Anna? This is a topic/question that has and will haunt womankind for quite some time to come. Man has decided since before the scriptures that he has the upper hand and the freedom to make rules and dictate what is right and what is wrong. In his wisdom, he decreed that the female is lower in status to him, but is the one to carry the family honour. The son puts a foot wrong, eyebrows are raised. The daughter does something wrong and the world ends. The cry goes up that she has shamed the family and should pay, is punished or even put to death.

Whilst man has created these double standards there is the group that is very much guilty of keeping the tradition alive. Woman. Look to the elder women of society. How many of them have seen injustices against their kind and how many have even become the perpetrators or stayed silent to keep the peace? They will gossip and speak ill of any woman who wants to break the mould. Yet these are the very women who were young once and had dreams. I could go on foraever about this.

I do not know about the Hindu scriptures but the bible states that Eve was created from Adam's rib. Not from his head so that she can be above him and not from his foot so that she is beneath him (in status) but from his side as his equal. The Quran says that man and woman are created to compliment each other, not to rule oveeat he other. In both cases tradition and culture have fused with religion and this is used as a tool to keep women 'in line.'

Dear Anna I am afraid that I have deviated from the question you have put but there are certain aspects in my answer that are relevant.

Xari your answer is relevant, Giaa was just an example, to highlight that GENDER BIAS is very relevant.

Society along with religion has always made women the inferior being.

To top it we women are our own enemy. How many times to we stand up for our fellow sisters?

Thanks for your insight dear Xari.

Great topic Anna. Well, India is a country, where , women are treated like a second grade citizens. women are weaker sex. A woman will become, another woman's worst enemy. Ppl. will be very ready, to give advise to women, even in how to walk, how to talk, how to dress. Women will be degraded in all stages of their life. simply, In india, a woman's job is to fulfill the desires of man kind. Women, they themselves, think, that they are inferior to men. In every walk of our life, ppl. will be reminding us, that we [women] are below than a man. In gia's case, The PH and SP did a great injustice. When, they talked about Gopi's image, [ gia's outfit in JDJ], they didn't care about, Nazim half nude picture. Well, men can do anything!!! while women have to keep up the pride of our country and culture!!😕In everyday life, we are facing this, double standards.

Thank you Anna. Society is one thing but the matriarchs are responsible of upholding all traditions. Even the wrong and biased ones.

Women are tortured because we do not fight back. The day we learn to fight back, the world will be a better place to live in.

The change has to start somewhere, sometime. Why not now, with our daughters?

I agree with Anna... That gender basis always happen where woman are underestimated...
But not in telly industry... As the leading actresses are given much pay and more work and will be more popular than male leads...

As in barun case he has accommodated the timing for both the movie and ipkknd ... And the producers and channel has changed the track and script was well built and has hooked the audiences to the show.

Nazim case...

He was given one or two dialogues in each episode and the usp of the show was gia, rupal and rucha even if nazim missed in the episode it would have not made much difference...

About his movie, he has to earn soon lol... And the ph will be knowing he was not offered any other show.. At rival channel...

Rashmi sharma runs three shows in different channel and at different time... So it won't affect the rival channels...

Gia manek... Rashmi will be forced by channel to stop gia from doing rival channel show... As it may greatly affect the trps of the shows which airs at Saturday and Sunday when jdj airs...

May be sp had other plans for gia manek... To make her stick to gopi bahu image and to a new show in starplus... As they wanted sns to run for 8 to 10 years...

But the statement if gia manek does a reality show her image as gopi bahu will be affected is ridiculous ...
Breach of contract is not true..if it was true gia would have not told in public that there was no breaking of any clause in contract..

Do u remember bodyguard movie was offered to gia... But gia refused to do a movie as it was affecting saathiya episode bank... She left such a big ticket to bollywood...

Channel may ask anything from ph but rs did not stand for her actors... And immediately agreed to axe her from show...
Now u can see sp is asking show trps to be high or else they will pull show off air...

I think its a injustice towards working woman rashmi sharma who agreed to each and evry words of sp but kya mila warning...

Gia manek might be the victim at first but her carrer has reached a high peak by doing jdj...but now i feel rashmi sharma is victim...

Hmm interesting .. but in my family.,. i am give the most preference.. i feel bad for my younger brother.😛 he will be given the least preference when compared to me... as my parents think that being a girl, being precious they do give importance to me right from my childhood..

being a girl, i had and am still having the added advantages and privileges.. not only from my parents but also my younger brother. whogives me preference to choose or decide before he does.
so i did not face this for which i should thank god and even @ work or @school i never faced the discrimination. or rather i faced it in a better way.. 😃 they preferences of being a girl were always special 😳

haven't dealt with it on first hand basis..

but yes in India women are women's enemies... on one hand we praise one woman to sky and on the other hand we curse and abuse the other woman like a dirt (daughter and daughter in law theory)

still girl child foeticide is on a larger scale and the girls deprived of education ,,, and girls being sent to regional language government schools and boys sent to private English medium schools is quite common.. the society is biased...

and as for what SP/PH did .. i still do not think it to be gender biased.. if nazim participated in JDJ and if he was sacked.. there would never be a question of gender biased.. since it is the female lead who is replaced.. everyone thinks with a single point agenda of "ohhh this is gender biased " all other points and all other agendas and speculations will be moot points, since the actor in question is female.. and we know females always garner more sympathy than males ..in the predominately male dominant society...

If a girl files a false complaint saying my husband and MIL are torturing me... the police will never try to find the truth .. they immediately arrest the MIL and husband on the charges of domestic violence.. they will never look into the truth or hear a word from the guy .. how much ever kind the husband and MIL are .. since it has been coming over ages that men abuse women and the law is to punish those.. and some women are taking the law to their own advantage and punishing the innocent in-laws and husband.. there are many such false cases filed by some opportunist girls...

According to indian law there is no protection to men..
what i say is ...

not all men are bad and not all women are good..
and you are not good or bad based on your gender...

ok i dont know how these contracts work and i am not anti Gia either...just have a basic question..
are all actors in a show bound by the same contract...i mean Gia was the main protagonist in the show..she was the face of the show..not Nazim, not even Rupal..maybe Rucha to some extent..but the fact is the show revolved around Gia...in fact there are many episodes where we dont see Ahem or Jigar but i dont remember a single episode where i didnt see Gopi...in fact in most of the shows female protagonists have a better role than their male counterparts...so are the other actors like Nazim or Rupal bound by the same level of restrictions as say Gia and maybe Rucha?...
just to reiterate, this is just a basic question which could be applied to any show and has got nothing to do with any particular actor..
