Agree...but does that mean...no songs from today will qualify in the memorable song category of tomorrow?

Can you find any present day song in the time limit specified, that you would consider , worth memorable due to lyrics in say after 25 years from now?

In today's music scene...,there are hardly any good songs being made....! the whole lot attention is 2wards giving music.....!! lyrics are not at all.......worth remmebering! Bus jo....rhythem bnaa, qafia mila.....so likh diya..aur ga diya!! Lyricx to wo they jo 80's aur usse phle k zmaney mein likhe jtey they--aj kal to llyrix k naam pe..sirf.....sirf nazmein likhi jatein hain!! yea.poems, kyonke jaise poems mein kbhie kbhar koi sense nai hoti,we do laugh at some poems..usi trhan..aj kal k lyrix...JUST lyirx reh gae hain........!!

Per phir b kuch aise songs hain....jo shayad yaad reh jayein...........sirf yaad.........!! agar wo un geetoon ko bhi dhundla krpaye...jo zahen-nasheeen hain!!

If still there are some songs to be remembered..then i'd say thats only bcuz of some brilliant lyricists...who've gven a brilliant piece of wrk in da past too..and now in present time too, they r doing their job all da same..!!
Kal Ho NA HO---title song...brilliant writing! Javed akhtar always pen down the 'reality'.......!! and dts y..we cn relate to it..i mean we all knw wats da reality of life, wats ....Our reality....but da real thing is in xpressing it!! and HE's done it..here!! wid brilliance!

2: ..................i cntt find any songs matching to 'ANAND'--the old rajesh khanna starrer movie's songs,Aradhana... 👏 .....Silsila-old..Chandni,Lamhe---No match! Aradhana movie had romantic songs mostly..and u see...today's or da pst yrs's romantic songs............alot difference!

I totally agree that lyrics, song composition, the accompanying music and the way it is rendered makes a song special or memorable to be cherished or remembered.

If i just close my eye now and try thinking of 10 songs...I can bet not a single song from the time range 1995-present will feature in that...as far as I am concerned.

There are many who think the same way as I do.

But then there are also many who consider that taste to be old or redundant.

You see, there is a portion of the present generation of music lovers who prefer different type of music. The same people in say 25 years down, will become the previous generation clearing the way for yet another new generation. So I want to see, the present generation, what they themselves think would qualify to be remembered in the coming years.

A couple of months back, Appada had a poll-who was a better singer: Kishor Kumar or Sagarika .Sagarika won!!!

So you see, there is divided opinion and there is a majority out there who differ in their taste of music. There is one school like us...who prefer melody, lyrix, and such things..There is another, who do not like that as much. So I am looking for their opinion too. Anand, Silsila, Aradhana - we know they qualify as gems..they always have....it is from the present songs that I am interested in seeing how many actually can be remembered.. ..

Sorry to say but....A Competition is always there....where the two are compatible..i mean competition hamesha...brabari k logoon mein hota hai.....--and i reallly dont think k Sagarika match to Kishore Kumar in any aspect as far as singing is concerned!

Sagarika won! that's our new generation na!! Some today reallyt dont know Who Kishore Da was.....!!!! People today, dnt listen to the oldies songs nymore.....coz they das they r heading 2wrads new beginnings..their choices, viewpoints r changing!! ----

That was a competition b/w 2 singers...who r entirely from different era's and....hence..........no match!

why do you think these are lasting songs... Songs last only if we cherish them... All the movies u mentioned above are good songs... but do they have lasting power?

Of the songs u mentioned only one i.e Taal and one song from machis have a lasting effect... rest are just like any other song... I would think Khamoshi, 1942 love story had more lasting power

If i profiled u correctly i think u might have missed Paranita, 😊

Heres I think what will be generally lasting say from last 20 years..

QSQT

Ashiqui

Maine Pyar Kiya

DDLJ,

Rangeela

Khamoshi

1942 love story

Taal

Dil chahata hai

Some songs from HDCS

Hum aaap ke hai koun,...............

(Of course this is not complete but its hardly dense.. if you pick songs from the golden era.. u will have 10 movies per year u may list)

All the above have much sustaining power... A music lasts for its tunes, lyrics are incidental....and have a veri individual appeal....

Also u need to define lasting effect .. Is it what I will buy 10 years down the line or is it a then 10 year old will buy as a part of melodious legacy...?😊

A 10 year old will buy as a aprt of melodious legacy. We in 2006 still go crazy of some songs from the 40's.50's, 60's ,70's 80,...so much so that in the 2000's some of these olden gems are remixed...🤢(this one for the remix)

do u think any from the 1995-, 2006 have the ability to haunt one say in 2025?
