Oh yeah, as for Samir's rendition, does not even come close to Amanat's. Other than the childish voice, it just did not have the subtle nuances that Amanat's rendition did. It was more the atmosphere (all the lil champs singing for their parents) that did the trick there.

Comparing the wine with grape is not the most prudent thing to do, Ashish. They both taste good but different. I disagree that Sameer's song brought tears to eyes purely because of the circumstance as you state above. He sang with soul. A lot of not-so-Sameer-fans of this forum also testified to that. Do not compare the voice quality of the two. You are comparing the voice of a mature trainer 20 years old voice with a immature not-even-in-his-teen kid.

Exactly, even Arati Mukherjee who sang another song from the same movie received best female playback for "Do naina" had the same problem.

Btw, I heard Sameer's version. God he's besura. 😕

Besura at what scale? Who are you comaring with? Is there a metric on which you are measuring him? Present please...😃

You just speak my mind. Few days back I started a thread on the same point. An original song by a legendary singer and composer can never be beaten how much extra variation you put. Original is original. Woh awaz kaha se laogey!

(Only exception to me was "Jane kya chahey mann" by Aneek, he did not do anything to the original version but his voice suited more than Zubin for that song)

See..I am a die-hard Aneek fan....so I can afford to enlist several songs that sounded better than originals but i know not a lot of people buy it..😃..But that is the way art is...right?...it is a lot about perception😛

I was wondering where you were 😆. I don't think we should have comparisons especially when one of those being compared is only 11 years old. I love the original (both versions), I love Sameer's rendition and I love Amanat's rendition, too. To me it has been a lot of a good thing and I have enjoyed it thoroughly.

Amanat definitely sang well. But Anup Ghosal ji's version is better. In the movie, for the situation the song was set on, his version brought out the melancholic and helpless feeling very well.

It is the emotion in the lyrics that touch the heart more and offcourse the musical score, so soft and yet so forceful, but that is what makes the song powerful. The rendition of Lataji and Anup Ghosal ji brought out the soul of the song and touched most hearts as it connected somewhere.

Amanat is very good. But he is no way better than Dr.Ghosal. Dr.Ghosal is a force to reckon with in bengali music. Most Satyajit Ray films have him as the lead singer. His songs of the gupi bagha series are just mindblowing.
