Sonpan, I saw your 100 questions to Ron.😆 Seemed cruel to the poor guy. Luckily he is made of iron.😆

Now Aditya from the classrooms is going to the movies.👏

Hope he continues to anchor the SRGMP Show, if not, I will see a very sad Sonpan.😕

For the longest time, we knew Aditya Narayan as the kid from Pardes and the chap who came to collect awards on behalf of his father Udit Narayan. For someone whose singing skills in his initial years were in serious doubt, he did well thanks to papa dearest.

But today he speaks of stepping out of his father's shadows and very openly says, "Someday he will be known as Aditya Narayan's father." For many Aditya may come across as hugely arrogant. But the fact remains that he's one of the few hosts who is seemingly quite popular with the audiences.

The young chap went on to win four honours last year – the Indian Television Academy (ITA) Award, the Lions Gold Award, the Kalaakar Award and the Cinegoers Award, all for Best Anchor.

And can we forget the time when an enthusiastic young female fan walked up to him and kissed him on national television? Indeed, over the months, Aditya has earned himself a unique distinction of being someone you can love or hate but certainly cannot ignore.

We chatted up this new heartthrob of the small screen, who is also planning to release a music album. Excerpts from an interview:

How has the whole Li'l Champs experience been?

Fabulous! When I parted with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, I thought it can't be the same experience. I was happy to be part of the show. Through it, I got to know everyone from the music industry – people I didn't know before. Like when Asha Bhosle was expected, I told everyone to treat me like a star!

In a world where youngsters want success in a jiffy, you being the son of a famous singer and a child artiste yourself, chose to take a break. Why?

The age of adolescence from 13–17 years, when you're neither a child nor an adult, your voice is changing and you look funny, so I chose to take a break. Also, I completed my education from Mithibai College in Mumbai and pursued a diploma in English Contemporary Music from London. I wanted to live a normal life there.

What about the plans to bring out your first album?

It will be out in February, when Li'l Champs comes to an end. It is my baby. Very unlike other albums – it's not about love or heartbreak. I hope to break the rules. Music is much more than just ballads or club music. I want to bring back melody and some Western influences.

Have you composed any music for the album?

Yes, I'll be composing, writing and also arranging.

Do you like Western music more?

I've been listening to it since I was 13 and I fell in love with it. In my album, I'm going to sing in English, too. All my albums in the future will be different. I want to study my perception of music through them.

Do you think Indian listeners will accept you like that?

Why not? They accepted me in colourful clothes on Sa Ra Ga Ma Pa. People liked me, they came up to me and kissed me. I'll try my best in my album, too.

Your friend said on TV recently that you like to be known as Aditya Jha. Is it because you want to step out of your father's shadow?

Nothing like that. I'm happy to be known as Udit Narayan's son. Someday, people will call him Aditya Narayan's father. Will you then ask him whether he wants to be known as Udit Jha?

That friend of mine was actually Rahul Vaidya, one of the first Indian Idol finalists. We were in college together. He was the one who started calling me AJ. It stood for Aditya Jawan and not Aditya Jha. You know, when you're young and in college, this whole army thing excites you…so, we all called each other Jawan.

Do you get to spend time with your dad?

I like to be at home and I do spend time with him. Same goes for my friends. Everyone is special.

How do you handle the female adulation you receive?

I like to be among girls. Who doesn't like that? My friends are jealous of me! I like pretty, fit girls with some degree of intellect. Oops. That seems to be the wrong thing to say, is it?

What do you want to be known as five years from now – singer, actor or music director?

I just call myself an artiste. I'm everything. There's a lot of talent that people have. Look at Sonu Nigam – he's a singer, composer and he's acted in three films!

Doesn't Himesh Reshammiya do the same things? Do you like him?

I'm a fan of Himesh's music – his compositions. He's got a great sense of music. People like his songs, so there has to be a certain quality to his music.

How much have you learnt from Sonu Nigam? Are you closer to him than your dad because of the generation gap?

He's very sound technically. And, he's certainly like an elder brother, as I don't have any siblings. But I'm close to my dad. Udit Narayan is the simplest human being. I must've done something great to be born as his son.

What about film offers? Are you taking any acting lessons?

I've got many offers but don't want to handle routine stuff. I don't want to play a college guy who falls in love with a girl and so on and so forth. Maybe I want 10 girls – something different. And no, no acting lessons as of now.

How many hours of riyaaz for you daily?

Say, 24 hours in a week. It's important for me to be accepted as a singer first. People, my parents and even I expect that much from me.

What is your routine like? Are you into sports?

I go to the gym so I wake up early. I'm there for three-and-half-hours because I eat like a pig and I have to burn at least 1,500 calories per day. On weekends, I religiously play cricket. My favourite cricketers are Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Adam Gilchrist, Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds. I also love to go bowling and play pool, watch F1 and football.

Who are your favourite singers and actors today?

I like Sonu Nigam, Sukhwinder, Alkaji, Sunidhi and Shreya. I love AR Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music. They believe in good music, which is not necessarily commercial. Among actors, I love the three Khans. Salman is fun off-screen too. I love Shah Rukh though I feel he has really acted only in Chak De. And I love Big B!

Well... if you look at it in the year 2007 he has CDI and OSO.... CDI his acting was SOOOOO good and DIFFERENT but OSO was also really good but it was the same as lets say Main Hoon Na... I agree with him on that point but I still LOVED OSO!!!😳
