Part 8:
Early morning anita went to gohem's room. She knew that gopi will not be able to help ahem today. she wanted to take full advantage of the situation, hence, she barged in their room and chirping all the while she went to the cupboard to remove the clothes that Ahem will wear today.
Anita heard ahem clear his throat. She turned towards him expectantly wen she heard gopi say "Anitaben ahemji k kapde wo cupboard me nahi hai. Wo dusre cupboard me hai.
Anita: Theek hai
Anita was about to remove a cream colored shirt wen gopi said "anitaben wo nahi, wo neeli rang ka shirt nikal dijiye
Anita glaced towards ahem to see his reaction, but ahem was looking at gopi with a strange look on his face that she cudn't decipher.
Anita removed the shirt but broke a button thinking that she will stitch it while ahem is still wearing it, this way she will get closer to ahem and also rub it in gopi's face.
Anita then opened a drawer and was in the process of selecting a tie wen again gopi interrupted " Anitaben(sighs) ahemjii tie sirf meetings k liye pehente hai. Aaj unki koi meeting nahi hai. To aaj wo tie nahi pehnege. Aap ye sab kapde bed par rakhiye". Turning towards ahem she said " Ahemjii aapko late ho jaayega. Aap jaldi jaake fresh ho jaaiye, Main hoon na"
Ahem went to the bathroom. He was feeling very uneasy. He didnt want to leave gopi alone with anita. Ahem purposely left the bathroom door ajar. He cud hear them both clearly now. Gopi was directing anita.
Here anita threw ahem's clothes on bed. And turned to remove the handkerchief and socks wen gopi said"Anitaben ye aapne kaise rakha haan. dekhiye shirt yaha rakhiye side me pants yaha warna crease pad jaaye gi.
Anita did as gopi suggested keeping one eye on the bathroom door.
She then went to the drawer to get socks.
After anita did everything as per gopi's instruction and waited for ahem to come out.
Gopi: Anitaben ab aap jaaiye.
Anita: Par gopi agar ahem aur kisi cheez ki zarurat padi to.
Gopi: Kis cheez ki zarurat padegi anitaben sab kuch to yahi hai...
Anita: Haan lekin gopi.
Gopi(angrily): Anitaben ahemji apne kapde khud pehente hai...unhe aur kisi cheez ki zarurat nahi hai...aur baaki zaruraton k liye main hoon na...
Behind the door Ahem was stunned...
Here gopi was also speechless.
But anita was unfazed and like a shameless tart she stood her ground.
Ahem came out from the bathroom quickly took his clothes and left again. He cudn't look at gopi.
After sometime he came out from the bathroom turned to gopi and said " is shirt ka button tuta hua hai.
Anita stepped forward eagerly thinking that this was now her chance to shine " Lao ahem me laga doon"
Hearing this gopi narrowed her gaze at anita and said " Koi baat nahi anitaben aap jaaiye me kar dungi"
Anita: lekin gopi tumhaari tabiyat
Gopi: Mere haathon ko kuch nahi hua hai...ahemjii aap yahan aaiye na".
Ahem dutifully went forward.
Anita cudn't see them together and left fuming. She turned back one last time and saw that both of them were engrossed in each other.
Ahem was in the office thinking about anita's problem and gopi's word.
He decided that it was high time anita left MB.
He made some calls.
After delegating and postponing some meeting he left for home...
At home ahem went directly to his room, he saw that both kokila and gopi were lying in bed with gopi's head in kokila's lap. His mom was showering gopi with maternal love which was his by right.
But strangely for the first time in his life he didn't mind. He was proud and a little teary eyed that gopi had managed to do something that was impossible. She had gained entry in kokila's heart with her love, selflessness, devotion.
There were tears in his mom's eyes, tears of happiness.
Ahem didnt want to disturb this moment. But he sure wished to capture it. So he whipped out his cell and clicked a picture of the saas-bahu duo and silently left the room.
He went to the kitchen and saw that his kaki was busy with housework. He didn't like to burden anyone but his headache was killing him coz of all the time spent on talking about anita.
He asked for green tea and informed his kaki to gather everyone in his room later.
He had something important to discuss.
Later in Gohem's room everyone had gathered. They were all curious about the purpose of the meeting. Ahem went to the bed where his wife and mother were lying. He went towards kokila took her hand in his and said "mom aaj aapse kuch maangna chahta hu...aap dongi"
Everyone was tensed except anita, she thought that ahem will now confess his feelings before everyone and will ask for divorce from gopi and marry her. Everyone was thinking the same except goki.
