."

Bringing her hand to his lips, he kissed it lightly. Sanyukta let the hand that was still on his face drop to his shoulder. She moved closer to him, bringing her other hand up to his shoulder. Randhir could feel his breathing quicken as she approached.

He had wanted this for years and when it was finally coming, he didn't know how to react. He closed his eyes, his heart beating as fast as it had when Sanyukta told him she loved him. He could feel her shaking nervously as she brought her soft lips to his.

The kiss was short, but it told a story to him. It told him that Princess Sanyukta had reunited with her Prince and she was not willing to let him go at any cost.

He kissed her forehead and let her relax her head on his shoulder.

"They probably know I ran away by now," Sanyukta whispered.

"Don't think about them. We're in a different world," he consoled her, stroking her hair.

She removed her head from his shoulder and looked him in the eyes, her eyes holding only trust and admiration for him... the same could be reflected in his own eyes.

He lowered his lips to hers once again. She pulled back, her eyes filled with tears, as if she could not believe that all of this was happening right now.

"I wanted to kiss you for a long time," she confessed.

Randhir chuckled, stroking her cheek with his thumb. "I know... you told me you wanted to kiss me more that night."

He was referring to the night that Sanyukta had fallen asleep in his arms, drunk.

He watched her blush and look away, but Randhir turned her face around again.

"Oh come on Sanyukta," he teased, "It isn't anything new. Girls would die to kiss me."

He watched as her mouth dropped open with annoyance. "Fine! You can kiss them then since you seem to think about them," she told him, shifting her body away from his on the couch.

He moved right beside her and wrapped his arm around her, a big smile on his face. He dropped his lips to her ear, his nose nuzzling her hair. "I would die to kiss one girl and one girl only though," he whispered into her ear.

He could feel her body tense up. He loved having this effect on her.

She turned her face slowly, her parted lips only an inch away from his. He closed the gap between their lips and pushed her back on the couch. Her arms circled his neck immediately, her lips responding to his with equal enthusiasm.

Once they pulled apart to breathe, he held her tightly against him, inhaling her scent, in another world completely.

He had his life in his arms tonight, and he wouldn't let it go at any cost. He loved his life's happiness too much to let it die again.

Bonds of Love

Renuka Sanyal was standing outside Agarwal Mansion with her son Randhir and his love Sanyukta. Sanyukta was holding Randhir's hand tightly, her fingers laced between his, her heart racing. It wasn't only her heart that was racing, Randhir's was too, for Randhir was just as nervous as she was.

He squeezed her hand with comfort, remembering how he had appproached Renuka Sanyal.

--

"Mom, I'm ready to forgive you," he had told her, "But... I need one favour from you."

He knew what he was doing wasn't right. He was emotionally blackmailing his mother, but he had to do it for his love, he had to do it for Sanyuka's happiness. He promised himself that he would start life afresh with his mother and would hold no grudge for the past if she promised to support him.

"I'll do anything son," she whispered, and Randhir saw tears fall from her eyes.

He felt his own eyes sting with tears.

"I love her mom," he said to her, falling to his knees, and pressing the palms of his hands together. "I love her more than anything in this world. Please ask for her hand."

She fell to her own knees, held his shoulders before nodding and pulling him in a bone crushing hug.

"I'll do anything for your happiness," she told him, stroking the back of his head.

Randhir hugged her back, finally opening up to his mother, finally allowing her access to him.

The purest form of love was the one where you only wished for the other one to be happy - there was no selfishness. Just like Renuka Sanyal loved Randhir. And just like Randhir loved Sanyukta.

--

The door opened and Sanyukta's mother stood there. Upon seeing Sanyukta, who was holding Randhir's hand, wearing new clothes she had bought the day after she had run away (two weeks back), her eyes widened.

"You have no idea how much you shamed this family," her mother yelled, grabbing her arm and pulling her in.

"Mom... please, let me explain," she whispered, tears falling from her eyes.

Randhir wanted to say something, but Renuka grabbed his hand, silently telling him that Sanyukta needed to hear all of this from her mother.

She looked at Randhir and Renuka and folded her hands together in front of them. "Thank you for finding her and bringing her home. I know she is a shameless, disgusting creature, but please forgive us... it was our upbringing," she said to them.

Randhir felt his heart break when her mother said those words.

"She isn't," he said, just as her mother was about to go inside.

She stopped in her tracks and turned around. "What?"

"She is absolutely beautiful," Randhir told her mother, "She regrets what she had done. She loves you truly."

Sanyukta pulled her arm away from her mom and rushed towards Randhir.

