Apara Mehta is so petrified of snakes that her director had to use a body double for her, for a scene involving a real snake
Apara Mehta is so scared of snakes that when she heard a live snake was going to be used for a shot in Saat Phere, she warned her producers that she would run away from the sets if they really dared to do it. So, the producer, having to choose between Apara and a real snake, chose to hire a body double for Apara for the scene.
The scene goes that Apara or Kuki Kaki pretends to be blind but as soon as she comes across a snake she shrieks, thus revealing her true colours. The producer wanted to use a real snake as it would look convincing on screen. But Apara got goose bumps and refused to shoot the scene with a snake.
When contacted, Apara says, "I just can't help it. I am very scared of snakes and the sight of them gives me the shivers. So, when the producers told me about the scene, I told them three days before the shoot that I wouldn't be able to do the scene if they used a real snake."
But it was not a poisonous snake, wasn't it? Apara replies, "I don't care whether it is poisonous or not. A snake is a snake! They shot with a body double. I would have been so scared that enacting the scene with proper emotions would have been impossible. In fact, my series director himself was so petrified of the snake that he completed it very quickly. "
