Yuks here are my questions to you:

1. What do you take away for yourself from SNS?

2. What do you think Ahem has to do to realise Gopi is the one for him?

3. Can Jigar pay the price for his wife's ill-doings?

@Diya: Here the OS you asked for. I hope it's worth the wait, I hope you like it.
It's much longer that what I intended.

Ahem paced the room angrily. Glaring at Gopi's books every time he passed the table.

This girl was impossible. She would leave her books at the drop of a hat to go and do some housework.

She would ask him in that sweet voice of hers if she could be excused.

If he said yes, he would be rewarded by a heart warming smile. Her lovely face immediately brightening.

If he said no, her large eyes would immediately widen, wounded, sending a pang of regret through his heart.

What was really annoying him right now was how much she was affecting him these days.

Her books were getting a death glare because he was almost regretting agreeing to teach her.

Almost.

There were no words for the pleasure on his wife's face every time she excelled at something, her look of concentration as she studied or learned something new.

He could watch her like that all day long.

And he had to admit, it was much more peaceful than her hovering over him all the time and asking him whether he wanted something in 5 minute intervals.

He relished the quiet evenings in his room with his wife as he worked and she studied. It was the only few hours in the day when he felt calm and stress-free. The quiet was almost therapeutic.

But right now his therapy session was being interrupted, all because of Raashi.

She had popped into the room about an hour ago and asked Gopi very fake-sweetly if she could help her for a minute. And his wife, of course, had immediately stood up and started to follow her out.

She had done a double take, turned and asked him if she could be excused for a minute.

And right now Ahem was seriously regretting saying yes.

Where was this girl? What was she doing?

He decided to check for himself and went out into the hall to search for her. Maybe she would be in Jigar's room with Raashi. However, as he headed in that direction, he threw a glance downstairs and stopped in his tracks.

Gopi, his wife, who was supposed to be studying, who was excused from all her household tasks, had a cloth in her hand and was dusting tables in the living room.

Meanwhile Raashi, who was responsible for all this, since Mani wasn't around, was sitting on the couch and flipping through a magazine.

What the hell?

Raashi looked up from her magazine and pointed to a large wooden chest and addressed Gopi. "We also need to sort through everything in that and see what needs to be thrown away." Her voice carrying upstairs easily.

We?

She wasn't even doing anything.

But his wife just nodded and replied. "Theek hai Raashi ben."

Ahem just shook his head and went back into his room.

There he continued to pace for another thirty minutes, get angrier as the time went by.

By the time his wife came back into the room, his hands were balled tightly into fists. She walked into the room, smiling happily, her attention obviously elsewhere.

"Where were you?" He snapped immediately, unable to keep the fury out of his voice.

Gopi jumped, the smile wiping from her face, her eyes widening. She scrambled to cover her head with the her sari pallu.

That damn pallu.

She looked at him in apprehension, gripping the edge of the sari tightly.

"Kahan thi tum? Do you know how long it's been?"

Her voice shook a little as she answered. "Mein...Raashi ben..."

"You were supposed to be gone with your sister for a minute. It's been almost 2 hours! I thought you wanted to study Gopi, that's why I've been taking time out to help you." It was true. These days, He would leave work earlier, and thus have to work well into the night sometimes. But still go to bed with the satisfaction of having helped Gopi study. "But if doing all this is more important to you then we can just forget about all this."

Gopi just looked at him in distress. Her wide eyes brimming with tears threatening to spill out. Her lower lip trembling slightly.

Ahem willed himself to calm down. He didn't want to return to square one again.

He was starting to see the effect his behaviour was having on Gopi.

When he would explain things calmly and nicely, Gopi would be calm and happy too. She would smile constantly and display her brilliance.

But when he scolded her, she would immediately revert back to the girl he once hated. The one he thought of as snivelling, meek, incapable of rational thought.

But really, and as much as he hated to admit it, she was terrified of him.

Ahem didn't like her when she was like that. And the only fix was to keep his temper in check and be nicer to her.

Though he did seem almost incapable of even those simple tasks.

When he spoke next his voice was much gentler. "It's okay, no need to cry. Let's just get back to work, okay? I'll take dictation."

Gopi nodded, but her body was still visibly trembling. A couple of tears even managed to slip out.

Ahem Modi, you are the world's biggest moron. Fix this!

Ahem approached his wife and cupped face gently in his hands. He wiped away her spilled tears with the pads of his thumbs.

"Gopi, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have scolded you like that."

Gopi's eyes widened further, this time in surprise.

What? Had he never apologized to her before?

But as he thought back, he really never had apologized to her before.

Moron.

"Forgive me?" He asked in a gentle, almost whisper, looking into her eyes earnestly.

"It's okay." Her reply too, was no less than a whisper. But she managed to smile at him.

Ahem slowly, tentatively, pulled her closer and put his arms around her, hugging her to him.

He felt Gopi freeze for a moment. But then she also tentatively rested her head on his chest, right above his rapidly beating heart, her arms encircling his waist.

This is nice.

He tugged at the back of her sari, making her pallu slip off her head.

This is better.

Out of the corner of his eyes, Ahem noticed Raashi peeking into the room, expressing a mixture shock and irritation at the sight before her.

He hugged Gopi tighter, resting his chin on top of her head. She sighed gently.

Raashi turned around and left. He would have to investigate that later.

For now, he was just going to enjoy this moment with his wife.

Ahem placed a gentle kiss at the top of Gopi's head.

@Swasthi: Here are your answers...

1. What do you take away for yourself from SNS?

Arranged marriages are not the way to go, at all.

I would also like to take away Ahem for myself, if that's allowed😃

2. What do you think Ahem has to do to realise Gopi is the one for him?

He needs to open his heart. He's too clouded by his perceptions of her. He thinks he knows her. He thinks he knows that she's like, but in reality, he's never even had a proper conversation with her. He needs to get to know her. Maybe she isnt the one for him, but atleast his eyes will be open then and he'll be making a conscious decision.

3. Can Jigar pay the price for his wife's ill-doings?

He shouldn't have to. Raashi should be the one paying the price for it all. She needs to repent for her all her misdeeds.
