My Q here is

1. what is difference between plagiarism and inspiration

Plagiarism is non-ritualistic indifferent copy.. inspirational copies speak for themselves...people who copy arent really into changing the original so its indifferent.. inspiration generally has variations of originality...

2. what differentiates composers like Pancham from (de)composer Pritam

Nothing.. I love both.. Its always good to have a chilled beer and listen to good music.. Pritam's compositions are excellent...

3. If everyone has lifted right from naushad to Pritam and Himesh then why only Himesh is punched and naushad saab get sugar coated treatment..?

See the answer for 1. Naushad comes across as a true dedicated musician who takes tunes to adapt but some of the anu malik types just take the tune and tamper it here and there to make it different

I hope God will forgive me for putting the legends and Himesh in one cradle..! I don't mean it but this will prove some points as discussion unfolds. Himesh is a legend.. an immaculate composer... Would MD's like Naushad survive today? I dont think. everything is a matter of time...

But the main question is who copied whom?😉 My guess is ........ P_____m.

PS:By the way Punjini amma may i ask, how on earth did u discover it?

Trishanku appa, it was discovered by my sister and I was shocked to find that it was such a complete copy - as bad a case as Pritam. Only one thing that I could gather from the youtube discussions is that RD has not copied from this source I have posted but from the original Cyprus tune. Similarly the youtube song I have posted has also been copied from the Cyprus tune.

Recently plagarism has been a big legal issue. Sometimes it is possible that certain parts of a song could sound almost similar to an existing tune, but whole sale coping should not be allowed unless it is legally done.

There is definitely a difference between a composer who has lifted all the songs and a composer who has lifted 10 songs 😆 And yes, Himesh has never been targeted for lifting of songs, but for his monotonous music and nasal singing 😆 So, thr is no room to compare Himesh and Naushad sahib

Thr is definitely a difference between plagiarism and inspiration... One can get inspired by a raag and compose the song which we call raag based songs.. You can get inspired by a song and just use the prelude of the song, while you change the tune.. But plagiarism is direct lifting and also not giving the due to the actual composer 😉

I think copying a song after making paying the original song writer is completely legal and acceptable. With modern accoustics and equipment several improvements and remixes can be done. Himeshji makes one song into ten thru remixes.😆

I hope you are not joking , Himesh's career of less than 10 years in music is riddled with accusations of tune lifting, I am holding myself back as a LOT has come in the print media. And they never had any brilliance of improvisation.

Going by examples there is NO composer right from C Ramachandran to R D Burman who has not come under scanner , examples are there and Kartik saab (who owns ITOWFS) is making livelihood out of this only...!!😆😆

Now this is another thing that many of his so called lifted tunes in the list (specially in AR Rehman, Ilaya Raja, and even Pancham category ) doesn't conform to what is being claimed.

If one is Pancham's supporter he/she will see it as inspiration and if one dislikes Himesh he/she will see it as Plagiarism 😳

so can we conclude that amount of improvisation is same by two composers..??

If it is a matter of personal liking we are no one to say anything but if you are claiming what you have said I request you to furnish few articles by critics of high calibre stating that Himesh is a legend and a great composer.

Yes Naushad saab won't have survived in the same way as many greats are finding it hard to survive.
Cultures extinct when patronage is not there and currently there is no patronage for good work.
Ghatiya is in good is out.
But still when great people get work it shows and is passed on from one generation to the other like H N Mangeshkar (Lekin), Sajjad saab, S Choudhary, Ravindra Jain. They may have done only a hand ful of movies but their work speaks for itself.
