I am bored...just generally bored today. As a result I have some very random thoughts, questions and observations about today's episode.

  • Was it me or did they go on and on about how good the pulav was? How good can it really be..pulav is rice and veggies? There is only so much you can do with it. Or were they so hungry that it didn't matter what was put in front of them they would have ended up licking their fingers. Naani mentioned it 3 times. Chirag went on about it and then of course Koki took the opportunity to take some digs at Rashi and praise Gopi. Is that really how you manage bahus and relationships in a family? Regardless of how perfect the bahus are, that kind of behaviour/favouritism would give birth to jealousy in any relationship.

Sometimes I doubt Koki's maturity as she'll leave no oppurtunity to show off her vau. It's like small kids showing off their possessions. She doesn't remember that Hetal didn't get to go select her vau. Jigar was being chivalrous.

  • Then Gopi - what can I say about her. She is so needy. Any praise she laps it all up. But she gave this special smile to Aham before moving to naani to serve more pullav on an already full plate. *shaking my head*

Agree with you on that. I sometimes feel like giving her a hard & long shake to bring her to her senses. No one, no matter how sweet or illiterate, can be that good. It's only in reel life you can find such characters. Even a dumb animal can understand harsh words & actions.

  • Did anyone else notice that Aham was eating the pullav by hand when he was licking his fingers then after Gopi served him some more he was using a spoon...hmmm. Bad continuity. It was the same as the holi celebration the colours on the actor's faces was different in each shot. Messy.

Agreed, CV's as usual slipping up. Maybe he suddenly realised he has an image to portray that of being the Modi scion.

  • What was with the head massage? Do normal grown up men really have their mom's malish their scalps? I was a bit creeped out by that scene...or is it just me and my North American sensibilities that don't understand? It's no wonder Naani keeps calling him a mumma's boy.

Maybe they wanted to underline Nani's words about Ahem being Koki's boy. Or was it Ahem's way of showing Koki her importance in his life, just in case she forgot? LOL! Another thing, I want to add, Ahem looks to him mom for every little thing. Wonder how he works (& is successful) in the office? Does he call Koki before taking a decision: Mom, my green tea has gone cold, do I call the tea-boy to heat it or tell him to make fresh?

  • Was all the teel malish a very cheap way to get Gopi to grab Aham's hand and didn't really mean anything?

Gopi is definitely getting bold. Earlier she would stammer or keep silent. Yesterday, she told Ahem that she'd only brought the clothes & today the hand grab. Maybe she knew Ahem wouldn't listen to her if she tried to stop him.

  • Why did Aham (yes golden boy is back) turn to look at Gopi before he left his mom's room? Are we to believe that Aham feels something for Gopi. Am I the only one who is having a hard time with this?

I feel doubt he feels anything other than 'is gawar ki itni himmat!' Did you notice Gopi didn't give him a second glance? Is Gopi growing up? I hope so.

  • Loving the relationship between Urmi and Kinjal. Like the way Kinjal sticks it to Urmi.

I was remembering Kamal Hasan's song "...We are made for each other. Samjhe?" from Ek Duje Ke Liye. How about that song from Do Aur Do Paanch: "Arre Tune abhi dekha nahin, dekha hai to jaana nahin"?

  • Dhawal is a total male Gopi. Love the way he calls Kinjal - Kinjalji...Moving forward I christen Dhawal DHOBI!

Agreed & both the bro-sis duo mistreat them & they follow them with tails wagging, hoping for a pat on the head, instead they get a kick!

  • Why is Gopi's tied back hair back? Is the makeover well...over?

Yes, the nails are gone & so's the hair style, back to square one? Forgot... even the saas is back

  • At the end again Naani and Koki take another opportunity to sing Gopi's praises. I know Gopi probably needs all the boast to her self-esteem but I am getting cavities listening to it all and starting to feel sympathy for Rashi. Okay not quite!

No, definitely not. After suffering her for all these months, Rashi's getting some loooong overdue returns. I'm only sorry that it's not sood samet. LOL

Overall I found the show a bit choppy today, they were all over the place. I guess they are moving from the Holi track to the tender track and the CVs don't know how to do that smoothly.

I must say however, at the end I liked how Aham and Gopi exchanged a couple of looks after they discovered there was no newspaper delivery. Otherwise it was same old same old for me.

Please feel free to add your 2 cents or paise to this thread!

Loved your overall assessment.

Shelley love your analysis,

just a few things getting head massage from mum ok with that have no problem its going back to you childhood
Gopi neediness the way i see it is what has gopi ever got from urmilla did that woman ever give her a kind word about her work her cooking, she made her feel worthless, the only true love she felt was from mahma n going to mandir . Now she is this bahu to a strict regimented woman, she has not felt any love from husband he treats her like dirt, she wants her to accept her, kokila is strict but fair, yesterday when rashi made the tea kokila complimented n rashi lapped it up, so why cant gopi for her it is happiness. if it makes her happy let it her life hasnt been a bed of roses

Though it is still quite common for men to get their head oil massaged by their mum. I come from an extensive punjabi family that is well settled in the UK. All the men in my family and in laws enjoy it when their mum gives them a head massage. Though I do stress as well that they are not mummy's boys!

