I wouldn't blame India as a whole because of some people.
In fact, there are loads of people around the world with similar thinking. India is actually modernising fast.

I agree but some people just won't let go of this parani sooch.

Lol, if one can marry their sister's FIL, they might as well marry their cousin. If they can justify that marriage, then any incestuous marriage can be justified. It makes NO difference.

Anyway, I rest my case. Goodbye.

how is it incest? They are not blood related. You need to look up the definition of incest. If Meera had married shraven brother you wouldn't have so much of a problem with it would you?

I think he is still married to his wife that kind of showed in today's episode.. Meera's marriage is void actually if he is still married to that woman...ufff
I dont have problem with the age gap, but just that the relationship they shared is kind of weird that's just my view..

I agree even I'm uncomfortable if they are not divorced. It was made clear today they had been separated for 10 years.

He is a father figure to her, and for me that's incest.

As for marrying Shravan's brother, that is totally different. How can someone even compare marrying a FIL type figure to marrying the brother of your sister's husband? That happens all over the world, even in America and other western countries. Just because you want to support Dheera doesn't mean you start attacking completely normal relationships.

When two sisters marry two brothers, it doesn't change relationships among the family. MIL and FIL are the same for both sisters, whereas if a sister marries her sister's FIL, then she becomes the sister's MIL. How is that so hard to understand?

Forget marrying sister's BIL. When a sister is dead, another sister may marry her dead sister's husband to take care of the sister's kids, and that's normal too, but marrying the sister's FIL is a whole other story.

OMG, this just made me laugh out loud. So marrying a sister's FIL is modernization? 🤣 And anyone who doesn't support this has poorani soch? Oh God, that's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Trying telling this to western people, that people in India marry their sister's FIL. India would get a worse reputation than it already has. 🤪

well you have your of definition of incest then. because technically they are not related. Only through marriage. They didn't even know each other until 3 weeks ago.

incest
insest/
noun
  1. sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other.

No where does the dictionary say one has to share blood with a relative to be incestuous. Even relationships through marriage count.

To be completely honest, I do agree with you on a lot of things. Marrying your sister's FIL, super duper hard to digest and not something I would advocate although I would not call it incest.

But, that said, Saathiya and normal hindi tv shows have shown wayyy more questionable things in the past. Things that I used to question a lot but have now become so immune to them that I hardly try to find logic in dramas now. It's good or bad, I have no idea but I have really stopped caring now. If the drama entertains me, I am cool with it and this marrying your sister's FIL is super entertaining😆.

Achaa, vaise, I have a random question. What if Meera met Dharam and they fell in love, Vidya met Shravan and they fell in love? Then what? None of them was aware of the other relationship.

P.S. Can we not start attacking Indians and India? Hurts my patriotic heart.
Agreed, we are pretty f**ked up people but we are trying to improve😆

THANK you for your sensible post. Finally someone who acknowledges that Dheera is a twisted couple, even though they may find them entertaining. See, I don't mind opinions that digress from mine as long as people accept that some things are just universally wrong, like marrying a sister's FIL. And yeah, I agree that SNS has showed way worse things too in the post.

Hmm, as for your question, it's a complicated one, but in the end, one couple has to choose to sacrifice their life (in my honest opinion), because if both couples got married, the dynamics would change and family life would be very awkward. Because in India, marriages are between two families, not just two people, so the decision to marry someone affects the entire family, either positively or negatively. People don't have to agree with my answer, but this is how I feel.

P.S. I totally agree with you! URGH! I don't get why any argument has to end with India being attacked. This happens all over IF and it's so sad, makes me feel like Indians are one of the least patriotic people on this planet! Even western people have bitter arguments over television shows. Has anyone ever visited western television forums? The people there can be just as rabid as us. 😆 Westerners have opinions too, and not all of them find everything shown in television acceptable. Yet they don't start bashing their nation over a difference in opinion.

Personally, I feel humanity is messed up, not Indians, westerners, Chinese, or any one race. The entire planet is messed up and that's a fact. No one race is better or worse than another.
