The episode that got me was when Kokila was knocking on the door, soon after Gohem got married, Aham woke up and then he pretended to be asleep on the bed for Gopi to open the door and speak to Kokila, Kokila then instructed Gopi, in this house we wake up at 5am you go and take the milk from doodhwalla at 5am, Gopi said I'm ready maji already and followed Kokila from the room but first she looked at Aham, and he was on the bed still eyes closed, I'm sure he heard the mother but he didn't open his eyes, that's when I knew something different here, he doesn't say no to his mother, then the more I watched the show the more I was intrigued to keep watching the triangle of Kokila controlling them and also Rashi on the side trying to destroy Gopi's marriage but being goody goody to Gopi, never once did Gopi ever believe Rashi was against her, Urmila and Rashi and they plans to get Gopi discredited, it was a good concept and the cuteness of Gopi and handsomeness of Aham made us all enjoy.

I wouldn't have minded at all had the actress that plays Hetal went to dance in jdj and they replaced her, she is not the lead actor or actress. But Koki yes I would have been upset too.

I watched Saathiya from a couple of episodes in. I started watching more so from when Kokila came to RN to see Rashi as a prospect. I could not believe her. And then she chose Gopi over Rashi and the rest is history.

My grandmother actually got me hooked to Saathiya. She loves every single drama on Indian television, without exaggeration, and watches everything at least twice on repeat telecasts. When I'm in India on holidays I don't have a choice in TV shows... it's my granny's way or the highway 😛 I started watching in December 2010 when the kalakaris were at their peak. I actually found them very amusing initially but I think it was Koki's "meri Gopi vau" and the way she always stood up for her daughter-in-law that made me love it. I think it's very unusual for mother-in-laws to genuinely love their daughter-in-laws so much. Of course, Gopi's simplicity and devotion had a lot to do with it too but it was endearing to watch regardless.

But, as is the case with all Saathiya fans, I've also had my share of frustrations. I stopped watching it when Urmila became unbearable but kept coming back to it anyway because despite the kalakaris it's an extremely addicting show! Also, it reminds me of home when I'm in Australia (which is basically all year, except 2 weeks in December). I like Saathiya for the values it portrays... it's easy to criticise and say that Indian women are being portrayed as cowards and doormats. Well, that's one way of looking at it. I actually admire Gopi sometimes for her resilience and unmoving faith in her Kanhaji. I hate how she cries at the drop of a hat but for an orphaned girl who's so sheltered, hasn't ever been to school or seen the world and lived like a maid all her life, she's done pretty well for herself.

In the end it only boils down to one thing: you either love Saathiya or hate it. There seems to be no in-between.

I started watching for Rupal. She plays the Kokila role so awesomely well. She still does. Except the character now irritates me more often than not.

The Gopi character I hated. The crying scenes were the worst. You just wanted to slap her and get her to stop sniveling. But I had high hopes that eventually she would be given a back-bone and stand up to Koki, Aham and UrShi. Sadly she never did. So now the character totally irritates me. Useless waste of space tbh.

Now I hate the show. None of the characters were allowed to develop or grow. SNS has become a case of wash, rinse and repeat of kalakaris. The story never really moved forward and the actors are used as wall-flowers.

It really should have ended within 6 months of it starting cos really there is no story. But I have no clue on other Indian serials so maybe it's perfectly normal in Indian television for a show to be pointless 😆.

Now I just want it to end so that everyone can be spared more misery 🤣

I started watching for Rucha, I liked the fact that Rashi was such a grey character who seemingly had it all, a mother who loved her, a husband who wanted her love, a good MIL, yet she envied the happiness of someone who was unloved - Gopi. She is a very intriguing character to me and it's been Rucha's acting that has kept me hooked to the show. The CVs could have done a lot more with this character, but once again they failed.

I watched the ones prior to the education track, but it was the education track that got me hooked on the show.
