Part 7 Pg 12Its tea time now and gopi is in the kitchen preparing tea and snacks for everyone. The pain in her feet is unbearable now and she is also feeling feverish.
Gopi (muttering): me sab ko chai de du fir maaji ke paas baith kar thoda aaraam karugi.
Just then anita enters the kitchen yelling for meethi.
Gopi: Anitaben aapko kuch chahiye
Anita: wo mujhe kuch thanda khaana tha.
Gopi: Ji ek Minute
Gopi limped to the fridge and gets roohafza for anita.
Anita noticed that gopi is limping and also that she is sweating a lot. But she didnt say anything. And with a twisted smile took the drink and left.
In the hall gopi and raashi are serving Jigar, parag, hetal and chirag.
Anita is standing near the stairs.
Raashi: Gopi ahem jiju kaha hai.
Gopi: Raashi ben wo shayad kaam me wyast honge me unki chai upar leke jaati hu.
Gopi picks up the tray and moves towards the staircase.
Anita sees gopi coming and spill the drink near the stairs.
Nobody noticed anything, Gopi is still moving towards the staircase...
Gopi steps on the spilled drink and stumbles she is about to collaspe wen she feel someone arms supporting her. But the damage had been done, her already abused feet are now screaming in pain...she looks up to see who was supporting her.
She can see a pair of warm brown eyes filled with concern and then everything goes black...
Ahem was coming down the stairs wen he sees gopi stumbling...He runs and catches her. Ahem is about to scold her for carelessness wen she faints in his arms.
Everyone panics and rushed to them seeing gopi faint. Ahem lifts gopi to take her to their room wen he hears anita saying "Ahem gopi ko sofa pe settle karo... ye ladki ko hua kya hai...itna sa kaam kiya nahi ke faint ho gayi...aunty ka khayaal kaise rajheg..."
Ahem glaring at anita says" Me gopi ko HAMARE kamre me le jaa raha hu. Jigar doctor ko phone karo"
Anita: Ahem me bhi tumhaare saath aati hu
Ahem: Nahi anita tumhe aaraam ki zarurat hai...gopi ka khayaal me rakhuga.
Saying this he lifts gopi and proceeded towards their room.
Everyone follows gohem leaving anita behind who is green with jealousy seeing gopi in ahem's arms.
Ahem gently carried gopi towards their room and laid her on the bed.
Ahem: Kakiji paani dena
Hetal passes the glass of water to ahem
Ahem sprinkles some water on gopi, but gopi still didnt wake up.
He is really concerned now and caresses gopi's forehead willing her to wake up.
Thats wen he notices that gopi has a very high fever.
Ahem: Kakiji gopi ko to bahot tez bhukaar hai. Jigar doctor ko phone kiya kya
Jigar: haan bhai, wo bas aate hi honge.
Gopi mumbles something and tries to get closer to ahem coz she is feeling cold.
Ahem: Haan gopi me yahi hu. Gopi, Gopi utho.Gopi...
ahem draws gopi closer and said to no one in particular " zara blanket udhana"
Raashi: Me karti hu
She goes towards the foot of the bed to pull the covers out and her gaze fell on gopi's feet which are red, swollen and bleeding badly...
Raashi(takes an indrawn breath): ahemjiju, mummyji, gopi ke pair to dekhiye.
Hetal(concerned): hato raashi me dekhti hu.
Hetal went to take a look . Wen she sees gopi's feet her eyes gets filled with tears.
Hetal: Gopi ne kuch kaha kyu nahi.. wo pura din kaam karti rahi. kokila ki seva kiya...use kitna dard ho raha honga.
Ahem: Kaki bataiye na kya hua
(he doesn't want to leave gopi's side)
Hetal: dikra shayad
subah gopi k pair jal gaye the.
Ahem: Kya, Par kakiji jab sabne poocha to usne kuch bataya kyu nahi.
Hetal(with tears in her eyes): Dikra ye gopi hai. Wo apni takleef kisiko nahi batati. Aur aaj jab kokila bimaar hai to gopi apne baare me kaise soch sakti hai. Ye ladki ko sabki fikr hai bas khudki chodke.
Ahem is speechless and stunned by her selflessness and love for everyone, he remembered how much work gopi did today and thinks " God she must be in so much pain, and I didnt even noticed, wat kind of a husband i am? I shud have noticed that something was wrong. She is my responsibility, how can i let this happen. This is all my fault"
Anita is behind the door listening everything and is fuming..."Ye gopi fir sab ki nazro me mahaan ban gayi, iska to kuch karna hi padega."
Saying so she leaves.
The doctor comes and bandages gopi' feet, he advices family members to take care of her, gives medicine and leaves.
Except ahem everyone leaves, he insisted on staying and asks hetal to send his dinner up wenever its ready.
At nights ahem was awakened from a deep sleep by a howling scream like the sound of a tortured animal.
He quickly switched on the lights and saw that it was gopi who was screaming. She was trapped in a nightmare and kept on shouting her maaji's name. The screams then turned to whimpers and she kept on mumbling about some truth, vraths and ghosts and how she wudn't let anyone take her ahemji from her.
Ahem ran to her and gathered her in his arms and kept whispering soothing words to her.
Hearing gopi's scream everyone, except kokila, rushed to gohem room and were shocked to see ahem hugging gopi.
Ahem was oblivious to all and continued to stroke gopi until he felt her relax and heard her breathing calm.
He still didnt let her go.
After sometime hetal tried to intervene and said" Ahem dikra tum jao guest room me aaraam karo me gopi k paas baith thi hoon"
Ahem: Nahi kaki aap jaaiye me yahi rahoonga.
Hetal: Lekin dikra
Ahem: Plzzz kaki
Hetal was stunned to see the emotions playing on ahem's face and she relented.
Everyone left gohem alone and went to their respective rooms.
Its morning now and gopi was still sleeping, her fever was down but ahem was worried, he was about to call the doctor wen he heard gopi calling his name "Ahemji"
Ahem:Haan gopi bolo. Ab kaisa feel kar rahi ho.
Gopi: Ahemji me theek hoon.
Saying this she tried to get up. But ahem stopped her and said "tum yahan se kahin nahi jaaogi, samjhi tum"
Gopi: Lekin ahemjii, maaji
Ahem: Mom ka khayaal rakhne k liye dusre log hai, tum yahi raho samjhi.
Gopi was about to argue wen seeing ahem's face she relented.
Ahem: Me office jaane k liye tayaar hota hoon. Tum yahi raho kaki brkfast leke aati hongi.
Gopi just nodded.
Ahem went to the cupboard to take his office clothes out wen anita barged in the room.
Anita: Ahem me tumhaari madat kar deti hoon. Gopi to ab kar nahi paaegi.
Saying this anita went to the cupboard.
Ahem didn,t like to see her riffling through his clothes. He took a look at gopi expression and opened his mouth to blast anitha wen...
