The most fascinating part of Indian film music is its evolution with time. We have come a long way from where we started. The MD's of the different era's since the 1940's have experimented with different things to cater to the changing taste of the music lovers through the different generations. In this musical journey many gems were created and they find a place in the list of evergreen songs.

At present, every time one takes a trip down the musical memory lane, we automatically bump into these yesteryears classics which have touched our soul somewhere and have left an everlasting impression on us.

If we were to foresee our future, and forecast , then which of the present day songs do you think will find a place in our hearts. Which of the present songs will make us gush , wow what a rare gem..what a treasure.. !!!....Are there any songs currently that can be remembered or can leave an everlasting impression on us ?

This thread is all about picking the songs of today ( lets say 1995 - present) that you think will haunt you in 2020 !!!! All you have to do is post the songs in the period 1995-present which u think will qualify as golden memory.

So lets see if todays songs can be tomorrow's memories....

Cheers !!!

Generally music does not last in memory, the lyrics for which the music have been written have powerful rendering vocals that will make the song memorable

I am going to remember "teri naani mari toh main kya karoon", as a jem, even on my deathbed 😆 😆 😆
On a serious note, the songs of "Khamoshi" "Roja" both tamil and Hindi, Omkara... Bunty & Babli (some songs.....

I agree with Sareg that it is the lyrics which stay in memory much after you forget the music... and some of the lyrics are powerful and unforgettable.

Eg. Kallu Mama.... Satya

Adi you are looking at the popular music which is supposed to be a passing phase for the current generation, there are memorable songs in current times, which will always be remembered, as long as lyricists such as Javed Akhtar, Gulzar, Prasoon Joshi to name a few are around we will have this kind of songs

There were the current popular type of songs in yesteryears which have long been forgotten, very few get remembered, "Railgaadi Railgaadi", "Ina mina Dika" come to mind.

People in the industry know this, that is why such lyricists get a lot of work, even good marketiers such as Himesh understand it, so they want to work with these folks.

The recent trend I have seen the sad songs in the movie, generally have very good lyrics, have very powerful vocals and generally have good music assigned to it too, that has become the niche it seems, I might be wrong

As far as naming it, well 😆😆😆, Well you need Taran, Appaji, Abhilash or Qwerty or folks such as that for that😆😆

I truly second that! Its really those song-wording...lyrix that leave impact on our minds...and thus,we remember them even after many years...!! That's simply because..sometimes,we can relate ourselves to the things being said in the songs...!! we feel them too..that is why we remember them....! Also..there's geart contribution 2wards the remembrance of song...OF the singer! coz he/she takes out emotions...make us feel it..and hence..we get 2 like it......----U see,if there's no emotion, feel in the song..it doesn't last 4eva..............in our memories..😳

There is a song in Hum dil de chuke sanam titled

"jhoka hawa ka aaj bhi..zulfey urata hoga na..."

and "albela sajan aayo re"- this song hardly had any memorable lyrics but I just love the song....👏

then "chinna chinna asai"...from the Tamil Movie-Roja....

good topic adi!
i have a couple of those. Im a true sucker for lyrics. Im also not into all the new songs that MD's have come out with in the past lets just say decade.
The ones i think i will surely remember would include: yeh hai meri kahani - zinda, the latest one my list is maula mere maula and javeda zindagi from anwar (totally addictive, ruth agai reh from earth (an ARR compo) and karye na from taal. tadap tadap ke...from HDDCS is also up there!
these songs i listen to i think almost on regular basis now atleast once a day for sure. the lyrics are just amazing!
now ghazals are a whole differnt ball park for me! 😆

Agree...but does that mean...no songs from today will qualify in the memorable song category of tomorrow?

Can you find any present day song in the time limit specified, that you would consider , worth memorable due to lyrics in say after 25 years from now?

I think Kal ho na ho..title song...really like the lyrics, so true and sonu has really sang it well.

Then I like the Fiza title song...and bhumro...from Mission Kashmir...

There are quite a few I like but dont think they all qualify to be treasured 25 years later...

but there are some more songs...folksy types, that i like, some a bit classical based...which i think would qualify too...lemme just go thinking...😆