"Mom listen, I'm sorry! I know what I did was wrong... but I realized last minute and I couldn't let my life go down the drain. Mom... this is Randhir. Randhir Singh Shekhawat, Renuka Sanyal's son! You know Renuka, she owns a large chain of international companies!" Sanyukta said quickly, hoping that her mom would understand.

Sanyukta's mom's mouth opened when she heard Renuka's name.

"This is even worse," she said, embarrassed. "I'm so sorry you had the misfortune to meet my daughter."

"I like her," Renuka said with a smile towards Sanyukta's mom. "I actually wanted to speak to you about something if you have a moment. It would be ideal if your husband was here too."

"Yes... yes one minute," Anju, Sanyukta's mom, said.

She went inside and called Sanyukta's dad to the living room. The trio followed her.

"Sit... please sit," Anju said.

Randhir and Renuka took a seat while Sanyukta stayed standing.

As soon as her father and brother entered, they both ran towards her immediately. Gulping, she took a step back as her father raised his hand, about to slap her.

"We don't know you anymore!" he bellowed after giving her a tight slap, "We don't have a daughter! You brought shame to this house and only shame! From engineering to Parth to running away from your marriage, you are a disgrace!"

"Papa, please," she whispered, her tears escaping her eyes.

"This is Renuka Sanyal," Anju intervened, addressing her guests. "And this is her son Randhir."

Her father showed shock, her brother's mouth dropping open, clearly awestruck by who had come and visit them.

"Sorry Mrs. Sanyal," Sanyukta's father replied, clearly ashamed of what was going on. "I'm sorry you had to see everything that has happened here. We are very embarrassed to call this girl our daughter."

"Well Mr. Agarwal," Renuka said curtly, "You don't need to apologize. She is a blessing for me. I wanted to ask for her hand for my son Randhir."

Her father's jaw dropped open for the second shock of the day.

"Are you sure?" he asked her, trying to bring himself back to reality. "I mean... you know her history. She might just taint your name too."

Renuka sighed and leaned forward.

"Listen Mr. Agarwal," she told him, "I've gotten to know her well over a short period of time - when she has a passion, she will follow it with all her heart, and that's the most positive trait someone can have. And more importantly, she will keep my son happy... and he will treat her like a queen. I don't think you want anything else from your daughter, do you?"

"What if she runs away from her wedding again?" Anju said, clearly showing no sympathy for her daughter anymore.

"We'll take the chance," Renuka said with a nod.

"Okay then..." Sanyukta's father said, sounding stunned by what was happening. "We won't say no. If someone on the streets asked for her hand we wouldn't say no now, because she deserves only that, but you are Mrs. Renuka Sanyal, so we are in no position to deny."

Randhir felt his heart break as Sanyukta's father insulted her. He glanced at his mother, who seemed to understand him immediately.

"One more thing, Mr. Agarwal," Renuka said immediately. "I want you to forgive your daughter. I only want positive vibes from this alliance. If I hear that you haven't forgiven her, then I won't be happy."

"Yes, of course we will on your insistence," Sanyukta's dad replied quickly, "I mean... for you, anything Mrs. Sanyal."

Randhir could see Sanyukta's eyes light up when her father said that and he felt a huge weight being lifted off his heart immediately.

"So you can have your daughter back until the wedding," Renuka said sweetly. "We will meet with the pandit tomorrow for the marriage preparations."

Sanyukta's parent's looked at Renuka, awe-struck by what was happening, never expecting any of it.

Randhir noticed Renuka smile at Sanyukta warmly and he knew that it wasn't only him who would be getting his mother's love this time, Sanyukta would receive it equally.

He Was Her Man (The epilogue)

"Randhir... Randhir," Sanyukta whispered, coming out of the bathroom, the pregnancy test in her shaking hands.

Randhir got up from their bed and held her shoulders. He didn't have to ask her to know that it was positive. Seeing her nod, he smiled widely and picked her up, twirling her around before setting her down.

"You're a mother!" he expressed happily.

She hugged him tightly and he wrapped his arms around her too, rubbing her back gently.

"I can't believe this Randhir," she said, "It feels so different. I'm carrying a baby... our baby."

She removed her head from his chest, stood up on her tiptoes and kissed him on the lips. "I love you so much Randhir."

He swooped down and picked her up in his arms in one single movement.

"What are you doing?" she asked, giggling.

"I'm not even going to let you walk now... not for the rest of your pregnancy!" he told her.

"Randhiiir," she said giggling, "Put me down!"

