I have seen on this forum that many a times, people are talking about Anamika's ascent. I agree she has a Bengali ascent. But I feel Rohanpreet has a lot more Punjabi ascent and sometimes it is hard to make out if he is talking in Hindi or Punjabi. I don't know why people on this forum never talk about Rohanpreet's ascent...........

u r right. i never blame on kids, they r kids and they don't know abt correct pronunciations. either their mentors should correct them while practising or judges should correct them after their performance. ...but they just keep on ignore it.😕

Anamika comes to the discussion because she is doing well and a good contender for the top position. Initially, zee gave the chance to talk about it through Adi's poem Vs "Powem". The fact is that, there is no obviousness of her accent in her singing. Ofcourse, there are few wrong pronounciation here and there for all the contestants.

A 12 years old girl born in a bengali family, raised in an Assamese society, studying in an English medium school cannot be exected to speak locknowie hindi/Urdu. Same thing for Rohan too. I think these guys are doing a fantastic job.

lol😆

I guess it's ok in informal speaking but not in singing. Suresh Wadkar while speaking informally says "ja" instead of "za"...I always do that too. It's common all around India. But singing has to be pronounced well because song lyrics are shayari and the lyricists could get offended if the words are not pronounced properly. Sureshji wouldn't do that while singing.

Anamika is a bengali speaker, and she will have some trouble pronouncing some of the hindi words correctly, because it is difficult for us sometimes, since we are not so used to speaking in hindi that often. But i'm sure, like Sanchita, she'll pick it up soon. :)

yup I agree and I think she has picked up a lot already, more in singing than speaking. Her pronunciation now is much better than how it used to be IMO.

I think that a bit of accent is quite cute at times, some Punjabi accent, some Bengali accent etc. I like it. Agreed it may not suit all songs, but singers nowadays need to be able to do several things especially if they are going to be playback singers.

I don't understand why people make such a big noise about pronunciation. I like to hear the accent of Bengalis, Punjabis, Tamilians and so on when they sing in Hindi. I loved the way Hemant Kumar sang in his Bengali accent or the way Lata pronounced Bengali words. Let there be all colours in the rainbow.
