The comment reflects a certain lack of respect for artists who contribute to MUSIC as a whole. It upsets me and clearly, no reason to believe that singers make sub-optimal judges.

I think anyone who understands music very well can be a judge, whether that is a singer, a music director, a lyricist or so on.... They need to feel the music and be honest to it, thats the most important thing... the moment the judge starts getting influenced by non singing parameters, be it anything - the judge fails; and that can happen with judges from any profession...

IN C2005 we saw that when Shreya, Kunal etc came as judges, they were petrified to make sound comments lest they upset a mentor. They tried being as diplomatic as possible and that even showed in their judgement. They were awed by the presence of the Md's sitting there who provide them their bread and butter.

Veteran singers can be the judges as they have nothing to fear and have enough experience and security to not feel insecure by a good performance and they wont fear competition either

To be a judge you have to be able to understand the nuances of singing, have to be able to give an impartial judgement

however in C2005 we have seen time and time again, singers(of today's age) were not able to exhibit the courage to keep their affinity of roti away from the judgements

I would say a singer who has no reason to fear of his livelihood from these MD's is the only one qualified to be a judge here
that includes, Lataji/Ashaji and..

I am so glad that you have demonstrated such a big gap between the two legends and Abhijeet. That, truly, signifies the difference between them.

I feel it makes sense to employ MDS/composers as judges for a talent show, because it is they who makes the songs and who employes and selects singers.

I feel the mentors could be accomplished singers who can guide the contestants in singing techniques.

IMO another problem of having singers as judges is any singers have their own prefered style of singing and will not value certain genres of songs. They may be prejudiced against certain kinds of songs and unsuspecting contestants could be victimized for singing certain kinds of songs.

Ultimatley, it is the Music Directors who make the singers so the Music Directors should judge.

Agreed,veteran singers who have no worries about their Roti can be impartial judges.Asha Tai was the best judge so far in the current challenge rounds.
Lyricists like Javed Akhatar and Gulzar can also be good judges.
It also depends on one's integrity.If the producers attempt to manipulate them they should have the courage to quit or they should make it a precondition that they will have the final say.

Experienced singers having indepth knowledge of music can be good judges and helpful too provided they bestow essential plus and minus 😊
