SS: NAHI!! Epilogue
'Gopi, please walk carefully' Ahem muttered to Gopi. 'Yes, I am. I will take care of this life more than me. Please don't worry'. Gopi replied in a calm and soothing tone. She walked down the stairs of Modi Mansion watching every step of hers. She knew that even one little mistake could lead to something very tragic that is why Ahemji was being extra protective.
One step after the other, another few weeks only! I simply can't wait. Every moment of my life was so special to Ahem, but he realised that the best day was the day he had married this lovely fairy, this cute angel. And in a few weeks time he would get a gift from her, one special gift no one besides him could share. He would have the gift of being a father, this gift no one could snatch off him. And the person who would give him this gift was his love, that love he had realised one year ago. In hospital, seeing her like that had made every cell of his body wrench, he never forgot that day till today. From then on, on every step of her life he had supported her till this day. Whenever she got hurt a little, he had always over reacted, he couldn't bear that she was in pain. It was hard for him to forget what had happened a year ago.
Ouch, even that was enough to trigger his protectiveness. But today he was walking with his dear wife, on their way to the hospital, Gopi needed to go for a check up. When he had found out that she was going to bring another life, their sign of love into this world he had been overwhelmed. Every time they had a doctor's appointment, ahem had cancelled meetings, gone late to office, not let anyone else take Gopi to the doctors because he did not want another tragedy to happen with Gopi. Gopi had also understood the reason behind his actions and felt elated. She never stopped him because she knew that he would never let anything happen to her again!
Three weeks later………….
'Ahemji'!!! Gopi cried out in pain. Her mind was reeling and her head was spinning. She knew that the time for the arrival had come. Ahem's head spun around and turned only to see that Gopi was holding her stomach and was about to fall. He ran up behind her and held her close to him. Meanwhile Jigar had got the car out and told Ahem to rush and take his bhabi to hospital. 'Ahemji, it's hurting so much' Gopi head twisted on Ahem's shoulder. 'Shhh, Gopi, don't worry everything will be alright' ahem soothed Gopi but she was in pain and it didn't help. This was
labour pains.
They reached the hospital and ahem quickly called the ward boys to help him take Gopi inside. Everything rushed, and at this moment ahem felt the fear he had felt the day Gopi had been immensely injured. That fear of losing her, the fear of living without her, without her support had made him hollows from the inside. He silently went alongside Gopi's stretcher; she was writhing in pain, gripping the side of the stretcher with such force that her knuckles had become white. They took her into the maternity ward and into the operation theatre. His heat started to beat really fast, he didn't want to think negative he just waited for the happiness in his life to come.
Few minutes later a nurse appeared along with a doctor. 'Mr Modi, I just wanted to ask whether Mrs. Modi was involved in a accident before', why are they asking now Ahem's thoughts buzzed with a billion question, but he just prayed that his Gopi is fine. 'Yes, a year ago'. 'This has caused some complications in her birth, it may cause harm to the mother or the child' the doctor stated sadly.
'NAHI!!' Not this again, ahem thought! He wanted to scream. What kind of test was this that god was putting him through. 'Please sign some papers, so that we can continue with the operation as soon as possible' the doctor continued. 'There's not much time left'. The fear sliced through his heart and every tissues of his body trembled with the thoughts of the tragedy.
Wasting no time he got up to sign the papers. Whilst signing, tears silently slide down his cheek and into the paper. He remembered every special moment spent with his love, every moment of love. He would never forget, no matter what happened to Gopi. But he knew deep down that he could not live without Gopi… it would be living hell.
He handed the papers in and the operation continued, it took nearly an hour which was spent in prayer, sadness and grief by the members of the Modi family. Every sound had made him look towards the door of the operation theatre, he wanted to be by his wife, the only support she had. His heart told him that she was fine. He prayed silently, wishing for all those bad memories of that day never to return.' Waah, waah' a cry of a child rung around the ward ahem looked up, a huge smile spread across his face. He knew that the child was fine, but what about Gopi?
'Congratulations Mr Modi, you have become a father of a lovely son.' Ahem was overwhelmed, he took his child into his hands, it was delicate and so small. Tears of happiness rolled down his cheek, the small life in his hand had round eyes like his mother, and a nose like him. Ahem was extremely happy, he knew that he had never felt so happy after he had realised his love. His son stared at him with his round, dark brown eyes. He felt a sense of gratitude that their symbol of love was fine. He walked towards the room where Gopi was. He needed to know how Gopi was.
'Mr Modi, your wife is fine, just a little weak due to a lot of blood loss.' The nurse said smiling.
He was relieved. Carrying his son, he opened the door and went towards Gopi, she was smiling. She beckoned him forward and put her hands out to take her child into her hands for the first time. Ahem knew that his life would be near perfect now, because there were always ups and downs in life. He went forward and placed the child into her hands and she kissed him tenderly on its forehead. Ahem sat down next to her, no them. They looked complete.
'Thank you Gopi for this priceless gift'
'No Ahemji, he is our symbol of love, he is ours'.
They stared at each other till their son started to wail.
Your son is called Yash, the pandit said. The name had been suggested by Parag, and everyone had agreed to it.
'Hamara Yash (our Yash)' Ahem and Gopi whispered smiling at their lovely child.
