Good points Rana! I added my comments above. I loved your comment about him calling MOOM from the office! Really grow up Aham! You're a big boy now.

Too bad your Rashi put soat in the kichdi, otherwise they would have been praising the kichdi, by the way both dishes are made with Rice, and us Gujarati's sure do eat lot of rice no doubt about it.😆

Gopi neediness the way i see it is what has gopi ever got from urmilla did that woman ever give her a kind word about her work her cooking, she made her feel worthless, the only true love she felt was from mahma n going to mandir . Now she is this bahu to a strict regimented woman, she has not felt any love from husband he treats her like dirt, she wants her to accept her, kokila is strict but fair, yesterday when rashi made the tea kokila complimented n rashi lapped it up, so why cant gopi for her it is happiness. if it makes her happy let it her life hasnt been a bed of roses

Thanks Suk,

I will take what you all with experience in massage are saying. I haven't seen that before other than children.

Agree that Gopi needs all the love and attention but they go about it all wrong.

Totally agree with everything you wrote Shelly......except the tel maalish bit......it is quite normal in a lot of families.......Also, considering their young ages (Gopi/Rashi must be around 21-22 since they showed Rashi in college).....And so Jigar/Ahem must be around 23-24......Still young enough to be attached to the mother in some close knit families......

Also, generally, if there is a grandmother in the house, then it is usually she who does the tel maalish for all the 'children' and bahu's in the family......Since Indians do not use hair dryers......if the bahu/daughter has long hair....then they often show the mother/MIL drying/oiling/combing her hair.......
I guess these are Indian ways of bonding......

Hi Sonal,

Yes I can see how boys that young would be close to their mothers and grandmothers. I had never seen that before and it seemed out of character for Aham who keeps himself so aloof from everyone even his mother to a certain extent.

Totally agree Jake...they went on and on about the pulav! It was so annoying and unrealistic!

Shelly i think someone mentioned before the direction is totally wrong, when they are editing the clips, the timing is completely off, I think Ahem was supposed to shake his head when Koki was pointing out Rashis mishap, but instead they showed it when Nani was praising Gopi, totally wrong, so I will forgive him this one.

I watched the show again and think (this is long stretch), there MAY have been regret on his face for yelling at her for no reason.

When he turned around and looked at her when leaving Koki's room was totally spontaneous, our boy is slow, but he is thinking, just too slow, and we don't know if its good or bad and he has also done this in the past. But at first I was really mad at him.

Shilpa, agree the editing and even plot, direction, camera (I could go on) are really poor. Sometimes when you compare to another show that is much better ... it seems like they have hired amateurs to run the show.

I did like the look he gave her before he walked away at the end ... really hope it was regret...again really hope he is thinking!

@shilpaben
if kichdee was not spoiled, koli will take the praise. Not Rashi<sigh>.. Even we southies eat a lot of rice, but we dont discriminate the person who mixed the ingredients and person who gave it a final touch.. And everybody sits and eat together. The girls dont wait untill the oldies and men hav their tummy full.. But i think thats a Modi speciality😆
@Khaki.. Koki is mad<sigh>

I am bored...just generally bored today. As a result I have some very random thoughts, questions and observations about today's episode.

  • Was it me or did they go on and on about how good the pulav was? How good can it really be..pulav is rice and veggies? There is only so much you can do with it. Or were they so hungry that it didn't matter what was put in front of them they would have ended up licking their fingers. Naani mentioned it 3 times. Chirag went on about it and then of course Koki took the opportunity to take some digs at Rashi and praise Gopi. Is that really how you manage bahus and relationships in a family? Regardless of how perfect the bahus are, that kind of behaviour/favouritism would give birth to jealousy in any relationship.

  • Then Gopi - what can I say about her. She is so needy. Any praise she laps it all up. But she gave this special smile to Aham before moving to naani to serve more pullav on an already full plate. *shaking my head*

  • Did anyone else notice that Aham was eating the pullav by hand when he was licking his fingers then after Gopi served him some more he was using a spoon...hmmm. Bad continuity. It was the same as the holi celebration the colours on the actor's faces was different in each shot. Messy.

  • What was with the head massage? Do normal grown up men really have their mom's malish their scalps? I was a bit creeped out by that scene...or is it just me and my North American sensibilities that don't understand? It's no wonder Naani keeps calling him a mumma's boy.

  • Was all the teel malish a very cheap way to get Gopi to grab Aham's hand and didn't really mean anything?

  • Why did Aham (yes golden boy is back) turn to look at Gopi before he left his mom's room? Are we to believe that Aham feels something for Gopi. Am I the only one who is having a hard time with this?

  • Loving the relationship between Urmi and Kinjal. Like the way Kinjal sticks it to Urmi.

  • Dhawal is a total male Gopi. Love the way he calls Kinjal - Kinjalji...Moving forward I christen Dhawal DHOBI!
  • Why is Gopi's tied back hair back? Is the makeover well...over?

  • At the end again Naani and Koki take another opportunity to sing Gopi's praises. I know Gopi probably needs all the boast to her self-esteem but I am getting cavities listening to it all and starting to feel sympathy for Rashi. Okay not quite!
Overall I found the show a bit choppy today, they were all over the place. I guess they are moving from the Holi track to the tender track and the CVs don't know how to do that smoothly.

I must say however, at the end I liked how Aham and Gopi exchanged a couple of looks after they discovered there was no newspaper delivery. Otherwise it was same old same old for me.

Please feel free to add your 2 cents or paise to this thread!

Shelly,

If you are talking about continuity, logic, editing kind of stuff - there are flaws in every episode - rather every scene. I have come to the conclusion that flaws are the norm of SNS.

But the leftover rice on a festival day actually surprised me. I guess for a family as rich and as orthodox as Modis leftover food should be a no-no on festival days and if served for elders it is considered as an insult. But then this is SNS. Anything goes.

For the Champi stuff - I guess it is quite common in Indian families. Many of my relatives even feed their sons who are well over 25 on a regular basis. Why, I should say that my mother used to plait my hair till I left home for grad school and even now does it whenever she lives with me. Drying wet with some incense smoke and herbal powder was a ritual in our home every week and would have continued if I had lived in India. And I am not that ancient 😆 Even now during weddings and family gatherings, all my cousins and cousin-in-laws get their hair plaited by my mother.

But then why they put the champi incident in SNS - lack of creativity like many other episodes. Even the soap business, if only Gopi/Mani is washing the clothes always, why they keep the soap in the ensuite bathrooms? Soaps for clothes are generally kept separately. And yellow soaps - are they even available? - I thought long back we switched to blue detergents. At least, somebody as rich as Modis would use a detergent and not these old fashioned cheap ones. And then gopi uses a pale green soap which looks like a showering soap to wash sofa covers. Will she ever get it cleaned? There is no need to do any research - just use common sense. But then, that is asking too much from the CVs.

It is not that the CVs are dumb; they think that the viewers are. They think that we do not care for any details things as long as they show some stupid in-laws fight and extreme suffering of the female lead.

And, most of the time the direction looks like a play staged by middle school children.

Okay! Rant over! Now I can go back and have fun with SNS.
