Neena laments the lack of realistic shows on TV today. "People want immediate drama. There's no time to set up a base for the characters and the story to grow on the audience." She recalls that even when Saans had started, it had not been a success in the initial few weeks. "Characters become yours when you see them in the living room, in the balcony, in the market, not when you see them only inside the house." Meanwhile, Neena is playing Manno bhabhi in Saath Phere — Saloni Ka Safar . "A lot of people ask me why I'm doing these kind of roles and ask me to do my kind of serials, but they don't realise that if I don't do these shows, I'll end up sitting at home," she says adding that she has no choice. "As it is, there are hardly any good roles available for people of my age group. You can either be a positive maasi or a negative bua."