So I dont know if it has to do with a particular indian background / race. Please do comment.

same here my mom gives to my brother but funny enough she still gives me one n i love it, so i carried the tradition to my kids 😉

Totally agree with everything you wrote Shelly......except the tel maalish bit......it is quite normal in a lot of families.......Also, considering their young ages (Gopi/Rashi must be around 21-22 since they showed Rashi in college).....And so Jigar/Ahem must be around 23-24......Still young enough to be attached to the mother in some close knit families......
Also, generally, if there is a grandmother in the house, then it is usually she who does the tel maalish for all the 'children' and bahu's in the family......Since Indians do not use hair dryers......if the bahu/daughter has long hair....then they often show the mother/MIL drying/oiling/combing her hair.......
I guess these are Indian ways of bonding......

  • I see how they waste their food 😭 shame shame especially on Nani for taking more than needed
  • 👏 You got an eye of an eagle to notice that I guess Ahem changed his mind in the middle as he remembered ke mujhe toh ungliyaan chaat ni hai 😆
  • North American sensibilities 🤣 I couldnt agree more...even I though it was weird but then again I live in NA so I think it might explain my ridiculed expressions...

I am thinking it is NA sensibilities...it us who are too far from that part of the culture who were uncomfortable with the malish part. So I will leave it to experience.

If that was supposed to be romantic or something it certainly wasnt it creaped me out actually wit Gopi grabbing hand and Ahem staring at koki😕
The CV's are giving us hope 😳 hopefully he feels something
I really hope so. But again it is the way they go about showing romance that is so different than what I would like to see.

Loving the relationship between Urmi and Kinjal. Like the way Kinjal sticks it to Urmi⭐️ I can give the two an award for the way they bother each other with such ease😆.

U and K are better together than U and R.

Dhawal is a total male Gopi. Love the way he calls Kinjal - Kinjalji...Moving forward I christen Dhawal DHOBI! 🤣 Very well said
  • Why is Gopi's tied back hair back? Is the makeover well...over? I was so disappointed by this * sighs*
You have to wonder why they bother sometimes! *bigger sigh*

@Vishwa (I believe I saw that was your name on another thread)

Thanks for your comments and agreeing with some parts ... at least I am not totally alone in my opinions.. I added mine above!

Hi, Shelly, finally watched today's epi, I am in danger of developing diabetes from all the sweet praises for Gopi, once or twice was enough and Ahem obviously thought so too, because he was shaking his head like here we go again, is gawar ke praises once again,.

I want to scream to my laptop...this is way to over the top! You're getting diabetic and my dentist is rubbing his hands in glee! Yea! Noticed him shaking his head...I think it was at Naani...like saying she is not going to let this go.

As for your North American sensibilities, I wouldn't worry about it, because I too felt that is the most disturbed relationship ever, you don't even want to know what I am thinking about, but It makes me wonder how long she breast fed this boy, because that's what he is spoiled brat, how old is he supposed to be 25 or 27, it doesn't matter, he is a grown man, for god sake take stand and act like a man.

You're so right, he is a total brat and he is so spoiled that I can smell the badboo from here.

As for Gopi, I don't even know where to start, I love her character, but she reminds me of a friend who is just too nice, take all the yelling and insults, but still has something to smile about, if it was anyone else in her place, they would have turned mental, no one remains this sweet after taking so many insults and abuse, and you certainly wouldn't love that person anymore, and I say same for Heatal, I am beginning to not like her at all.

Not sure why the lead character is so unrealistic! Her character is completely exasperating!

Now I come to Rashi, I don't know what I am more disturbed by Koki/Ahem relationship or Rashi/Urmi relationship, did she just say mami ka pallu pakar ke chal na parega, are you serious?

Really have to wonder which relationship is more dysfunctional. However at the moment Urmi is more self serving! But that could change for Koki when Aham starts to turn towards Gopi.

Is this what we have to look forward to in the future.

I don't even want to mention rest of the cast, But I will mention Nani,

Nani was good, in the end she saved Gopi from more yelling, as for Ahem he has too many big things to apologize for this was a minor thing, that apology will never come

But she too is written as a caricature. As are all the other characters...no depth and width.

Hi Shilpa, I was laughing so hard when read your comments about how long she breast fed him!! Seriously!
😆

I added more comments above.

Shelly i think someone mentioned before the direction is totally wrong, when they are editing the clips, the timing is completely off, I think Ahem was supposed to shake his head when Koki was pointing out Rashis mishap, but instead they showed it when Nani was praising Gopi, totally wrong, so I will forgive him this one.

I watched the show again and think (this is long stretch), there MAY have been regret on his face for yelling at her for no reason.

When he turned around and looked at her when leaving Koki's room was totally spontaneous, our boy is slow, but he is thinking, just too slow, and we don't know if its good or bad and he has also done this in the past. But at first I was really mad at him.

It was the unexpectedness of the scene for me. Aham is so aloof and distant that seeing him so comfortable in that scene with his mother was a bit shocking for me. I didn't think he allowed himself to be close to anyone in the family even his mother. He is usually pretty formal with her. He hugged her when she was really down during the Kinjal kand but normally it is all "jai shree krishna mom"

I have never seen any males outside of children receive a massage. Again I accept that this is normal on your comments.

Why they were praising pulav? Well, its the first time the Modis were eating a dish made frm leftover rice.. So pulav tasted "gud" and they couldnt stop eating and praising "meri" gopi vau