Ahem kneeled by his mothers side and said " mom kuch dino pehle aapne jo zimmedari li thi use me poora karna chahta hu". Anita was smiling like a cat with a full bowl of cream.
Ahem went on " mom me jaanta hu k anita ki shaadi k liye aap bahot pareshaan hai, isiliye (Gulps) anita ki shaadi ka zimma me uthaoga. Anita k liye ladka me dhoonduga."
Everyone was stunned and there was a chorus of approval from everyone.
Anita was shocked (understatement of the decade). Her dreams, her wishes were burning in front of her just like the kitchens fire. She was dying inside. Her heart felt like it was breaking into innumerable pieces. She shot a look a gopi expecting to see a triumphant smile on her face. What she saw instead pushed her further in the swirling madness her life had become.
Gopi was not looking at her with a smile, nor was there pity in her gaze...instead there was an understanding in her gaze.As if she understood wat she, anita was going thru...but how can that happen. She had everything, loving MIL FIL, husband, brother, sister, uncles and aunts, Gran. And she, anita, educated from a foreign university, owner of her own business, had nothing...
The madness was now consuming her, the one person whom she trusted had betrayed her for a second time. And all bcoz of his illiterate wife.
"Nooo" Anita screamed " you cant do this to me for a second time. i love you. I wont marry anyone else but you. How cud you do this to me Ahem. You love me too. Be a man, and accept it in front of everyone now"
Everyone was shocked by this outburst.
Ahem: Wat the hell r u talking about anita
Anita: Dont you dare shout at me ahem, u broke my rishta, coz of u i was disgraced, my marriage broke, and then u had the audacity to speak with me pretending to be nilesh. You convinced me that u were still in love with me,now u r saying wat the hell i m talking about.Coz of u i became a person I dont recognize anymore. I tried to kill someone coz of u. I again refused a rishta coz of u. and u are now saying that u will find me a groom.
Everyone was stunned hearing this.
Ahem shouted : shut up , just shut up, wen did I tell you that i love you, as for breaking your marriage, I was there in the room first, thn you came. You know nothing happened btw us. Like a fool i went to help you wen your dupatta got stuck. Or was that all your plan to trap me. It was not my fault that ppl speculated on our relationship. But still my family had to bear the shame. All this past year I was guilt ridden . I thought that I had wronged u, i used to hate myself, but u were just a fantasy, u were never real, coz i cud never fall for a gal like u.The situation was not in our control. but the decisions were, u took a wrong decision, how is that my fault. We got nilesh back for u. But still u refused. My mom got a rishta for u, but u said that the guy loves another person and bcoz i dont want you to go thru wat gopi did I refused the rishta.I was repenting for my mistakes. But you thought i was still in love with you.I loved you once, respected you, trusted you, not anymore, coz my heart belongs to another, and as for the respect and trust, you lost that as well.
Hearing all this anita was shattered. Her final thought b4 fainting was that she lost...she lost again.
Dead silence filled after anita fainted. Jigar carried her to her room and came back to goham's room. Everyone was stunned.
No one dared to brk the silence for a long time.
Then Ahem spoke "doctor ko bulao jigar" turning to kokila he said " Mom i sorry, ye sab meri wajah se hua hai, gopi please mujhe maaf kardo"
Gopi: Ahemjii isme aapki koi galti nahi...waqt hi aisa tha...hume jo theek laga wo humne kiya, isme galti kisiki bhi nahi hai...anita ki bhi nahi."
Ahem: Gopi y tum kaise keh sakti ho. Usne tumhare saath kya kuch nahi kiya honga...kitna sunaya honga...aur tum uski tarafdaari kar rahe ho.
Gopi: Ahemjii tarafdaari nahi kar rahi hu...bas samajne ki koshish, anitaben ne bahot kuch khoya hai.
Ahem: Par gopi
Gopi: Ahemjii me ye nahi kehti ki saari baatein bhula dijiye. Bas unki nazar se dekhiye. Taqdeer ka likha nahi badalta ahemjii, koi kuch bhi kar le. Na aap ki galti hai isme, na anitaben ki, haalaat kharaab the.
Hearing tis everyone calmed down.
Kokila: Anita ko is ghar me rakhna theek nahi honga
Ahem: To ab hum kya kare
Koki: uska bhai umang use le jaa sakta hai na
Ahem: wo mom...actually umang anita ka bhai nahi hai...
