Meera watched Dharam as he tossed and turned in his sleep. She stroked his forehead gently until he settled. Then she lay down trying to sleep but couldn't. She couldn't stand seeing him so sad. Her mind flashed back to the time he had whipped himself rather than punish her. He had told her if he ever saw her in pain it would hurt him more. Meera was stupid and naive and didn't understand the significance of his words but now she understood completely. Her heart felt heavy and broken for him. He had always loved and protected her unconditionally. Now it was her chance to do the same for him. With these thoughts whirring around in her head she cuddled up to him and eventually fell asleep.
She was surprised to wake up to Dharam bringing breakfast to her. "Good morning cootie pie, I've brought you an angrezee breakfast just as you like it". He bent down and placed the tray on her lap. "And guess what, I cooked it myself". He proudly sat down beside her. Meera sat up and looked the the food...toast burnt to a crisp, an omelette that was runny and a glass of coffee awaited her. "Thank you Dharamji" Meera smiled. "How sweet". She forced herself to eat the disgusting breakfast as Dharam eagerly watched her. "So how about I take you somewhere today?" he asked her eagerly. I thought we could watch a film and have lunch. Meera hugged him tenderly. Although he was trying to be happy she could see the sadness in his eyes. "I love you" Meera whispered in his ear. "But today I have other plans". "Really" Dharam asked her? "What"? Don't worry she replied. "We could go tonight if you like but in the meanwhile there is someone I need to speak to. Why don't you go to work and I will be ready for you when you get back". "Ok" Dharam replied and took the tray from her. "Don't forget your coffee" he handed her the mug. Meera took a sip and nearly spluttered out the drink. "Are you ok"? Dharam asked. Meera smiled "sorry I had something in my throat"..."oh for a minute there I thought it was my coffee". "No of course not". Meera smiled sweetly. "It's delicious". "Ok it's a deal then" Dharam replied. "I will bring you breakfast every morning". "Oh god please don't" Meera stammered. "I tell you what. I will feed you your favourite breakfast with my own hands tomorrow". Dharam smiled "ok, it's a deal". He hugged Meera tenderly. I don't want to leave you and go to work though. But I will. I have to work hard to keep you in the luxury you deserve". With that he gave Meera a tender kiss and left for work.
Meera got ready and went downstairs to see Shravan sitting alone at the breakfast table. "Where's Vidya?" She barked at him. Shravan didn't look up. "Where's Vidya?" She repeated. Shravan didn't acknowledge Meeras presence.
Meera banged her fist down on the table. "Ehhh when I'm talking you don't ignore me, no one ignores Meera Suryavanshi, understand. She clicked her fingers three times and pointed at him. "You better understand". "Are you crazy"? Shravan asked her. He kept up from his chair. Meeras voice became low and menacing. "I don't like the way you spoke to your father last night, who the hell do you think you are?" Shravan felt the rage burning inside him. "Just because you managed to entrap Mr Dharam Suryavanshi, don't think you are anything in this house" he yelled. "Who the hell do YOU think you are"? Meera screamed back. If it wasn't for your dad you would have been lying in a street somewhere with your beloved psycho mother as a begger. He didn't have to marry your mother, he did it to give you a good life. It's not his fault he was never attracted to Durga...but still he loved you like you were his real son. Everything that happened isn't his fault. If you don't like it, pack your suitcases and get out. It's Mr Dharam Suryavanshi who has paid for your education, it's Mr Dharam Suryavanshi who has given you a good job, who pays for the roof over your head. It is Dharam Suryavanshi who has paid for your designer clothes and your flashy car. When you go leave the car keys and also the keys to this house ok". Let's see if you can support my sister and your child without Mr Dharam Suryavanshis help. Go upstairs and pack now" Meera roared. Shravan stormed upstairs went to his room and slammed the door shut. He sat on his bed. How many times had he threatend to leave? He never did. He knew he wouldn't be able to survive without his fathers help. He had grown accustomed to this rich lifestyle and wasn't going to give it up for anyone. Especially now he was going to be a father. His child should have the amazing upbringing he had. No. He was going have to play Meera and Dharam at their own game.
