We wondered earlier if for Giaa Manek participating in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 is worth losing Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. It seems Giaa's loss is now not going to stop at Saathiya. If the producers of that soap have their way, the pretty actor will not be able to work again in the television industry.
From what we hear, Giaa had a contract with the production house – note that after all that brouhaha, Star Plus is not the aggrieved party here. According to the contract, she was not allowed to star in any other television show while she was a part of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya.
Since she signed Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, she allegedly broke the terms of the contract. The production house has now appro-ached the Cine and Television Artist Association (CINTAA), calling Giaa's behavior 'unprofessional'. There is a good chance that CINTAA will cancel her membership. If that happens, then other members of the CINTAA will not work with her. Giaa could lose the career she has been building for two years.
Frankly, in our opinion, this seems too harsh a consequence for one act of defiance. Giaa wanted to follow her passion and dance in Jhalak. So what? It was bad enough that the producers and channel guys replaced her so fast – though wethink that their reasoning that Saathiya's audiences won't accept her as Gopi after watching her shimmy in sexy clothes in JDJ is really stupid.
Now they want to throw her out of the industry? Isn't that too cruel?
