Should singers be judges?

Okay so Ismail Darbar made a comment that singers should not be judging a singing competion. How many of you agree with him?

I feel it is okay for older singers to come on as judges as they have many years of singing and usually don't find the new talent a threat... i.e Lata mangeshkar etc...

However, not so old and current singers who would fnd new talent as a threat, i.e Alka yagnik, kumar sanu, Abhijeet, etc... should not be allowed to have the final say in who stays and who goes... music directors is a better choice... as the singers who are still on their way up or down in their career might feel threatened by fresh new talent and not let the good talent come up in the show...

thats just a wrong statement....who the hell sings the damn songs, they no more than most of the judges...they understand the notes very well..so stupid

I think both singers and music composers are the best judges of singing competitions. Music composers have a little more power as they are the one's who decide who is going to sing a song or not and how they should sing that song based on their composition. A music composer as a judge can make the future of an aspiring singer. But a singer cannot do much for the future of a singer.But, I think they are both good.

The farah khans of the world should not be judges . Just my opinion.

well, he originally was and is a music director.
from aashiq banaya aapne he became a singer
and now he's an actor in AKS .. the moviee. 😊

I don't see any reason why some of these singers should feel threatened. At some point in time even these singers have had to struggle in the industry to survive. So, after watching these participants struggle they should in fact try to make things a little easier for the participants.

Besides, if they are good singers themselves why feel threatened about others? They should be confident enough about their own talent.

I am not denying that some singers may not feel threatened, many do, sadly, as a matter of fact. I have heard that (could be a rumour) Lata always wanted to be the number one singer, hence she did not allow other singers in the industry. She used to blackmail all the directors and to some extent she didn't even let her sister Asha to rise.

Definitely Great singers can judge singers.
And here we are talking abt legends like Asha-Tai and Lata-Di most definitely.They have worked with more music directors than perhaps Ismail-Ji with singers. Its surprising to hear such a comment from Ismail-ji, whatever be the reason behd it, its in bad taste.

The established singers are far ahead in experience and fame so shdnt feel insecure. Thats precisely why they are judging the competition.

well i think, singers and music directors are definitely worth judging new talent because they are the only ones who can understand where the singer stands and what are the good and bad points.

about personal jealousy, well thats a different debate.

In all Fairness only Singers can judge singers and composers can judge composers.
