Serial characters jazz up ad world
In advertisements, while most actors are seen as themselves or new characters according to the need of the product, a recent paint company signed up four popular actors to play their onscreen characters while endorsing the brand.
So we saw Barun Sobti & Sanaya Irani aka Arnav and Khushi enact their nok jhok from their hit STAR Plus show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and Ravi Dubey & Aishwarya Sakuja as Tej and Toasty showcase their romantic chemistry from their successful serial Sony's Saas Bina Sasuraal. We talk to the actors about the novel concept.
In the ad, your on screen jodis were showcased which not only added star value but recall factor too for the audiences as the ad had popular characters. What did you think of the concept? Ravi Dubey says, "I was nice to encapsulate the romantic chemistry of Tej and Toasty. It was a different experience to exhibit in 10 seconds the gist of their relationship. I am glad the characters and serial has worked so well that we were called on board for this ad. I didn't have any problems playing Tej again as if not that then I would be playing some other role in the ad. Either way it works for me. I have done numerous ads and this was a pleasure. It is a fresh concept which will connect with people."
His co-star Aishwarya Sakuja too agrees. "It was interesting and humbling to know that we were signed on because our roles were popular. It was satisfying to do the ad and I am sure the client wanted the product and the actors endorsing it to be relatable to the audience and what better way than a popular show."
Playing their respective roles in the ad was a cakewalk for the actors who enjoyed being the star and doing an ad which will bring them exposure in various other sectors other than the serial watchers.
