Okay we need to give HR some slack here. I'm sure he knew that he was taking on a risk by recreating this song. If he copies the tone and voice exactly as it was in the original song, people would criticize him for not adding anything new to the song. If he tries his own style, people would berate him for changing the original. Dono taraf se padni hi hai? What is one to do, in that case? 😕

To his credit, he has added his own style to the song, rather than stick note by note with the original. And some of his changes are in keeping with the current trend of remixes and Gen-Next flavor. The few extra additions have added a bit of zing to the song (not that the original was less zingy, but it was 30 years ago). Asha ji's voice is a great plus in this song - I'm glad we got to hear her rendition. Yes, Himesh's oooooo gets on a bit, but if we get over that, he hasn't done a bad job, while singing in his own style. And to his credit, he let Asha ji sing the majority of the time. Even the credits list Asha ji as the main singer. Himesh sang because he had to sing.

Let's not forget that when this song came out originally, it riled all the purists no end. It was hailed by experts as the beginning of the downfall of Indian music, and many even refused to speak to Panchamda after what he'd done. However, the generation of that time loved it, and they ensured it would be a big hit. The rest, then, is history.

Even not too long ago, on this very forum, someone shared Himesh's 'Ae Meri Zohrajabeen'(I think it was Appaji then too 😛 ). The reactions then were as bad as the ones in this post, and Himesh was said to have murdered that song too. But, apart from the very knowledgeable people of this forum, most others seemed to like it. It was a big hit, and it became the promotional song for the movie. (It was also sung by Sameer in Lil Champs and got him 3 A+'s).

I don't know if the same will happen here, but I have a feeling this song is going to be lapped up by the youth.

Believe it or not, that so called " yelling" made the song more beautiful and appropriate. And this is the view of not just Pamchamda fans, but most music lovers .😊

I agree everyone enjoys the song by RDB..... but let me tell you.... people of SRGMP section rate a song as beautiful based on

1. Melody: now definitely it was nt there😆

2. Ragaa: May be available i dont have idea on raagas

3. Singing: Shouting is definitely taken as big minus in rating.... and noone can deny that RDB shouted in this song😆

So I just said based on this criterias of this section its not a beautiful song.... also its not that hard to sing.... we have heard so many singing those in orchestras and concerts....

but surely is enjoyable😃

This is a situational song in the midst of hooligans. raaga based melody is most inappropriate there.....

the song, the yelling the rhythm, the beats, the singing, the tempo, all put together make then song special. it is considred as an enjoyable song suited in the fast song category, is it beautiful, contexually it is...so thats what counts.

Abhi please.U want a raga based melody in that particular situation in the movie! And please whatever that song might be this one just dnt stand anywhere near it.This is just ridiculous singing.Maybe HR at his worse.

This is a song which HR should hav sung in his own style.I had mentioned to few here that i am really waiting for this song by HR because it will come out good in his style of singing. Why did he go for copying i hav no idea.Thats where he made the biggest mistake.
