Coming back to the program, I notice that mentors are very excited and participants are also giving their best. It appears that not all of them are having lots of potential. some of them perform on a given day but next day they get exposed. I wonder we have any "complete" singer in this competition. Also not all of them have formal training.
Last episode was worst of all. Not a single singer in the entire lot impressed me. If someone has to select from the best, I can understand the pain but it becomes even more difficult when one has to decide between participants who are substandard and no one stands out clearly and so the confusion. I can bet that none o these are going to make it in the finals, even Hemachandra or Abhijit from boys. Girls are the most disappointing in this lot (last leg of the elimination round). Paresh is getting unnecessary attention because of his firangi accent and belonging to UK. Wonder what that has to with his singing?
I find that mentors are not consistent and Himmesh is making more exceptions than rules. Ismail seems to have no genuine interest and seems like he is working for this program only to get his fees. I agree only Aadesh seems to be involved in it, atleast whatever appears from back of stage scenes. No one would ever know the complete scene just by watching the programs telecast.
Shiv and Hari were very gracious in their results and were in full command except once when they gave Joyitaa a go ahead based on comments from mentors, in spite of her worst performance. But Alka seems to have no sense of musical judgement and looks like she is very autocratic. Jagjit is worst as a judge. He is my one of the most favorite singers and I waited for 2 hours to get his autograph in Toronto after his performance. But sorry to say that I did not like his comments and he has a very poor judging power. His comments on Aishwarya was very harsh and heart breaking when he said that - "aap Aishwarya ko playback singe bolte ho, use to mike pakadna bhee nahi aata hai.." That was not at all good for a budding singer of 16 years only. I appreciate his courage that inspite of that comment he stood up and sang the last song so well. I liked Alka's comment that one day he would sing with her, at lest that gave him some hope and confidence back. Jagjit seems to be very arrogant and he forgets that now-a-days he sings even worse than Aishwarya! Last year in his program at Toronto, almost for an hour he was complaining of sound quality in a hall which is very prestigious for musical shows. I have attended many musical shows in that hall and no one complained for sound quality. the fact is that Jagjit is no more a quality singer and he should not ridicule the younger generation. My humble request to him is that , did he teach Aishwarya afterwards? Being critic is very easy!!
Anyway I hope that we get to see more fierce competition ahead and only hope that we have a better judges in future.