He sat on the bed and placed her on his lap.

"You're going to get heavy Sanyukta, let me carry you while I can," he told her with a wink.

She hit his chest hard. "You're so mean Randhir! Here you're going to be a father and you're more worried about how heavy I'll be!"

Randhir held her against him more tightly.

"Sanyuktaaa," he whined, "Why do you hit me?"

He placed his hand on her belly and smiled at her, unable to express enough happiness for having both his wife and soon to be child with him today.

"Because I have the right to do whatever I please with you," she told him with a smile. "I own you."

"Oh really?" he asked, smirking naughtily.

"Shut up Randhir! You only think of one thing without shame."

"You're right... only you baby," he told her, laughing.

She hit his chest playfully again.

"Who're you calling baby?"

"That's for you to figure out," he said with a wink, stroking her belly gently.

He brought his hand up to her cheek and kissed her lips. She reciprocated more than enthusiastically.

"I love you Randhir," she said against his lips. "I wish you knew how much."

He pulled away from her and looked into her eyes.

"I know how much Sanyukta. I love you just as much," he replied, kissing her on the cheek.

"I know," she whispered. "You loved me when I didn't even realize how important it was for me to have you in my life."

He kissed her nose and she leaned closer to him.

He was so happy to have her in his arms. Every morning when they would wake up together, he would feel blessed to have another day with Sanyukta. He would silently convey a thank you to the universe that she was happy with him, that he could see her smile and hear her laughter every day. When they fought, he would inwardly smile, because he would get to see her fighting spirit, her best quality, and she would smile with him. Their fights didn't last long because they had already experienced what being far from each other had done to them.

Now they were starting their own family together and Randhir couldn't imagine his life being in a more blissful state - he was grateful for everything he had.

"So we'll have a son," Sanyukta finally said, smiling into Randhir's neck.

"Then I'll have to compete with him for your attention," Randhir replied with a smile. "And I'll have to remind you of how happy you were when I was your man."

She slapped his chest playfully again.

"You'll have to remind your son that you are my man," she said, giggling. "And he is my little boy."

"Our little boy," he corrected. "Don't be so excited to turn me into a stranger. I'm not going anywhere."

"Oh yeah?" she asked, raising her eyebrows and pushing him on the bed, her body falling on top of him. "Sorry Mr. Randhir Singh Shekhawat, I do not know you."

He held her tightly against him and smiled as she leaned down to kiss him.

"Mrs. Sanyukta Randhir Singh Shekhawat, you're crossing your limits now... you have a husband remember?" he asked her as she pressed her lips on his.

"You see Randhir Singh Shekhawat, I love my husband a lot," she whispered into his mouth.

"Oh yeah? I love my wife too," he said haughtily. "She's having my baby."

"Strange... I'm having my husband's baby too."

Then they both started to giggle.

Life was beautiful, it truly was - dark times turned into bright ones, hard times just increased the intensity of their love, and all the regrets for wasting time turned into excitement for the times to come. Randhir and Sanyukta were enjoying life and their love to the fullest.

The feeling of having the one he loved more than anything else in the world in his arms, was a feeling that would stay with him for the rest of eternity.

"You were, are, and will always be my one and only," Sanyukta whispered to him, before she closed her eyes and relaxed on top of him. "Our son is going to be proof of that."

"I love both of you so much," he responded, kissing the top of her head, and closing his eyes too, allowing himself to experience holding Sanyukta in his arms again.

Bliss was defined for him the day he fell in love with Sanyukta, and the day he became her man, his happiness had no bounds, life as he saw it was different, because he was the man he always wanted her to have - the man that Sanyukta needed in her life, the one whose characteristics complemented each and every personality trait of hers, the one that would keep her smiling through tough times and good ones.

He was her man. She was his lady. And they both functioned as one unit, together, for the rest of their lives.

Final words

It's hard to let go of something you wrote with so much love and care. Thank you all so much for supporting me through this journey, for appreciating my work, for writing comments, for liking and thank you to the silent readers who have never made their presence known... you're all amazing. When I Was Your Man may be over, but I'll never forget writing that first chapter... all the way through to the last. This is very dear to my heart.

If you want to read more from me, I have two stories right now that are currently in progress:

Here's a link to my creative gallery on SanDhir, where I have posted VMs and one-shots for your viewing and reading pleasure as well: Saffi's SanDhir Gallery (Click).

Once again, thank you so much. This wouldn't have been possible without all of you, who have supported me, encouraged me, motivated me, and helped me throughout this journey. I love all of you. You are ALL amazing!
