Part two...
Ahem spent almost half hour outside, he could not fathom how he could not remember. It was after all just some drug and he had small doses not a huge amount. He would have to find out more about this drug and it's side effects. Gopi was sitting in her room and going over everything that Ahem had said to her. He told her he loved her...did he mean it? Or was she just imagining things to make herself feel better? She decided to think things thru before taking another drastic step like before.
Ahem walked into the bedroom and saw that Gopi was getting ready for bed. He walked up to her and said are you going to sleep. Gopi said yes Ahemji, I am very tired and today I have had to deal with a lot of emotions. Ahem said no problem Gopi. But remember what I said. And I am going to repeat it again, I love you and I am not saying this to make you feel better or out of obligation...I am saying it because I mean it...and saying that Ahem grabbed Gopi by the waist and kissed her on the lips with all the love and passion he felt without going overboard or getting carried away. Ahem then released her and said think about what I said and what I did and then decide if its real or some obligation.
Ahem left Gopi and went to the Almari and got his bedding and went to sleep. Gopi also turned out the lights and went to sleep, In the darkness Ahem could not see, but Gopi had tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. And Gopi could not see the tears in Ahem's eyes and pain on his face. He could not stand to see the pain and suffering he sees in Gopi's eyes. And it was all because of him. For the first time ever, Ahem had a bad dream...It was like a slide show of all the times when he had insulted Gopi or made her feel worthless. He could see her pain and her anguish and it was killing him. Why could he not see all this when it was happening? Was he that shallow that he only saw what he wanted to see? He woke up in a cold sweat and found it hard to breathe. Gopi felt Ahem was tossing and turning and then she saw him sit up in bed and breathe heavily. She turned on the lights and got up and got some water and went to Ahemji.
Ahem saw her with the water glass and looked at her and saw so much love and worry in her eyes and it was all for him. Ahem could not even face her. He took the glass and thanked her. Gopi went to sit next to him and said Ahemji, are you ok? Did you have a bad dream? Ahem looked at her and said no Gopi, I did not have a bad dream. I only saw the truth of my life and I don't know how to handle it. I am lost and I wish there was a way out. Gopi wanted to make Ahem feel better. She didn't know how, and before she could ask Ahem turned around and said Gopi go to sleep, we both need to wake up early, we will talk about this some other time. Gopi just nodded and took the glass from his hand and put it away and they both went to sleep. Ahem could not sleep for a long time. He just kept staring at Gopi's sleeping figure and wondered what was wrong with him? Why he could not see the amount of pain he had been putting her thru.
And for the next two weeks, this is basically how it went for them, Both were nice to each other and both seemed to be doing things for the others happiness. Gopi was slowly starting to get her smile back to the eyes. And Ahem never missed an opportunity to tell her he loves her and show her. Gopi was enjoying the attention. She was more in love with Ahemji. Finally it was the first weekend in so many weeks that Ahem didn't have any work or any meetings he needed to prepare for. He decided to take Gopi for an outing and asked Kokila if it was ok. She nodded and yet was a little wary. She was happy about Gopi and Ahem coming close, but she also did not want them to be so lost in each other that they forgot their other responsibilities. Ahem told Gopi to get ready and they were going to go out. Gopi asked where? Ahem said don't know. We will drive around and see where the road leads us. Gopi was happy and decided to wear the saree Ahemji gave her for Navratri. When Ahem saw her step out of the bathroom with the pick saree on, he was lost and mesmerized by her. He didn't even realize when his feet took him to her...but when he got there, he pulled her to him and kissed her forehead and said you look extremely beautiful today, Gopi. Gopi blushed and said thank you Ahemji. Ahem was over the moon to see the blush and knew Gopi was coming back to her old self of blushing and enjoying being near him. He held her close to him and stayed there for a few minutes. Gopi also had her arms around his waist and was enjoying taking in his musky scent. Then they separated and went downstairs to tell the family they were leaving. Hetal could have cared less and ignored them, but Koki told them to enjoy and to be back early. Ahem said yes mom and Gopi nodded jee Maji. They left.
In the car, Ahem held on to Gopi's hand and didn't let it go. He linked their fingers and a couple of times brought her hand to his lips and kissed her on the back of the hand. Gopi could not stop blushing. She felt like things were finally back to normal and Ahemji had proven himself to her. She moved a little so she was sitting closer to him and leaned into him and rested her head on his arm. Ahem looked at her and felt a huge smile spread across his face. He leaned and kissed the top of her head and continued to drive. They ended up at a park where there seemed to be lots of kids playing while their mothers kept an eye on them.
Ahem and Gopi got down and started to walk around the park. At first they both walked separately and then Ahem went and took Gopi's hand and linked their fingers and continued to walk. Gopi had her fingers linked with Ahemji's in one hand and the other she held his arm and was leaning into him while walking. They reached an isolated area where there was water around them and a small walk way for walkers to continue. Gopi stopped Ahemji and said Ahemji, I wanted to tell you...that...Gopi was finding it hard to say what she wanted and so Ahem let go her hand and grabbed her by the waist and said please tell me, and don't be shy. I want to hear what you have to say. Gopi looked at him and smiled and then put her arms around his waist and said Ahemji, I have always loved you and knowing you love me I feel like I have everything I ever wanted. Ahem knew this was coming and yet when she said it, he could not help but hug her tighter and say, Gopi you are my wife and I am proud to have you in my life. And Gopi there is something I need to tell you as well. They walked to the edge of the lake and found a bench and sat on it still holding each other.
Ahem then went on to tell Gopi about his dream and then he turned to her and said after all you have been thru, you still love me. And I don't know why? But I am not complaining. I am going to enjoy my luck and I promise to give you all the love you deserved and then some. And I promise to never make you cry again. He put his finger under her chin to make her look at him and saw tears in her eyes and got scared. He wiped her tears and said I am still making you cry. Gopi I am sorry for opening old wounds. Gopi smiled at him and said Ahemji, you didn't open any wounds. Those wounds healed when you took care of me in my time of need. You proved to me you would never leave me. Ahemji, there was a time when I thought I would never walk again, and yet you never gave up on me or the fight to help me walk. And these tears are of joy Ahemji, they are going to keep coming...please don't stop them. Ahem felt his heart swell and kissed her lightly on the lips and held her tighter and then he said I love you so much Gopi, I am so happy you are mine and I promise to never do or say anything to upset you...but Gopi, I am a man and I may do something without realizing...so I need you to promise me if it ever happens, you will tell me immediately and not hold it in. Gopi looked at him and said I promise Ahemji...my Ahemji, and she held him tighter...He let out a small laugh and said my Gopi...And they both said in unison, I love you...
The end
